I am trying to find some information on a Manoah Clarkson born about 1802 in Virginia. He married Lucy DeJarnette in 1828 in Breckinridge County, Kentucky. He moved to Missouri between 1850 and 1860 settling in Chariton County, Missouri. He died between 1870 and 1880.
Their children include -
Judith who married Calvin Furrow
Thomas
Mildred
Archilus
Andrew
Sarah
I found a Anselm Clarkson and a Julius? Clarkson listed one person away from Manoah in the 1840 Breckinridge County, Kentucky census. Anselm is the right age to be Manoah's father.
I would be interested in any information that might connect these.

I am looking for information on my great grandmother Catherine Bowen. I
believe her parents are John Bowen b. 1836 and Sarah Jane Ann Clarkson b.
1836. Catherine Bowen is listed as 1 y.o. in the 1860 Census Symmes Twp.
Lawrence Co., OH with John and Sarah Bowen. Other children listed include:
Mary A., age 4 and Eliza, age 2. I have been looking for quite some time
trying to determine if this is my great grandmother's family and what
actually happened to them. John, Sarah, Eliza, and Catherine plus children
Malissa and William are listed in the 1870 Census Washington Twp. Lawrence
Co., OH but I can't find the family after that in census records. Catherine
was married by 1880 to her first husband John Irvin. They are listed in
District 5, Jefferson Twp., Adams Co., OH as John and Catherine Irvine with
children Sidine age 7, Laura age 4, and Eva age 3.
If anyone has any information about the family I would greatly appreciate
receiving an e-mail at pdeeds007(a)aol.com or a posting to this website.

spoke with the Director of the Amherst County Museum & Historical Society. The Museum does not have a Clarkson Family genealogy book. She did find a reference to Clarkson family members in a History of Albemarle County. Peter Clarkson bought land in Albemarle County in 1788. There were references to Peter, John, William, James, and Manoah. The book indicated that the relationships were not well documented, but John, William, and James were thought to be brothers, sons of a David Clarkson. Peter and Manoah were thought also to be brothers in the same family, but it is uncertain. John had some connection with Amherst County. The Director thought you might check with the Albemarle County Historical Society (www.abemarlehistory.org), since the Clarksons were definitely located there. I found that James was a Revolutionary War soldier from Amherst County. A Catherine Clarkson (b. June 1760) married Thomas Jones (Oct 17, 1780), also a soldier. In support of her pension applicatio!
n after his death, a Mrs. Frances Carter, who testified that she knew Catherine since infancy and that Thomas Jones had stopped at her home for breakfast on his return from his first tour in the militia, just before the birth of one of her sons, submitted a page torn from her family Bible listing birth dates of her eldest children. On the back is ”John Clarkson” (no indication of why the name was written there). Thomas and Catherine lived in Nelson County, between Albemarle and Amherst Counties. It may help you to know that Amherst County was originally part of Albemarle and that Nelson was part of Amherst and therefore originally Albemarle.
