Thanks for the info.
I would love to have the DNA profile done. Unfortunatly it will have to wait until after the first of the year. My finances are a bit tight at the moment. I am sure this is temporary. Happens every year about this time. You would think I'd save for the annual slow down but it never works out that way.
Why don't we remind each other after taxes that this needs to be done.
Thanks
Your cousin Joe

Dear Joe,
It has been almost a year to the day since our last posting! Last year, I remember that I was a bit confused about how we were related. My confusion was due to a mistake in my Clarkson line. Indeed, your gg-grandfather was John Clarkson who married Jane Carson. My gg-grandfather was Enoch Clarkson who married Louisa Carson, Jane's sister. John and Enoch were brothers.
Your grandmother, Harriet Clarkson was a cousin of my grandfather, Ralph Clarkson. If Harriet married a Clarkson-male-cousin as you suspect, then I can help you prove that fact. I have had the Deep Clade Haploclade test from Family Tree DNA performed and I know the paternal Clarkson haplotype which would have remained unchanged all the way back to ancient Ireland, where our line of Clarksons originated. If your grandfather was a Clarkson male, then he would match me as well as your father and you. All you would have to do is contact www.familytreedna.com and order the Deep Clade Haplotype test. If your results are R1b1c7, then indeed your grandmother Harriet married a Clarkson cousin. Please eMail me if you are interested in this test. Genetic genealogy can certainly help piece together the threads of our past. :-)
Sincerely
Ray Clarkson

Jennie (or Jane) Lee was born about June 18, 1848. Her death date is unknown-that's what I'm trying to find out along with her place of death which may be British Columbia. Jennie married William Clarkson about 1880 in Ottawa. I don't know when he died, possibly in Manitoba as the family was living there at one time. A 1906 Ottawa census which doesn't list William Sr. shows the birth date of Jennie's son, William, as Aug. 16, 1882 and her son, Robert's birth date was listed as April 17, 1884. The death dates or place of death for these boys is unknown. Jennie's daughter, Gertrude Elizabeth (Also known as Bessie) is listed as having been born on Jan. 12, 1883. Something is wrong with the birth dates because William and Gertrude would have been born too close together. I have Gertrude's death date as March 18, 1960. I don't know where she died.
The dates of death of these children are not known, neither is the place of death. I think all were born in Ottawa but can't be sure.
I hope someone out there can help me with the dates and places I don't know. Thank you.
