Subject: [KYHARDIN] FULTON
Dorothy,
Found the name Fulton included in the following from "The History of Meade
County, Ky 1824 - 1991" by Laura Young Brown and Marie Coleman.
THE RICHARDSON FAMILY by Mrs. J. F. Woolfolk
It appears from the best information we have that sometime in the year
1766, two brothers, Daniel and David M Richardson, shipped from London,
England, arriving at New York City in the same year. Daniel settled at White
Hall, Washington County, New York and David settled at Baltimore, MD,
where he had purchased a tract of land, then leased same to other parties
for the term of 99 years, upon which a portion of Baltimore now stands.
Daniel married a lady from Dublin, Ireland. From this marriage there were
four children born, two girls, Sallie and Polly, both of whom died in
infancy
and two boys, Daniel and David M. David married Miss Lydia ACKLY in
August 1790 at White Hall, New York. The father, Daniel, of the two bro-
thers, Daniel and David, was a soldier in the Revolutionary War. On his
return home to White Hall he had contracted small pox and died therefrom.
Some years after his death, his widow married David CLOUGH, and to them
was born one daughter, Sally. They then moved from White Hall, New York
across Lake St. George, up Otter Creek to Middletown, Connecticut.
The children that were born to David M. and Lydia A. Richardson at White
Hall, New York were: DANIEL SAXTON RICHARDSON was born August 25,
1792; POLLY RICHARDSON born August 26, 1795, who lived only one
hour. LYDIA RICHARDSON the first, born September 28, 1796 died January
5, 1797. DAVID M RICHARDSON, JR, born Nov 10, 1797; LYDIA RICHARD-
SON second born Oct 30, 1799; LOUISIANA RICHARDSON first born Jan
9, 1802-June 26, 1803; ABRAHAM ACKLEY RICHARDSON born Jan 10,
1803; ORLA COBURN RICHARDSON born March 18, 1806 and LEWIS
ROBERSON RICHARDSON born Friday, May 25, 1809.
David M Richardson, Sr. arrived in Kentucky with his family July 13,
1810.
Louisiana Richardson second was born Monday, July 22, 1811; WARREN
HARDIN RICHARDSON was born Friday, Aug 6, 1813; ALBERT GARRY
RICHARDSON was born Friday, Aug 6, 1815.
David M. and Lydia (Ackley) Richardson had born to them fourteen child-
ren. DANIEL SAXTON being the oldest of the family was married to his first
wife, Miss MARY HURD of New York, in Meade County. To them were born
8 children: S. SAXTON whose wife was MARY JANE WIMP. They were the
parents of JOHN MORGAN RICHARDSON, Mrs DELIA CRAYCROFT, Mrs
BETTIE CARRICO of Kansas; CARLTON RICHARDSON and others; Mary

SON who married CECLIA JANE WOOLFOLK; L. R. RICHARDSON, JR

ried O. C. RICHARDSON, JR. After the death of the first wife of Daniel
SAXTON RICHARDSON, Mary HURD, he married HESTER POPE SIMMONS
WOOLFOLK, the widow of JAMES B WOOLFOLK, deceased. To them was
born one child, WILLIAM HENRY HARRISON RICHARDSON, who died in

her two sons; Hon. W. A. ALLEN of Meade County and DAVID ALLEN of

Subject: [TURNER] Richard / Frederick Turner
Does the name either Richard Turner or Frederick Turner
in 1890-1900 ring the bell? If it does, please contact me
and identify him. I would like to know more about him, for
he may or may not have been connected with my ancestor
William Toliver Turner, but it would be worth a try to find out
who Richard / Frederick Turner is. My cousin James has
sent me the following information about Richard/Frederick
Turner as follows.
My ancestor William Toliver Turner's widowed wife Martha
Jane (White) Turner moved from Waterloo, Fauquier Co. VA
to Washington, D.C. in or just before 1891 at the age of 75.
At first, my cousin and I did not know why she and some of
her children moved to Washington, D.C. After my cousin's
research, we now think we will find out why soon if we dig
more deeply about Richard Turner. He says that the Polk
Directories for Washington, D.C. lists Mrs. Martha Turner
as a resident at 1205 4th Street, SE from 1891 to her death
in 1904. From the same source, he just so happened to come
across another Turner that resided on the very same block --
"Frederick Turner, 1225 4th Street, SE." To know more about
Frederick Turner, yy cousin decided searched for the
Frederick Turner in the 1900 Federal Census and located
him under the name "Richard Turner" at the very same
address (no "Frederick"). Richard and his wife and children
were born in Maryland (source: Wash. DC 1900 census,
Roll #164, ED #133, p. 258). Since listed at the same
address, we believe that Richard's middle name is probably
"Frederick". What I know for a fact is that my great-grandmother
was born at Dorcas (Turner) Clarkson's granddaughter Mrs.
Eliza Steptoe (Clarkson) Marshall's home. Dorcas was herself
a native of Charles County, Md, moving to Fauquier Co. Va. in
the late 1770s. I looked at the map and, true enough, Charles Co.
Md. is near both VA and MD.

I appreciate you help. First, my eyes are poor these days. The birthdate for
this Millard Filmore Clark/ston should be 1879, not 1870, making it possible
to be born in the newly formed Leslie Co, KY. Thank you for helping me to
see my error.
The Squire Clarkson mentioned in the 1880 Leslie Co, census is Millard
Filmore's father. The Martha listed is Martha Jane Cress, d/o Henry Cress
and Nancy Jane Parsons. Squire and Martha were married 19 days after this
census, 25 jun 1880 Hyden, Leslie Co, KY; The 1 year old Millard is the
product of Squire's first marriage to Busleard? Barbeard? that you reference
later.
The Samuel and Nancy you cite are parents of Squire, and grandparents of
Millard Filmore Clarkston, the subject of this query.
Believe it or not, the unreadable Clarkson md to Elizabeth Jane 'Betty'
McKinney, is Millard Filmore 'FM' Clarkston, son of Sam and Nancy, brother
of Squire, and uncle to Millard Filmore Clarkston, the subject here. If I
had needed to depend on this census record, I would never have been able to
identify him.
The Whisman Children in the 1870 Perry Co Census are Almira and Nancy
Whisman, grandchildren of Samuel and Nancy Clarkston, and daughters of Mary
'Polly' Clarkston, the recent widow of James M. Whisman. They also had a
son, John Whisman, but I do not know what happened to him.
The marriage record is not our Samuel Henry Clarkston who md 25 dec 1866 to
Elvina Cress, d/o Henry Cress and Nancy Jane Parsons.
Now, about my comment about the surnames of the children of Millard Filmore
Clarkston being listed as "Wooten". That is most definitely an error on my
part. I had entered the data, listing the state, county, district, separated
only by a comma, followed by the given name. Later, misinterpreting the
Wooten to be the surname. I am truly sorry for clouding the issue.
Now a question. Besides being a neighbor to Filmore in 1910, was there
another reason to list Daniel Thomas and family? Am I missing something?
Thanks, Kay

Hello,
I am not related to your family but thought I'd provide you some information
I located you might not have. First, Millard Filmore CLARK/STON/SON would
not have been born in Leslie Co. in ca 1870 because it was not formed until
1879 from parts of Harlan, Clay and Perry Co.'s. I first checked Harlan,
Clay and did not see him so would assume it was that he was born in Perry
Co., KY.
On the 1880 Leslie Co. (their first census), it appears that this would part

I saw this marriage which "could" be Samuel and Viney but don't really know.
Samuel CLARK to Vina Emily FRANCE on 7-13-1865 in Lawrence Co., KY
Also, looks like Squire CLARKSON died on 1-12-1916 in Jackson Co., KY at the
age of 58 years, Vol. 4, Cert. 1618
Now to the 1910 Leslie Co., I have a transcribed book and I know you state
that as of the 1910 that you viewed or were given, it gives the children as
WOOTENs. HOWEVER, it does NOT list them that way in my book.
