Thank you for the information. Charles L. Clarkson and Maria Elizabeth McNaught were married in Illinois on 3/30/1869 and I just presumed that it was in Chicago. They had six children, Maude Lillian, Charles L, Jr, Nester (my grandfather) Roy, Grace and Ralph.
I will check out any available records with the McLean County/Gridley area. Thanks, Gloria

Gloria,
Looked at my information and there does not seem to be any matches.
We had no relatives in Chicago, but did have a lot of McNaughts who settled in McLean Co./Gridley area of Illinois. There is a McNaught Cemetery in Gridley.

Your Thomas Clarkson, born 1810, is about the same age as the children of John and Mary (Webb) Clarkson. I don't know of a Thomas in our family. The young men (born in KY) in the 1840 census are accounted for. Most of the Clarkson descendants were named Mary, William, John, and Merritt. Later on there were some named Littleton after the father of Susanna Lunsford who married William Clarkson.

I have read some of the notes written about W.T. Clarkson when they get posted to CLARKSON-L mailing list. I have a William Thomas Clarkson born between 1860 & 1865 MO to John W. Clarkson and Cynthia E. Sexton Clarkson. Because of her father's estate settlement, we know that Cynthia died earlier, and left a son named William Thomas Clarkson. The Sextons lived in Boone co. MO, and my Clarksons were in Washington, Rives/Henry/St Clair area of MO. John W. Clarkson's Mother died in Boone Co., MO, in 1853. The name is sometimes spelled Clarkston or Claxton .
Maybe there is a connection. My WorldConnect file is database= barjeanm .

Mary, I really wonder about this W.T. If in fact my Thomas could have been William. He had two sons one named William and the other Samuel. Back then they usually carried on a Father or Grandfather's name.I'll keep looking I like you have been out of touch for awhile.

I opened your reply because my fathers name was Gavin, It is such an unusual name that maybe we have a connection somewhere. His name was Gavin Ray Clarkson-born in Missouri in 1914. His fathers name was Logan, mother was Mary Belle Nichols. They lived in Linneus, Mo.-died Republic, Mo. Logan's father was W.T. and it stops there. Had various name for his wife because I can't seem to find out what W.T. stands for-could be William Thomas. Any connection would be helpful. Thanks

Sorry it took me a while to reply. I haven't researched since earlier this year. Went back to work. I'm very interested to pick it up again. Will let you know if I find out anything. My father has no relatives left that I can find so it's been difficult to trace the Clarkson name passed W.T. I still don't know for sure what W.T. stands for. I've had many replies from people related to William Thomas. Keep safe.
Since the surname Graham has shown up in connection with Clarkson families,
I thought I might relist my earliest Clarksons. Census records of children
say that my John Clarkson was born in VA. He married in Shelby County, KY,
moved to MO, and died in 1838, Rives/Henry Co. MO. His son William Clarkson
married Susanna Lunsford in Washington Co. MO. Susanna was the dau of
Littleton Lunsford (Baptist preacher) and Sarah Freeman. Sarah Freeman's
sister was married to John Graham who settled the estate of Joshua Freeman in
Boone Co. MO. Any help with these families would be greatly appreciated.
More information can be found in WorldConnect database= barjeanm .
