I've "rescued" an old photograph of Edith CLARKE of Algona, Iowa. The
photograph was taken at the Smith Studio in Evanston, IL, likely in the
1880's or 1890's with Edith appearing to be in her teens or 20's at the
time. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following
information regarding Edith and her family:
May Edith CLARKE b. 1868 in Iowa to parents Andrew D. CLARKE (b. 1842) and
Mary J. PHELPS (b. 1844). May Edith or Edith May CLARKE was one of three
children born to this couple including, two siblings, Irma D.; and Fred S.
CLARKE, the three born between 1868 and 1881. She married Franklin Leslie
WILLIAMS on 19 Jun 1895 in Algona, IA. Franklin Leslie WILLIAMS was the son
of Amos WILLIAMS and Hannah STUART.
Census records provide the following information:
1870 census of Algona Township, Kossuth Co. IA:
Andrew CLARK, age 29, a Real Estate Agent, born WI
Mary J. CLARK, age 25, Keeping House, born WI
Mary E. CLARK, age 2, at Home, born IA
Lucy M. CLARK, age 28, born WI
1880 census of Algona, IA:
Andrew D. CLARKE, age 37, a Real Estate Agent, born Quebec Canada, parents
born NY
Mary J. CLARKE, wife, age 35, Keeping House, born WI, parents born NY
Edith M. CLARKE, dau, age 12, at School, born IA
Irma D. CLARKE, dau, age 1, born IA
+ 1 Servant
1885 census of IA:
Andrew D. CLARKE, age 43, a Land Dealer, born Canada
Mary J. CLARKE, age 41, Keeping House, born WI
Edith M. CLARKE, age 16, born IA
Irma D. CLARKE, age 6, born IA
Frederic S. CLARKE, age 3, born IA
+ a Music Teacher and Housekeeper
I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that the photograph can be
returned to its rightful place, with family. If you are a member of this
family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley
Desperately seeking several documented CLARK male descendants of James Clark & Elizabeth Summers of Augusta Co VA for DNA testing through FTDNA.com. There are no participants representing their descendants, and it would be ideal to have descendants of each of their sons to thoroughly document the genetic code of this family line. My husband has turned up a strong autosomal dna match to a descendant of James Clark & Elizabeth Summers through their son Alexander. A YDNA match would be an awesome breakthrough on my CLARK brick wall. Please consider becoming a participant in DNA testing. There are so many orphan Clark lines waiting for someone to match them!

Oh boy, speaking of brick walls. I have two. The family of John Brooks Clark of Il father is Wood S Clark.
And Lucy Clarke of Middleboro, MA in early 1800s. I have more but don't know who her family is. Married a Lt James Sprout.
Not enough info. Just a good wish for your success Fay.
