Message Board Post:
Noted your message on James Clarke and your listing his descendants. I have an interest in this Clarke family as two Nicholls siblings married two Clarke siblings:
1. Abraham Lynsen Clarke (1766-1811)
Wife: Sarah Nicholls (1769-1815)
2. Catherine Clarke (1769-1815)
Husband: Richard Philip Nicholls (1767-?)
I am descended on my mother's side from a brother of the Nicholls noted above: Charles Theophilus Nicholls (I spell it Nichols now), 1771-1849. It is interesting that I found Catherine Nicholls nee Clarke buried at the Moutain Grove Cem in Bridgport, CT in 1873, though she was supposed to have died on 19 Jun 1815 in Georgetown, KY. I am not sure what happened to Richard Philip Nicholls or his two daughters by Catherine Clarke: 1. Marie Catherine Nicholls, B:1795, Stratford, CT D: ?; 2. Catherine Nicholls, B: 1798, Stratford, CT; D:?. These two Nicholls sisters were supposed to have married but I have nothing on their husbands or any childern they may have had.

The 1820 census for Nippenose, Lycoming, PA shows a JOHN CLARK age 26-45 with 1 son under 10. He might be the one I am looking for. I will appreciate it if someone with connections to the Nippenose Clarks will get in touch with me.

I have a picture of the gravestone which is not all that stunning. I would be glad to share it, if anyone would like to have it.
Eliza, I am not sure how we are related, is buried at the Fox cemetery in Providence, Kentucky.
I have pictures of many of the headstones in that cemetery. My cousin gave some of the property for the cemetery so that is how I know who these folks are.

This is another Israel Putnam Richardson. Perhaps a bit confusing because "my" Israel took the name Clark, and went by Putnam Richardson Clark. I spent some time searching for a connection between the two Israel Putnam Richardson's, and I don't believe I was successful.
Lots of people named their sons George Washington (Surname), too, so this may have been a coincidence.
The two Richardson lines represented here are the 3 brothers, from The Richardson Memorial, and the Woburn clan, as well as John Richardson of Medfield, also detailed in Vinton's Richardson Memorial.

Putnam Clark was my 5th cousin, and related to me both through his Clark ancestors, but also, Israel Putnam Richardson, his great grandfather, the son of Oliver Richardson and Mary Stedman Carroll Fairbanks.
Israel Putnam Richardson was adopted by Jotham Clark and Eunice Rockwood, and took the name Putnam Richardson Clark, after the adoption, in 1849 (see list of people in MA whose names have been changed).

I need information about a John Clark who was born about 1880-85, and who might have died in Lycoming County of Penn.
I do not know where he was born but in 1820 he was living in Nippenose Twp. There were several Clarks living there at that time - I would like to hear from someone with information about them.

Yes, my husband's grandfather was Oliver Turner Clarke. Oliver's children were:
Cyril Theophilus,
Geoffrey Owen
Basil Oliver
Austin Leon
Oliver and Lilly lived in Birmingham before moving to St. Louis, Missouri in the early 1900's. Oliver was a stonemason, and his father was Oliver Owen Clarke, also a stonemason. The family 'dropped' the e from Clarke when they came to the US. If anyone else is researching this line, please contact me! The query I'm answering is from 2000!
