If you're only looking to verify that Hoxsie is a RI surname, there is no question that is factual. And it appears that Lodowick Hoxsie was the original Hoxsie, from Scotland to Rhode Island, and beyond.
I live in Warwick, RI where the airport is located, and a section of town called Hoxsie Four Corners.
Many of the Hoxsie clan lived in Richmond, Carolina and Westerly, RI, prior to moving to New York, as described in the work that you linked to. Interesting that the author, or compiler of the information, was a Richardson.
Are you actually looking for proof that Fannie Hoxsie is the correct name?
Gary Allen Richardson

Hello,
I signed on with this List for only one reason ... to find proof or disprove
some information that was listed on a death record for my husband's
ancestor, Thomas Rogers, who was born in Newport, RI, about 1 Jan 1786 - a
date that was calculated by his exact age listed at death. On his death
record, Thomas is listed with parents, Jeremiah Rogers and Fanny "Caeke" or
"Caike". All except the 3 letter are very clearly written. However, that
name as such just did not exist.
Jeremiah, Thomas' father, was born in Newport, RI, on 26 Mar 1761. A
marriage exists for Jeremiah and Fanny Hoxsie in Newport on 5 Mar 1783.
When visiting the Newport Historical Society a few years ago, the librarian
showed me a 3X5 vital record card with a marriage of a Peleg Hoxse and
Frances Clarke on 22 Jun 1774 at the First Baptist Church in Newport. Since
there was found no source for this Fanny Hoxsie, speculation was drawn to
the fact that she might have been married before to this Peleg Hoxse.
However, no death record was found for Peleg, and a book had a listing of a
Peleg Hoxse with children listed born after this period.
Upon thereafter visiting the New England Genealogical Historic Society in
Boston, the librarian showed me two documentations of Jeremiah's marriage in
two different sources. One source listed Fanny as "Mrs.", implying that she
might have been married before.
Now I find listed on the site below that Fanny Hoxsie who married Jeremiah
Rogers was the daughter of Lodowick Hoxsey and Alice. On this same site is
listed a Peleg Hoxsie married to a Frances Pittman (no marriage date or
place), but with four children born between 1776 to 1781, and then four
children, born 1788 to 1800, through a 2nd person.
http://hoxie.richroots.com/
Having recently received DNA genealogy results on my husband's Rogers
ancestral line that pretty much confirms Jeremiah to be from the earlier
Newport Rogers line, I would like to verify the birth surname of Fanny
"Hoxsie".
Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.
Carol Rogers
