Hi Yentl
I could be interested in your Thomas Clarke. I am looking for connections to a Thomas Arthur Clarke born in Middlesex in the 1840s. He went on to have a son called William, which I realise is a common name. Do you have any more details at all of your Thomas.
Thanking you
Rachel

Thanks for responding - I was looking at one of the threads where someone was looking to find descendants of William Clark born 1805 in Scotland. He married Mary Anne Mavor on 13 January 1927 in Fordyce. I am looking for connections back to Scotland for Francis Mavor who emigrated from Scotland to Canada on the Castaglia in the 1800's.

Good afternoon. I just found your post from 2001. Have you learned any further info? My ggf was Francis Mavor who emigrated from Scotland to the "Scotch Colony" in Canada. I believe one of his children was a Margaret Mavor.

Good Morning:
My Name is Allen Clark, I have been working on my Clark Famil tree for many years.
My ancester was John Clarke from Armagh County Northern Ireland, who Married a Mary KilRoy, There was a Hugh Clarke from Cavan County Ireland, who married Catherine Rileu, and your Richard Clark from Cavan County, Ireland, who married Racheal ??....
I believe they were 1st. or 2nd cousins, who came to Canada, within ten years of each other.
All three Families settled in Cavan Township, near the city of Peterborough, Ontario, Canada.
Now , Do you have the birthdates of your grandfather and or your g.grandfather, and do you know whas Reacheal's maiden name was.
Just out of curiosity where do you live

George Clarke was born 15 April 1833 in County Cavan, Ireland. (His parents were Elizabeth Lawrence and William Clarke) In 1843, with his parents and some number of siblings, emigrated to Canada, to the Cavan/Millbrook area. He was inspired by a travelling Methodist minister to study for the ministry himself, and in May 1852, aged 19, went to New York. In 1860 he became a US citizen, graduated from Wesleyan University (there is a handsome photo of him in the class album which I can email you if you like!), was ordained a Methodist Episcopal Minister, and married Miss Lydia A. Barber, a school-teacher from upstate New York.
They had nine children (three died in infancy); let me know if you want their details.
The family resided in various places as George was assigned to different ministries around the state. Rev. Clarke was especially active in the temperance movement, pursued higher studies, and travelled abroad as well. By the late 1890s they settled in Ocean Grove, New Jersey. Lydia died March 25, 1908 and is buried in Mt. Kisco cemetery. George married again, Dr. Margaret Curry (the town physician). They divided their time between New Jersey and Florida until his death in January 1921.

Hello,
I'm looking for any information on my Great Grandaunt Annie Clarke, nee Norton. She was born in Turpane, Co. Roscommon, Ireland c 1875. Her sister Norah, who remained in Roscommon is my Great Grandmother.
Annie immigrated to NYC some time before 1898, possibly 1895.
In 1898 her sister Katie immigrated and according to the Ellis Island record stayed with 'Mrs Clarke' at 52E 32nd ? NY. I assume this is Annie and she is already married.
I don't have any name for her husband, or an area where they settled. My mother thinks she remembers hearing about family in New Jersey, but she isn't sure.
In the 1960's my mother was penpals with a Brain Clarke who was a grand son or Grt grandson of Annie's. He had a sister named Karen who married Pete McGovern on August 9th 1965.
We have a very battered picture of Annie with young boy. Written on the back it says that she was with Mary Louise's boy, and there is also a mention of Irene. We don't know two these people are.
Annie had a several sisters and a brother who also went to NYC. They were
Katie who married a Dunne
Ellen who returned to Roscommon c1914
John and Mary F who I have no information on.
She also had two sisters, Norah and Bridget, and a brother Thomas who remained in Ireland.
Any information on Annie Clarke and her family would be very gratefully received.
Emma

Thursday, August 13, 1931-Orangeville Banner
A coroner's inquest into the death of five-year-old Rachel Anna Geraldine Clarke, who was killed August 1st on Highway 10 in front of her parents' home in Melancthon has resulted in a verdict of accidental death. The jury found that the little girl came to her death by running out suddenly in front of a motor car driven by John B.Kerr of Toronto."We think that the driver might have slowed up more than he did when he saw children on both sides of the road. We also think that the guardians of the children should have taken more precaution, considering the heavy holiday traffic on the highway."

I am trying to trace a Thomas George Clarke who was a munitions worker at the Woolwich Arsenal in London at least during 1916-1918. He married Annie Rosina Hewett, date unknown. I was hoping to trace their marriage lines but have been unable to do so.
However, it seems that Thomas was already married to some one else, identity unknown.
Thomas and Annie had 2 daughters Annie Rosina May born May 5th 1917 and Ellen Elizabeth Julia born 1st June 1918. Both girls were born in the Camberwell area of London.
Any information would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.
