I've only recently been starting to attach this family to my Clark line. I am descended from Albert and Perry was my great grandfather. It would be nice if you could send me a copy of this information because I am still trying to convince my grandmother that this is the correct Clark line for us.
Once I know that I've made contact with any of you in this thread, I'll go into more detail. You can contact me at mamime(a)cfaith.com.
Thank you.

Message Board Post:
Hello,
Nice to hear from you ! For some reason Ancestry decided I had to change my ID, (it was jan weems, now I will be janelle4katz.....they keep changing me and I am having an identity crisis....) Since your grandmother Louise Earle Whitehouse came from New Brunswick, and I know many of the Whitehouses left Roberts Island, (Yarmouth Cty.) NS and moved to NB, I would guess we are related ! I will throw some names in here, and see if anything sounds familiar to you....
My grandfather, Arthur Jackson Whitehouse was born on Roberts Island, Glenwood, Yarmouth Cty, NS, but I never met him...he died in 1947, I was born in '52. I know that his first cousin, William Whitfield Whitehouse was a member of the Whitehouse family which lived at Sharp Point, on the island. This was near to the original home built by William R.(Roberts?)Whitehouse 1st, born around 1778...he was an orphan, so the story goes, raised by the Jeremiah Frost family, in Argylle,NS then he lived his later life on Roberts Island. His son, Benjamin Joseph Whitehouse (my great-great grandpa) also built a home nearby. I have a picture of my dad as a child taken in front of the original homestead, which was apparently later moved out to Sharp Point and used as a storage shed for eel grass, which they harvested in the salt marshes and used to feed the cattle or for insulation in their homes...maybe you can find someone who is familiar with that story ! We visited Nova Scotia in!
1994, and explored the area, but were unable to access the land where the cellar holes for the two homes were, and may still be. The house at Sharp Point was torn down many years ago.
The house built by my great-grandfather Elihu Ritchie Whitehouse, a ship's carpenter among other things, is still there on Roberts Island and we were invited to go through that, a charming old place, it is owned by the Atkinson family and is known as the house on Ricker's Hill....Elihu married Eleanora Jane Ricker in 1868, her family lived next door. (That house is gone too). Her father, Charles Jackson Ricker, wrote a book, A History of Glenwood and the Argyles, in 1941...it was recently reprinted and names all of the families who originally settled the area. You might find some useful information in that....contact the Yarmouth Historical Museum, in Yarmouth, NS, to locate a copy. I have one of the original books, and will look in there for info about Earles/Clarkes....Also, try to contact Clayton Roberts, he is a historian and a curator of the Argyle Historical Society, I believe. He sent me a lot of info a few years ago. Look online ...google Yarmouth, NS, and the!
n Argyle Township, I think I saw an email address there for him recently. He could probably fill you in about the Earles.... Anyway, my dad, Arthur Wallace Whitehouse, (1918-1993) spent every summer until he was 18 or so, in that house with his family, as his father, Arthur Jackson Whitehouse, inherited the home when Elihu died in 1922. AJW was raised in that house, but his mother Eleanora died when he was about 10, circa 1893. His older sister, Ida Belle Whitehouse, who had married Archibald Morrill and had four children of her own, moved back in and raised him along with her family.
As to the Earle connection: William Whitfield Whitehouse was my grandfather Arthur Jackson Whitehouse's first cousin, and he had four or five sisters, not sure of all the names but I know there was an Emma Belle, an Evangeline, a Bertha, and another named Emily...there are pictures of those four girls in a photo album that belonged to my grandfather, Arthur. There are pictures of William Whitfield Whitehouse as well, with a lady named Blanche Roberts...I think she became his wife. Again, try to get in tough with Clayton Roberts....Now, I want to say that WWW's mother was named Emma Earle, but I'm not absolutely sure....there are pictures in there also of a George Earle, and a Harry Earle, if those names sound familiar. Cousins perhaps? Many of the pictures in this particular album were labeled, which helps, and they were mostly taken in Nova Scotia, some in Massachusetts, where my grandfather Arthur Jackson Whitehouse eventually moved and became a naturalized citizen of !
the US in 1915.
I corresponded with Evangeline Whitehouse(I think she also married a Roberts) many years ago, when I was in high school, and she sent me some quilt patterns !) I think she lived in New Brunswick, (but it may have been Ontario, I don't recall). I still have those patterns, in the original envelope, so I will hunt for them and see what her address was....this would have been around 1966-1970. I doubt if she is still living....and I don't know anything about her family, children or whatever, ...their father was a ship's cook, I think his name was Howard Whitehouse, he was either the son or grandson of William R. Whitehouse, and I know he was drowned in the wreck of the Orinoco, off Halifax I believe, around 1909, and his widow and her family then moved away, to NB....not sure if Whitfield went with them, though. I think he ended up moving to the Boston area when my grandfather did.
I know that our ancestor William R.Whitehouse 1st had a daughter named Louise, a sister of Benjamin my great-great grandfather....there were 14 children altogether in that family ! WRW had three wives...not all at once....they were Azubah Lovitt, Mercy Roberts,(my great-great-great grandmother...) and Miriam Frost, his adopted sister! Maybe Louise had a daughter/granddaughter named after her...or, your Louise was the daughter or granddaughter of one of her brothers or sisters. I'm not sure where the Earles came from, but there do seem to be a lot of them in the photo albums. We are related to the Crowell family of the Roberts Island area also.....apparently, all of these families emigrated to Nova Scotia, from Maine and New Hampshire, sometime either before or after the American Revolution, and stayed close, intermarried, etc. so it gets pretty confusing trying to straighten it all out.
When I have a chance to get at the information left by my dad, (we are in the midst of moving...) I will look for the names of Earle and Clarke ....we have a lot of old photos, and letters, etc. and he identified most of the pictures for me before he died in 1993, at age 74. The Clarke name is not familiar, but I may run across it in there too. If your cousin could take a look in the Clarke family bible, maybe you will find the Earle/Whitehouse connection we are looking for here !
If you find out anything, please email me at sabrakatz(a)hotmail.com, as it is hard to wade through all of these message boards and find who you need to talk to !!
I hope that some of this information will be helpful to you...and not tooooo confusing ! Please keep in touch with me, as I think we are probably related. I grew up in Illinois and now live in Wisconsin...I never met any of the family in Nova Scotia until 1994, due to some family turmoil in the past, but it is over now as most of them have died. There is another man who might help you -- I did not meet him then, but have since corresponded with him, he is Eric Whitehouse and lives in Yarmouth also, he owns a bookstore, and is deep into the family history, he is also a descendant of William R. Whitehouse 1st. Good luck with your hunt, Jan (Whitehouse) Weems

I am looking for information on Lynne Clarke who was living in Los Angeles, CA in April 1941. Lynne was born in New York in about 1926 and was the child of Ethel Prince and Bernard Fairfax who was a well-known vaudeville comedian. Ethel was the daughter of well-known stage actress Adelaide Prince, d. 1941, and her step-father was the actor Creston Clarke, d. in 1910. Orginally it was thought that Lynne Fairfax was female, but in Adelaide's April 1941 obituary, it stated she was survived by a "grandson Lynne Clarke, Los Angeles, CA." Lynne's uncle was the screenwriter Harry Clork (Clarke). Considering the family background, I'm thinking that Lynne was involved in the entertainment industry. Any help in locating information about this person would be very much appreciated.

I'm looking for the immigration records of my G-G Grandmother, Anne Jane Clarke. I *think* she was born about 1828 - hard to ascertain as each time I find a certificate her age (and therefore birth year) is listed differently. (No birth certificate ever found).
She married my G-G Grandfather Charles Wellington Quinn in Hartley in 1852 so I'm guessing she arrived shortly before that.
Ancestry has just released an index to Unassisted arrivals and there are 2 Anne J Clarkes on it, but as I don't have a subscription I can't see the details.
Can anyone help with any ideas?
Thanks
Angela
