I plan to be in the Northampton, Massachusetts area for a couple of days
starting Monday, April 21, 2008. This is my undocumented family of Clarks at
this time. I am looking to find documentation especially on Chester (1779)
and Grace (Thayer)(1781) Clark and their children. I would like to prove the
siblings. I am descended through Lewis Clark their son. The following is
what I have from family records. Also have some census records.
Any suggestions on where to look while I am there would be appreciated.
Thank you, Rose (Clark) Burkholder

I have a G-G-Grandfather who is my brick wall. I am going to grasp at straws. His name is George W Clark and he was born in Maryland in the 1830's. He married Mary Ellen McDonald. There first 2 children (Lillian F and John William) were born in Martinsburg, West Virginia. Then they moved to western Maryland. There were rumors that his family had owned property in London. So, the straws are hopefully Lillian and William may be family names and his relatives came from London.
Can you help me? Thanks,
Leon Clark.

Hey Anthony
McPhillips definitely figures in my family tree: my Grandfather's mother was a McPhilips
A stone were my relatives are buried in Shercock, Cavan, graveyard reads:
Erected by Patrick McPhillips
In memory of his mother
Alice McPhillips
Shercock
Who died 14 January 1921, aged 75 (or 73 hard to tell)years
Also his father
Thomas McPhillips
Shercock
Who died 20th of October 1921 aged 77 years
And my son James McPhillips
Who dies 6 January 1934 aged
Also my brother James McPhillips
Who died 22nd of March 1934, aged 61 years
And my wife Nora-Anne McPhillips
Who died 4th July 1943, aged 41 years
Also the above named
Patrick McPhillips
Who died 28 January 1952
aged 76 years
My grandfather's mother was one of the McPhillips's noted above. I do not have the relevant paperwork to hand, and have only just come across the CD with this photograph on (which I took about three years ago on a visit to Cavan and had forgotten about), and cannot remember who was who just at this moment (as I took quite a few pictures of gravestones that day). My granddad was born in 1898, so I presume that it is the Alison Thomas for whom the gravestone was originally erected that his maternal grandparents, as the dates roughly tie in.
Although not mentioned on the stone, one of my uncles is buried in this grave, who died in infancy.

Hello from Texas.
Have you searched www.familysearch.org.? If not, go there and spend some time hitting all of the Patricks, James, Sylvesters(in case it was transposed), and Thomas', along with the mother's name. It is a wonderful website. Good luck with your searches. I have hit a brick wall with my great-great grandfather, Michael Clarke, of Cavan Town, Cavan. Clarke was a fairly common name which makes it harder to research. They all used similar given names as well. My great grandfather was Edward, but he brothers named Patrick, a Sylvester, and a Thomas.
Happy Hunting,
Gail
