Thank You. Did you have a good Thanksgiving?
My son Alex and I went to his girlfriends house, we had fun
Bill took his friend to FL to see my Grandson, who I haven't seen yet.How
nice of him.
But they will be here at Christmas ,so I am looking forward to that. I have
spent the day going through my decorations. I love putting them up, its just
taking them down that I don't like.
We are supposed to get snow tonight, perhaps that will make me feel festive.
Take care Sue

I've recently found out that one of my relatives, George Henry Clarke (b1877 in Dudley) ended up moving to Sri Lanka where I think he later died around 1938. The only information I have is gleaned from the UK census information (upto 1891) so not sure if there's a military connection.
Can anyone suggest where I look for more information (preferably online sources) or if there's an 'obvious' reason why he would've ended up on the other side of the world.
Thanks!

Ann,
No I don't think we have a connection. There still many Clarks on Bogesky and they can be found in Baileboro. I have not been there for many years but I used to know a few of them.
I spoke once to a lady in New York who was a clark from Bogesky and she told me my clarks were not from there.
Funny thing how a clark married a clark. It happens a lot.
Regards,
Jack

Sandy (and anyone else related) maybe we can make a connection somehow. This is what I have:
Wm. James Clarke marries Fanny Roberts 17 Dec 1863, Brigus, NF. They ultimately moved to Montreal Quebec area.
Their children:
1) George Clarke b abt 1869 Brigus, NF
2) Wm. Henry Clarke (my descendant) b 19 Apr 1871 Brigus, NF, moved to Quebec, Montreal area, then moved to Vermont and lays to rest in Vermont.
3) James Clarke b 8 Sep 1873, Brigus, NF
4) Mary Anne Clarke aka/Anny b 5 Feb 1876, Brigus, NF
5) Bertha Lily Clarke aka Lily b 23 Jul 1878, Brigus, NF
6) Jessy Clarke b abt 1886, Brigus, NF
They all moved and I found them in 1891 Canada Census, Quebec, Hochelaga, Subdistrict St. Gabriel. We know Wm. James Clarke who married Fanny Roberts died after 1924 in Quebec, Montreal area. Probably all of the children were here as well.
I really need to find my cousins and find the above relatives resting places.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Renee

Hi Michele,
Thank you so much for your reply. I had no idea that Sabbath Clark had remarried or that he was a Vicar. And I appreciate knowing that there is a valid source through The College of Arms. Haven't had time to check out their website in full. Just briefly looked it over.
My great grandfather was William Bateman Clarke (1869-1943). This is the first time the "e" showed up in our lineage. Can't say why, but before him all the names were spelled without the "e". It is confusing.
I was given our Clark ancestral tree with entries back to William Clark and Catherine Thorne, but beyond that it was blank. So far, I have been able to trace the Clark line back to Joseph John Clark (1510-1557), but was not sure if I was correct or not.
Once again thank you. This was a big help. I will contact you if I have any more questions. Please feel free to do the same.
Best Regards,
Cara

Hello,
If anyone is researching families along the MA / VT border in the late
1700's / early 1800's, there is a BIBLE being sold on-line which you might
be interested in.
Betty (near Lowell, MA)
P.S. Still interested in my "concrete-block wall," James CLARK, born in
the 1790-1800 timeframe - somewhere. And, a possible William CLARK in
the Greater Boston area around 1900, who "might" be descended from him.
(I have no financial interest in the above item.)

I am looking for any information on my mother's uncle John William Clarke. Born apr 3 1882 in England. He came to the US about 1908. He lived in McKeesport,PA for a few years and later moved to Chicago. I only know he moved some time after 1910,since he was on the 1910 census. He left a wife and child behind. He later married in Chicago to a woman named Mary, I don't know when he married. But he did have 3 daughters. This I know because my mother had met them when she was younger. She says their names were Valeri, Louise and Jacquelin and were born between 1936 and 1942. I know John did not live too much longer than this, sometime in the mid 1940s. My grandfather had gone to the funeral. My grandfather died in 1945, so it was before this.

Hi Cara
Yes the information you have on the Clarke's you mentioned is correct. Sabbath Clark was the Vicar of Tarvin and had 5 known sons and one daughter. Also Sabbath remarried after Elizabeth's death. I have the info if you don't have all names. The Clark line from Sabbath down is on file at The College of Arms in London. The e is not on the end of Clark on these files. The spelling of Clark gets quiet confusing at times, I'm not sure why the e appears and disappears.
Anyway hope this has helped you, let me know if you need any info.
Michele
