Hi Michele,
I was wondering if you had any information or records on any of the following people:
John Clark - b. 20 Mar 1614 Chelmsford, Essex, England
d. 5 Feb 1674 Milford, New Haven, Connecticut, USA.
His father, Sabbath Clark - b. 1587 Staffordshire, England
d. 30 Mar 1663 Tarvin, Cheshire, England
His mother, Elizabeth Overton b. abt 1600 Bedworth, Warwickshire, England d. 1646 Tarvin, Cheshire, England
His brother, Samuel Clark - b. 1619 Devon, England d. 1690 New Haven, Connecticut, USA
I am not sure if the information I have is correct as there are no records to substantiate it. It is complied from Ancestry.com family tree info.
I question the age of Elizabeth Overton, as she would have been 14 when she had her first son! Guess it is possible, but it would be nice to know for sure.
It also seems weird that John would be born in Chelmsford, but both of his parents lived and died in Tarvin and his brother is listed as being born in Devon.
Anyway, I was hoping you or someone else could shed some light on this.
Thanks,
Cara

Good morning,
I'm hoping to come across someone related to the above man. He was
b. around 1831-1835, and his Army records, from his time in India, say he
was born at St. Helier, Jersey, father William, mother unknown. I haven't
been able to find him on Jersey, and have come to a dead end, a big brick
wall. I'm wondering if he could have been born elsewhere???
His attestation was in Essex, July 1858, he went to India with the
Army, then transferred to the Indian railway police, and died in India in
1912.
He married Jane Ellen SMALL in 1862, and they had 10 children.
If anyone has Clarke rellies who were born in India, there could be a
connection.I think some went to Canada, and also to England.
These are their children:-
Mary Jane Clarke (born on 1 Nov 1864 in India. - died on 10 Nov 1885 in
India.).
Henrietta Charlotte Clarke (born on 6 Apr 1867 in Unknown - died on 2 Nov
1956 in Nearfield House, St. Chad, Staffordshire, UK.).
Frederick William Clarke (born on 30 Apr 1875 in India. - died on 23 Oct
1919 in No. 4 General Hospital, Randwick, Sydney, Nsw).
Matilda Margaret Clarke (born on 26 May 1877 in India.).
James Henry Clarke (born on 1 Jun 1880 in India.).
Isabella May Clarke (born on 31 Aug 1881 in India.).
Violet Annie Clarke (born on 25 Sep 1883 in India.).
Mary Jane Clarke (born on 1 Nov 1864 in India. - died on 10 Nov 1885 in
India.).
Maria Jane Clarke (born in 1886 in India.).
Arthur Ernest Clarke (born on 30 Oct 1888 in Khagole, India.).
John Percy Clarke (born on 10 May 1890 in India.).
Hoping someone will own these ancestors,
Cheers,
Jill Glover

Hi Gary
Like you I am having no luck in finding out about William's parents. Bad luck there being two William Clarkes born around the same time. Did you find them on parish records?Thomas is the brother of John. There was also William 1850 and Charles 1856. Do you have any info on them?
William and Martha lived in Madeley until at least 1871 when I lose track of them. Possibly died. John also stayed in Madeley as did his son John Henry and his son Arthur. It was Arthurs son Alec (Dave's father) who eventually moved over this way. he is however back living in Hanley Staffs.
If you would like full details of all these let me know. It might be easier to send it direct to your email address.
Cheers
Dawn

Hi Barb,
It's somewhat sad to read about researchers who have researched an ancestor
for 20-30 years. I've only been at it for 10-15 years, but, if you
include my mother's and her mother's investigations, it could add up to 30
years.
FYI: Rhoda MANCHESTER lived all or most of her life in Westport, MA.
Her first husband was Epaphroditus LAVARE, and they had 2 sons, and then she
was pregnant with a daughter when he "died at sea." A few years later
Rhoda married to James CLARK/E (1829), and they had only one child that I
know of, or only one child who survived - Mary Anna "Molly" CLARK, b1826.
You mentioned your Alexander CLARK being in the 1880 census. Have you
looked in the other census years?
Betty (near Lowell, MA)

Hi Kay
My Clark/e family that I am checking are as follows:
James Clark b1792 at Bishops Stortford mrd Anne Wood.
One child from this marriage is Charles Clarke who married a Catherine Murphy in Australia
I have not been able to find any other children for James and Anne but this is why I think there may be some connection from this person, James.
The parents of James were John Clarke b 1769 mrd Mary Brett in 1790 again in Bishops Stortford. They had 12 children including James
Happy to communicate off the board if you wish on cctc(a)suke.com.au
Cheers for now

Hi Betty,
I have been following your story for many years, and glad that you sent a

I am currently in Nova Scotia, Can; but next week will be on my way South

Wish I could share "closure" with you. I am still seeking Parents/ Siblings
of Alexander Clark (e) , bc: 1844, Scotland. M: Mary BOYD, b: Oct 1850,
Paisley, Renfrew, Scot. Emig. first to Grantham, Lincoln Co. Ontario,
Canada; 3 kids and then further emig to Attleboro, Bristol Co. MA. USA.
Have the BOYDs information , deaths, burial in RI... but nothing more on
Alexander Clark after 1880 MA. Census.
Keep in touch. From memory, I believe that you said that James or Rhoda &
James had 2 Sons before the daughter Mary Anna Clark in 1846... Do you have
the names of those two sons? Could one of them be: Alexander Clark, bc:
1844?? I would be interested in knowing that.
My great-grandmother: Mary BOYD, Married 2ndly: June 1893 in RI..to Henry
Rostron... so something happened to Alexander Clark before that date.
My search is now 30 years...worth.
Best always...
Barb Clark

Hi Nancy,
No - I haven't found the material. But I do remember sending at least some of the originals to another researcher. I will continue to look through my emails and folders to see if there's a chance it might still be on my computer. I found the information in Goldfield, Nevada - a tiny little town with an antique store with great things. Perhaps a google search could bring that up? But I'll continue looking - I seldom send off anything without at least a backup copy on the computer. I'll keep in touch - please contact me off list at sug53(a)earthlink.net
