Message Board Post:
George Clarke was born in Ireland in 1833, emigrated to Canada, and then from Canada to USA in 1852. He was a Methodist Episcopal Minister from 1860 until his retirement in 1914 (serving mainly around New York State and in New Jersey, I think); died at home in Ocean Grove, N.J. in 1921. I've just learned that he was a brother of my ancestor John Clarke (b. 1821) -- so, if George appears in anyone's family tree, I hope you might be able to tell me his parents & other information. Happy to share what I know!
Most of the info I've got about George came from his obituary (New York Times, Jan. 20, 1921) and other online sources. I've found he was married to Lydia A. Barber, who predeceased him in 1908; their children (from the 1880 census) were Emory, William, Grace, Emma Bell, Helen and Cora.

Hi, I have just been trawling through old messages (as I am a new-by at family tree research). Anyway I am a descedent of Clode. Emily Clode's parents were William Clode c. 1808-1880 born South West of England and married Mary Ann Bond c. 1808-1893 from Dorchester, Dorset UK died in Cardiff South Glamorgan.
William Clode's parents were John Clode c.1775 and Ann Raymond c.1775. From Sidbury, Devon, England UK. I can give you more info, which I have got from a living Clode.
Your Emily Clode was my Thomas Clode's brother -one of many. Thomas married and had children one of whom was Clara who was my GG Grandmother.

My grandmother was Kathleen Molloy born 1912 in Dublin. Her father was Joseph Molloy born Laois c1865
Joseph Molloy appears on the Dublin 1911 census as living at 9 Emorville Road, Dublin. He was a widower at the time of the census.
My grandmother Kathleen Molloy had a sister Josie and a brother Joseph..... as well as stepsisters Josephine and Alice-Mary and a stepbrother Daniel (from her dads previous marriage)
Josephs 2nd wife was my great grandmother KATHLEEN CLARKE from Offaly (we think) born c 1885.
She was the youngest of 4 children. Her 3 brothers were James, Edward & Patrick. Its said that their parents died young and that there is a possibility Kathleen was brought up in an orphanage?? I'm unsure re the brothers inc James....
Does this tie in with any Clarke or Molloy searches out there? I'd appreciate any help at all given the rather limited info I have to date...
Many thanks!
Lisa

My great grandmother, Eliza Anne Clark, had a sister, ELLEN, born Jul 1847 Dunmanway, County Cork, Ireland and died 16 Mar 1904 Erie, Erie Co, PA. She married David German on 27 Nov 1867. Her father and mother were Goodhand Clark and Elanor Broadfield. Let me know if this ELLEN fits into anyone's genealogy.

I don't know if you are still searching for information on Clarke's, or if there is any relation of my Clarke's to your Clarke's, but my 2nd great grandfather George Clarke went from London, England to Lyttleton, New Zealand then was promptly transferred to Timaru, New Zealand in July 1859. Maybe there is a relationship between William and George? I would love to hear if you have come up with anything on them.

I am searching for the parents of my great grandmother Mina Mae Clarke, who married Chester Carol Barefield in Jenkins Co. GA prior to 1920. After 1930 they moved to Sampson Co. NC. She was most likely born around 1892. Her first name may also be spelled Minna (I think that's how my grandmother pronounced it) and last name may be spelled without the "e".
I would appreciate any help. and can fill in the blanks on some of her childred if anyone's interested.
thanks, Meredith
