I am very interested in this family. I have a book called the Bible Family & Marriage Records (Gleaned form Pension Applicatons) Vol. 7 by Deidre Burridge Dagner. In this book she writes: VA/VA Field Clark m. Mary Lester, 5 Jul 1774 by Parson McRoberts of the old Episcopal Church of England, Chesterfield Co., VA R-222. Bible Record Field Clark, son of Allison Clark and Blanch his wife, born 30 Apr. 1751. Field Clark married Mary his wife, daughter of Jacob Lester 5 Jul 1774. Field Clark was born again not of the flesh, but of the spirt of God in Chesterfield County May 1780 and was Baptized and moved into the county of Lunenburg in Dec. 1780. Field Clark, son of Peter Clark, born 2 Mar. 1778. Field Clark, Sr. died 29 Jan. 1832, aged 80 years, 8 month, 29 days. Births Charity's first child was born 26 Feb. 1837, named William, Patty's fifth child was born 26 Mar. 1839, named Betsy Ann.
That is all that is written. Please can anyone tell me, is the Field Jr. listed on the 1820 Lunenburg census. the child of Peter? or of Field Sr. - or the son of Shadrack? I think I saw where Shadrack's son was born abt. 1797. Also, do you know who George Clark is that is listed on the 1810 Lunenburg Census? Can anyone help me straighten out this family? Does anyone know how many Field Clark's were born in this family? And what year they were born in?
Dianna

Hi there. I am also researching the Clark's of Madison County AL. Not sure if/how we relate, but I did find this bit of info at the Huntsville Library a while back.
William H. "Billy" Clark died July 27, 1911. He was shot by Stapler in the woods at an ice cream party at the old log school house. He is buried in Clark Cemetary, with a monument, in Clark Hollow. His father was Thomas Wilkerson Clark and mother Eliza J. Seward. I show that he married Amanda J. "Jennie" Smoot and had 11 children.
Good luck!

Hi! This is all that I can find on the location of the Manor House of Wrestlingworth. The Lord of the Manor was named John Harris or some say Hargis. His daughter Elizabeth married Dr. John Clarke of Westhorpe, Suffolk Co.
It appears that Dr. John married up and he was looked down upon by the Harris'/Hargis'. When Dr. John went back to England as the agent of the colony of R.I., his wife went with him. Elizabeth's people (her brothers) still thought little of Dr. John. While in England, John Harris/Hargis died and left Elizabeth an inheritance of 20 pounds per year for the rest of her life. She never received a penny of this because the family despised Dr. John.
This manor was called Westlingworth and various other spellings. It was located in Bedfordshire, England.
Hope this helps. I don't know if there is still a manor house there or if it was torn down.
Thanks for your interest.
Til Later,
Arlene Clarke Haddock

Seems to me, I've seen an Alexander Clarke married to Mary, with an older
Boyd female living in the residence in St. Lawrence County, New York. If
your interested I can do some checking, although it will take me a few days.

Hello Harold,
Will you share a little more about your Clarke Family? What was your Mother and Sister's names?
When did they emigrate to Canada? Do you know the ship that they came on and its Ports of embarkation and debarkation? And the Dates? Did they have a Brother: Alexander
CLARKE?
Where were they settled in Ontario, Can? Were they granted land or assigned to another Family?
Who were their Parents and Siblings? Did they also immigrate to Ontario, Can?
I am seeking the Parents and Siblings of my Great-grandfather: Alexander CLARK/e... bc: 1844 in Scotland per Census records. He supposedly married: Mary BOYD, b:28 oct 1850,
Paisley, Renfrew, Scotland. No marriage record found as yet. She was the Daughter of John BOYD & Mary GUTHRIE.
I know the BOYD family emigrated from Scotland, via Ireland, and Liverpool, Eng. to Grantham, Lincoln Co. Ontario, Can. (Perhaps via Quebec). in 1870.(If interested, I will
check notes for the Ship and Location where they were granted land in Ont.Can. )
Alexander CLARK/e & Mary BOYD had at least a Daughter, Mary b:28 Oct 1872, in Grantham; Lincoln Co. Ont. Can. Per Birth Register.
A Son: William Alexander CLARK, born: 17 Feb 1877, in Merritton, Lincoln Co. Ont. Can.(NO birth record found as yet.) .. (My Paternal Grand-father)..
Another Son: John CLARKE , born: about 1878, in Canada. (NO records as yet.)
This CLARK/e Family emigrated from Ontario, Can. about 1 April 1879 via the The New York Central Railway to Buffalo, Erie Co. NY. (This date/ place from my Grandfather's
Naturalization Papers). The CLARK/es went to Attleboro, Bristol Co. MASS USA and appeared on that 1880 Census.
The John BOYD Family emigrated about the same time frame and went to : Lincoln, Providence Co. RI. USA. and were on the 1880 RI Census at that location. John BOYD's Brother:
Archibald BOYD and his family were in another part of Ontario and they emigrated also about 1879 and were living near John BOYD's Family in Lincoln, Providence Co. RI.
Thank you for your time. Any possible connections to these Families?
Barb Clark,... Presently enjoying scenic Nova Scotia, Can.

Harold,
This e-mail finally caught my attention. My Clark male and my Wilson female
that married came from families within the same area of trade as your
Clark's. My Clark's were harnessmakers and my Wilson's were shoemakers.
When did your family center first enter the US and where did they put down
there first roots?

Hi Carole.
This really is a long shot but I thought I would have a go. I am researching Clarkes from London around the mid 19th century. I have a Thomas Arthur Clarke born circa 1847 in Middlesex. He was a soldier. His father was a John Clarke who was a sailor.
Thomas married and had 4 children, 3 of whom had red hair. I dont expect there is any link there but I live in hope of finding a connection somewhere. I just wondered if any of these names or professions rang a bell with you?
Thanks anyway

Hello,
I am seeking any information on the William B Clark/ Clarke family.
He was born abt 1829 in NY, married to Adelia Whipple in NY between 1850 and 1855 and moved with her family to Hillsdale MI by 1860.
He is found 1855 NY state census in Saratoga Co NY with Joel, Martha, Francis, and Adelia Whipple.
In 1860 he is in Hillsdale, MI. as a merchant
Children are William B Clark, b. 1857 NY,
Vera Adelia, b. 22 Aug 1858 NY,
Walter F Clark, b. 1859 MI or NY
Eugene Clark, b. 1862 MI,
Albert E Clark, b. 1865 MI
I find Adelia/ Addie/ Adelaide in 1870 with the children and her parents in Port Huron, but no children father listed.
By 1880, Adelia/ Adelaide is listed as a widow, and only has Vera and Albert at home.
Vera never married, and I have no leads on any of the boys or their father.
Both Vera and her mother are buried in MI and headstones say CLARKE.
Census takers have used a variety of spellings for Adelia and Vera.
Does anyone know anything about William?, his parents etc?, children etc???? was he ever in Civil War? Canada?
what happened to him?? Did he have siblings? The censuses from 1840 do not show children, darn it. William is not listed with his family in 1850 in saratoga co NY.
His father in law Joel Whipple was a stonecutter, he made headstones etc. William has been listed as a merchant. I do not know if he learned that trade as well.
Thank you so much for any help

Upon the deaths of Mary Ann and Catherine Ann Clark, I received two large, framed portraits (approx. 19 x 23") of what are believed to be their paternal grandparents, Michael Francis Clarke and Mary Neville Clark (Clarke), along with other documents that may be of interest to Michael & Mary's descendants. Photos of the portraits are attached.
The following is a synopsis of what information I have about the family:
Mary Ann and Catherine's father, Matthew Francis Clark(e), was born in New York City on July 2, 1877 and died on May 24, 1966 in Kinderhook, NY. Matthew was married to Mary Navom Clark on September 4, 1922 in Stuyvesant Falls, NY.
Matthew Francis Clark(e) was reportedly one of eight children born to Michael F. and Mary N. Clark(e). The other known children are Polly Clarke (died May 14, 1873 at age 2); Mary Clarke (died May 15, 1895 at age 2 years 6 months); and according to Mary Ann Clark, Rose Clark Langford.
John Clarke purchased a grave in Calvary Cemetery on May 14, 1873 presumably for Polly Clarke.
Photos from the mid 1930's include John Windhurst, "a cousin visiting from the Bronx."
If you are directly related to Michael and Mary Clark(e), or know someone who might be related, please contact me so that I can arrange to provide the items I have concerning the family.
