I noticed -- see below -- that one of the children of ROBERT CLARK &
Christiana PORTIS was named Matthew Elliot Clark (b. 1821) --
no date or place of death given; does anyone know if this Matthew Elliot
Clark might have emigrated to the USA, specifically New York State? It's a
very long shot, but my great-grandfather was called Robert Elliott Clarke
(born about 1855 in New York) and his father came from England. I know
nothing more about his parents, but have been wondering if the
Elliott/Elliot name could provide a clue.
Does anyone know any more about him? Even wild suggestions gratefully
received!

Hi Debby:
I'm going to give you all I know of my Clark ancestors. You'll see there are holes in my research. All the information I have was gathered by my Grandfather whose mother was a Clarke that came from two Clarke families. He put this history together in 1993. I don't have specific dates only years and I don't have place of birth for most. I just know that the majority of my family came from or ended up in the Prince Edward County area. I'm not sure that this would help you in any way but I thought I'd let you decide that for yourself.

I'm seeking information about Edwin Reuben Clark(e) who died March 2, 1880 in Knoxville, TN. He was married to Mary Ann Sessler, who died May 14, 1873 in Knoxville. I've got the cemetary information but an obituary would be great as well as any information. I've done research over the years on this family but have failed to find out much about Edwin.
Any help would be appreciated!

missaribel,
Thank you for posting. I might as well look for Clarkes in Prince Edward County, since I can't find out anything about them in Peterborough except where they're buried. Maybe they immigrated through that county before landing in Pboro. Meanwhile, please let me know if you find anything.
