Sir:
I advise you from the papers in the Revolutionary War pension claim, R.
10071/2, it appears that Noah Clark was born March 5, 1763 in Morris
County, New Jersey, names of parents not stated.
While residing in said county, he enlisted May 1, 1779 and was a private
in Captain Israel Wards Company, Colonel Seelys New Jersey Regiment and
was in a skirmish at Elizabethtown Point; about September 1, 1779, he was
allowed to go home.
He applied for pension September 1, 1841, while a resident of Stony
Creek topwnship, Somerset County, Pennsylvania, but his claim was not
allowed as he did not render six months service.
He stated that on November 1796 his house burned, and two of his
children perished in the flames. The name of his wife is not on record,
nor the names of his children.
Respectfully,
R. W. Morgan
Acting Commissioner

Question: Is there a newspaper report or official report of this
tragic event? Evidently no newspaper in the area at that time but
the neighboring counties often reported such things. York Co? German
language newspapers/periodicals? What about funeral or death notices?

Subject: Re: Lawrence Co., Alabama Marriages - LETHA CLARK -
I am searching for anything on the D Sherman Clark family. He had a
brother's Samuel and Joe Clark and his father was Tom Clark. Sherman
was born in Mogan county 1868. He mariied my gr. grandmother Chelsey (Chell)
Raley. They had three children who were Arthur Clark, Delia Clark Powell, (my
grandmother) and Gertrude (Gert) Clark Flowers.
He went to the field to work one day and didn't come back home when the
children were small.
His sister told my gr. aunt that he had remarried in Tn. Later they heard
that his wife had died and he moved to Texas to be near where his brother Samuel
lived.
His sister told my Gr. aunt not to try to contact him that he didn't want
anything to do with them. I bet he didn't. He was a bigamist and my grandfather
Powell was a lawyer. LOL
He was suppse to have had children by the woman in Tn. Her husband died and
she had children and married Sherman who was still married to my grandmother.
Of course, she probably didn't know that.
I hope someone can help me connect to this family. He had other siblins.
and I think his father was married about three times.

I am trying to find a second marriage for my husbands gt grandfather. He married between 1909 and 1918 and his wifes name was Emma but I have no idea of her surname. I have gone all throught the GRO writing to all the possible registrars and have drawn a blank. I am now wondering if they married in either Scotland or Ireland but I do not have access to any records. Is there any way I can find out if such a marriage took place in either of these countries?
The name of my husband sgt grandfather is Thomas Clarke and he was born in the 1840s in London. His first wife died in 1909, also called Emma, but on the electoral roll in 1918, when the vote was allowed for married women and in Kellys I can find a wife living with him called Emma.
He died in 1930 in Weymouth and she disappeared from the electoral roll in 1932. He is buried on his own and Emma Clarke is listed as owner of the grave.
Hoping that someone may be able to give me some advice as I would like the certificate to confirm several things about him,ie his fathers name and also a date of birth, as the facts I have on him are very limited.
Thanking you
Rachel Clarke
