Joe,
I've again started trying to locate my elusive Clark ancester. I'm not
terribly convinced that his date of birth was 1802, but I believe that I
arrived at that date based upon some notes from my mother.
He did marry Frances Laura West in Peoria Co., IL on Apr 20, 1841. She
was from Washington Co., NY, probably Granville, and she was also born
about 1802.
It's possible that my Almon is the one mentioned below, and it might
help if we knew if Susan Clark died before 1840 or so, if they were in
Washington Co., NY, etc.
Thanks.

Harry Henry William Matthew Clark Born June 24, 1857. Bedfordshire area England. Married Matilda Chalmers October 10, 1886 Staffordshire England. Immigrated tp Philadelphia October 1887. Harry H.W.M. Clark died March 6,1926. In Upper Darby Pa.
His parents were Matthew and Sarah Clark.
Would be interested in knowing if anyone else is searching this family.
Thank you
Robert Clark
I did it pretty much the same way in Jan 2004. In my case, I haven't
come up with an exact match yet. There is only one Clark contributor
with whom I have a genetic distance of 1. (This means there is a
probability of 70% that he and I share a common ancestor within the past
600 years.)
If the test does not tie you to one study group it may tie you to a
different group or, at least, get your name out there for others to
match later. At least it rules out certain lines.

able to trace my family to Virginia { South Carolina is as far as we can

There were in Patrick Co. VA early 1810 John Clark SR. A Henry Clark SR and

find some ages for some of these folks in Patrick Co. Online.
Further connecting John Clark SR and Jr to Jesse Clark is this record.
John Clark Jr m. Elizabeth Wright 1811 is this inventory of Robert Wright

As for Fleming son of Jesse and Lucy Pedigo, his mother Lucy (Pedigo) Clark

I don't know about Henry for sure. Just that the records show an
association with the same people
Also, dau of John Clark Jr wound up in same area as Henry Clark and there
is a death record stating she is dau of John and Elizabeth Clark of Patrick

have access to all the wills of Patrick Co. VA.

there is a deed from Jesse to Henry. It is known that Fleming Clark is a

Dennis,
Unfortunately, I am aware of only two Clark DNA studies through Family Tree
DNA (FTDNA)--one for Pennsylvania Clarks and one for Virginia Clarks
entitled the Colonial DNA Project. Since most Clarks who migrated to NC, SC,
GA, TN, KY and parts west probably went through Virginia at some point, my
Clarks who were in KY when it was considered to be a part of Virginia and
may have come from NC and/or PA were still qualified to participate in the
project. While we have lots of possibilities, we're still stuck in KY.
The PA Clark project seems to be more exclusive than the VA Clark project,
however it seems to me that anyone traveling to OH would have gone through
PA if they were coming from the New England states. Wasn't Ohio once
considered to be a part of PA?
National Geographic also has a dna project. It's possible to have your dna
tested elsewhere and join a project later. The Colonial Clark DNA project
has several participants who came in that way.
If you can't get your foot in the door that way, perhaps interested New
Englanders could band together to start your own project. I don't know what
s involved, but the project managers of other projects might be willing to
give you some pointers.

Fay and others,
I have been eagerly waiting for word of a Clark DNA study that has Clark
families participating that migrated across the Northern Route of the US. My
Clark line (Elias) came to America shortly after 1755 and migrated across
the US in this fashion: CT-(NY-NJ) NY from 1800-1830, Ohio, and Mi in 1849.
Later some of this line would migrate west to California and Washington
State. If anyone knows of such a study please enlighten me.

I cannot overemphasize how important it is for male descendants of this line
bearing the Clark surname participate in the Clark DNA Project! I keep
getting my lines tangled with these, all because
1. The naming patterns are so similar.
2. Where they lived overlaps where mine lived.
3. Other families from Patrick Co migrated to Wayne Co KY and were connected
with my lines.
I really do suspect there might be a connection between my Clark lines and
this Patrick Co VA Clark line belonging to Jesse Clark & Lucy Pedigo, but we
may never know for sure if no one steps forward to participate in the
project!
Isn't this the line that belongs to Jesse Clark b. ca. 1800 who married a
WEST? I think he was very briefly in Wayne Co KY on the same 1830 census
record as my Jesse Clark b. 1801... I don't think it was a coincidence....

I have talked to a few people that claim the above people as their ancestors
however none have our Henry Clark listed as a s/o Jesse Clark and Lucy
Pedigo.
Question: Who made this connection and were did they find the proof?
We have been to Patrick Co. Va. and we found nothing except a marriage
record
for Henry Clark and Ruth Mize, Marriage record for Mary Polly Clark (d/o
Henry Clark and Ruth Mize) to Thomas Key Campbell 1845.
Clark deeds are plenty in Patrick Co. Va. Were are the wills for this
County??? Wills give names of children. Some family members has bought and
sold much
land, I would hate to think that a 100 years from now that someone doing
research would say they are related to these people that was nothing but a
business
transaction.

Fay and others,
I have been eagerly waiting for word of a Clark DNA study that has Clark families participating that migrated across the Northern Route of the US. My Clark line (Elias) came to America shortly after 1755 and migrated across the US in this fashion: CT-(NY-NJ) NY from 1800-1830, Ohio, and Mi in 1849. Later some of this line would migrate west to California and Washington State.

I am seeking any information regarding Anna M. Bishop, born in Dryden,
Tompkins Co., NY in 1836 - died in Harford, Cortland Co., NY in 1871. She
was the first wife of Uriah H Clark (1829 - 1889). Anna was the daughter of
Joel Bishop and Maria Head. Anna and Uriah had three children; Andrew
Bishop Clark, Georgianna Clark, and Mary Jane Clark. I am seeking the
parents of Joel Bishop and Maria Head, but would be most appreciative of
anything that someone can give me about this family.
Anna Bishop and Uriah Clark are my 2nd great grandparents.
Thank you,
Patty

Thanks Carol for your help.
Who are the descendants of this Fleming Clark? Anyone living today that
descends from this family? Cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, g- gg- ggg- ?????
Henry Clark b. 16 August 1805 died abt.1882 We are sure he was buried at the
John Clark Cemetery in Mercer Co. Wv. The stone can not be read. John Clark is
my husbands great-grandfather and the youngest son of Henry Clark & Ruth Mize.
Rootsweb sites lists our Henry Clarks parents as:
1. Jesse Clark & Lucy Jesse Pedigo
2. Christopher Henderson Clark & Charlotte Elizabeth Hook
3. Joseph Clark & Mary Britton
We know that our Henry Clark is not the s/o all these parents, some sites are
listing other family members even my husbands mother is listed so how do
these people post all these sites with all this personal information and no one is
related?
If you are related to this family please reply or if you know who Henry
Clarks parents are?
Hope to see lots of discussion about this matter.

Here some records and notes. Some have this Henry Clark as a son of Jesse
Clark of Patrick Co. VA. Deeds show that they deeded to the same folks and
there is a deed from Jesse to Henry. It is known that Fleming Clark is a
son of Jesse and wife Lucy Pedigo see the deeds below seem to tie this
family together.
