Hi Jerry...
Here's what I have on James, the brother of Jeremy...
It appears that he died in England and therefore did not come to
America...
=====================
From "Genealogical Research in England"; Clarke; Contributed by Alfred
Rudolph Justice of Ardmore, PA, and communicated by the Committee on
English Research.
The will of James Clarke, Citizen and grocer of London, dated 6, December
1647; To wife Helen a one third part of all my goods, another one-third
part to my children, James, Mary, and Anne Clarke, and the remaining
one-third to my brother Richard Clarke, and if he die to his children. To
my son James the lease of my house where I now live. To wife Helen the
lease of the house where Joe Nutt the drugster dwells, and after her
death, to my daughters, Mary and Anne. Executrix: wife Helen. Proved 10
September 1649.
This research was intended to prove the lineage of Jerimiah Clark(e) who
was prominent among the early settlers of Newport RI.
Yes I think we can rule out Sarah Harvey as the wife of James of New
Haven for she was the first wife of James the Grocer of London. It
appears that they had a daughter Mary who was a year old in 1633. Other 2
children, James and Anne probably with 2nd wife Helen!!
================
The Clarke/Saxby/Weston line is covered in Vol. 74 (1920) of The New
England Historical Genealogical Register. The family of William and Mary
(Weston) Clerke appears on pages 131-132. Their third child James is
given as: iii. James of Aldergate Ward, London, grocer, the testator of
1647, bapt. 31 Oct. 1602; d. between 6 Dec. 1647 and 10 Sept. 1649; m.
(1) about 1630 Sarah Harvey; m. (2) Helen______, who was living 6 Dec.
1647. His name is attached to the pedigree of Clerk of "Allgate Ward"
which is printed in the Visitation of London, vol. 1, page 172, and has
been described above (page 73). Children, living 6 Dec. 1647, the first
one certainly by first wife: 1. Mary, one year old in 1633. 2. James. 3.
Anne.
One of James' brothers, Jeremiah, commonly called Jeremy, did migrate and
was of Aquidneck (Rhode Island) by 1638. This family and descendants are
included in George Morrison's Clarke Families of Rhode Island.

Here's what i have on the James of New Haven:
================
John DAVENPORT and Theophilus EATON organized a company to begin a
plantation in the New World. During DAVENPORT's stay in the United
Netherlands, he had received glowing accounts of New England from John
COTTON. Theophilus EATON carried with him all of the books of the
Massachusetts Bay Company, and the authorization of the grantees of the
Earl of Warwick to negotiate with the settlers on the Connecticut River
regarding title to their lands. With this nucleus, many inhabitants of
the parish of St Stephen, Coleman Street, London, joined as one group.
Among those named was James CLARK, all with family names found in the
accounts of the churchwardens of the parish. In addition others were
named who came from various other parishes.
The "Hector", an almost new vessel of about 250 tons burden, (which had
already made one voyage to MA Bay Colony) was chartered, but was delayed,
even after the group had involved their estates, paid their passenger
money, and provisioned the ship. The crown stepped in with its
authority, and instead of leaving port on Jan 19, 1637, enforced waiting
occurred. With knowledge of the venture by Archibishop LAUD, the
"Hector" was freed and set sail. James CLARK sailed with them from
England, and arrived at Boston Harbor on June 26, 1637 (Ref A). The
company stayed there for a year while they scouted for a suitable place
for their new settlement. They decided on New Haven, then known as
Quinnipiac, in the Fall of 1637 but it was then too late in the year to
start a new settlement so they waited until the Spring of 1638 to move
everyone there. James & others named it New Haven CT & founded The New
Haven Colony, CT (1638). He signed the Plantation Covenant, and had a
Plantation of his own there, which is found on a 1641 map of New Haven.
The book Connecticut (among others) has an excellent map of New Haven
with the names of the proprietors of land and plantations of New Haven
1641. James CLARK's plantation, with his name inscribed thereon, may be
seen on this map along with the other Colonist's names.
Rev. John DAVENPORT and Theophilus EATON were prominant land owners.
EATON eventually became Governor of the Colony.
Much has been written about St. Stephen, Coleman Street Church, London;
it burned and was rebuilt over the many years. Originally begun as
Jewish synagogue dating back to 1291 of record, it was a chapel for St
Olave Old Jewry of the 13th and 14th century, it became a parish in 1456.
The Church was burnt in the Great Fire of London and Sir Christopher Wren
rebuilt the church 1674-76. It was finally bombed out of existence in
1940 and only a plaque indicates its site in London on Coleman St..
James CLARK married as his second wife, Ann WAKEFIELD widow of John
WAKEFIELD of New Haven Colony, (CT) who was NOT the mother of his
children. The 1st wife is not known according to most authorities.
(some incorrectly say it was Sarah HARVEY or Sarah HARREY, but is not
really known although we think we have found another James CLARKE, grocer
from London that married Sarah HARVEY, See note below).
James & Ann removed to Stratford CT possibly because the New Haven
Colony, which had problems, was taken over by the Connecticut Colony, a
stronger, more successful Colony. So, circa 1660s (Savage says before
1669), Stratford became the newer home for James and his family.
Plantagenet Ancestry of Seventeenth-Century Colonists, page 65, 1, iii,
says: "JAMES CLERKE, baptised 31 Oct 1602, of Aldgate Ward, London,
grocer; married, first, SARAH HARVEY, second HELEN______. Issue."

Of Early Connecticut by Prentiss Glazier.
James Clark (ca. 1610-post 1661) of New Haven was probably a brother of
John. By his first wife he had: Mary, Sarah, James (of Stratford); and
prob. Marcy, Samuel, dau who m. Nathaniel Sanford, Susan and Ebenezer (of
Wallingford). The family is well traced by Donald Lines Jacobus, Families
of Ancient New Haven (1924), 2:407-413.; The American Genealogist 9:60
and 31:130-1.; The mother of his children was perhaps born Fernes or was
perhaps Sarah Harvey (incorrect!),, but no proof has been found. He was
probably not the legatee mentioned in Henry F. Waters, Genealogical
Gleanings in England (1907), 2:1256/7, for no brother John is mentioned.
It is probable that this ref. is to James of Roxbury, Ma.
-----------------------
The James Clark mentioned aboard the "Hector" should be cautioned. The
"Hector" travelled with another ship. (name unknown) This company was
lead by Davenport. Deacon George Clark and other Hertfordshire families
probably came in the second ship. These Hertfordshire famililies settled
New Haven, CT in 1638 and later settled Milford in 1639. Many of these
families still exist today.

Woman misses stop sign, dies
An 86 year old woman from Wiergate was killed Saturday when she ran a stop sign and collided with another pickup.
Velma G. Clark died at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital less than two hours after the collision about a mile and a half north of Burkeville, a Department of Public Safety dispatcher said by telephone.
Clark, driving a 1992 Nissan pickup, was northbound on FM 1415 and disregarded a stop sign at Texas 87. She was struck by a southbound Ford F-150 driven by Christopher Garrett Thobodeaux of Duson, La. He was not injured.

Services for Velma G. Clark, 86, of Wiergate, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Starr Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Miller officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairmont Cemetery.
Mrs. Clark was born Jan. 31, 1918, in Mayflower to George Washington and Ima Phelps Clark. She died at the Jasper Memorial Hospital Saturday, May 22, 2004.
She is survived by her brother, Dalton Clark of Bridge City; two nieces and one nephew.
Starr Funeral Home Inc. of Hemphill, directors.
NOTE: Obit shows her father as George Washington Clark, however, his name was George Jefferson Clark and he went by Jeff as shown on his tombstone in Fairmount Cemetery in Sabine County, Texas.
Velma was my 3rd cousin once removed. Her parents were George Jefferson Clark (1895-1978) and Ima Phelps (1899-1983).
I'm looking for any information about the children of John CLARK, Jr. and
Susan BEACH, who were married 21 May 1819 in Essex Co. NJ and lived in Paterson.
John Jr's parents were John CLARK Sr. and Jane SLATER who immigrated from
Scotland in 1794. I have a John CLARK who was in WV in 1861. Trying to verify
that he is the son of John Jr. and Susan. If anyone is connected or has any
information about this CLARK family, would appreciate hearing from you.

I am still looking for information about a lady who was listed as Ruth
Mansfield Clark in the records of the Alexandria, Virginia hospital for 1933. The
record shows her age as 38 or 33 it's hard to read. She had seven or eight
children and gave her residents as Hoadly, Virginia. If anyone has information

one of these lists had sent me a request to photograph a gravesite in
Roswell some time ago and I said I would next time I was down that way. I

I am searching for the family of Jesse Jasper Clark, b. September 19,
1880, d. May 26, 1967, in Lineville (Clay County), Alabama. He married
(1) Delilah Jane Miller (b. December 28, 1877, d. March 27, 1908)
December 23, 1900; (2) Ella Mitchell (b. December 3, 1880, d. December
30, 1975). His father was William Jasper Clark, b. January 3, 1850, d.
January 7, 1932, in Clay County. He married Margaret Cockrell (b.
February 18, 1845, in Randolph County, AL, d. May 23, 1900) October 21,
1869.
I have run into problems finding the parents of William Jasper. I
believe his father was J (maybe John) T. Clark, who left Clay County for
Jefferson County (Birmingham, AL) sometime during the Civil War.
Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Elizabeth Hinesley

16. John C. (Christopher) Clark32, born July 18, 1665 in Kent, England;

and 33. Mary Bird. He married 17. Elizabeth Lumpkin 1680 in King and Queen

17. Elizabeth Lumpkin32, born 1667 in Middlesex County, VA; died 1734 in
King and Queen County, VA. She was the daughter of 34. Captain John Jacob
Lumpkin and 35. Martha Unknown.
Notes for John C. (Christopher) Clark:
Our Families by Larry Shuck - page 439
James Clarke of Augusta County, Va was previously listed as a son of John
Clarke of King and Queen County, VA and a great grandson of John Clarke
from England, who settled in Virginia. This is now thought to be
incorrect...the John Clark from ENGLAND and John Clarke from King and Queen
County are most likely the same person.
There are some indications that Jonathan Clarke of King and Queen County was
related to James Clarke of Augusta Co Va and to Christopher Clarke of
Albermarle Co Va. One source suggest that John Clark who transported Peter
Massie of New Kent 7 Nov 1670 may have been the ancestor of Christopher
Clarke of Albermarle Co Va. There was a Christopher and Rebecca Clark who
lived near Jamestown 1679 and some believe they were the parents of John and
Christopher Clark of Albermarle Co, but this is not proven. William Hancock
Clark, of the Gen. William Clark line, said that George Rogers Clark was a
cousin of Elizabeth Anthony of the Christopher Clark line
It is also suggested that Jonathan Clark of King and Queen County may have
been the son of John Clark and a brother to Christopher Clark. It is also
said in the History of Rockbridge County that Ann DUNLAP daughter of James
Clark of Augusta County was a cousin of General George Rogers Clark. ( I
agree with this theory. There is a letter, written to Ann Clark Dunlap by
George Rogers Clark in which he addresses her as my Dear Cousin) This
connecting link may be John Clarke of King and Queen County. The following
connection between these Clarks is speculative, but some records do exist to
support this speculation
John Clark immigrated from ENGLAND to King and Queen County before 1725.
Christopher Clark and wife, Rebecca, lived near Jamestown in1679, poss.
transported 7 Nov 1670 Peter Massie of New Kent
One source says John C (Christopher?) Clark after arriving married a
red-headed Scoth girl, located in King and Queen County aft 1700 and that he
was the father of Jonathan Clark born 1698

John Christopher Clark was born about 1662 died after 1735, married c 1695
Elizabeth Lumpkin, daughter of Capt John Lumpkin of the French and Indian
Wars. He was granted land in Drysdale Parish, King and Queen County 1691. He
was also granted land in Hanover and Caroline Counties. John and Elizabeth
(Lumpkin) Clark are thought to be the couple from whom Jonathan Clark
1698-1734, who married Elizabeth Wilson and received land grants in Caroline
and Albermarle Counties, descends. Jonathan Clark and Elizabeth Wilson Clark
were the grandparents of George Rogers Clark. They are also thought to be
the parents of James Clark 1704-1778, who married Elizabeth Summers and
settled in Augusta County, Va. They are the known pioneers of this book.
Begining with James Clark the line leaves family tradition and starts with
proven facts

Nathan Clark says in his book that Elizabeth Kincaid, daughter of Samuel and
Margaret, married Samuel Brown. The date listed for the marriage is the same
as the one I have and I checked my Greenbrier County marriages and it list
her husband as John M Brown. Nathan only list one daughter, Nancy Brown, for
Elizabeth. I have 3 other children, but no source for them.
