Hi everyone
Is anyone looking for Clarke/Clark in Ireland.
I am looking for information on JAMES CLARK(E) born about 1840-1841 in
Ireland, possibly in County Laois (previously called Queens County). He
married Jane Hogan in Ireland before 1862 agian possibly in County Laois
(Queens County). His first child was born at Bacca (Bockagh), in the Slieve
Bloom mountains, near Coolrain, Laois on 30 Aug 1862. He was a small time
farmer.
Any help would be gratefully received.

Hello Lister's.
I am looking for any relative of any of the following two children in 1957 and 1958. who were adopted in 1963.
Birth parents Leonard Glada(o)wski who mar to a Caroline __unk maiden name or( previous mar. name) abt Jul 1956 before or after???. had 2 boys who were as follows adopted.
. It was said that Caroline had been married prior to mar. to Leonard in Helena area (may have been another town close as Court house is in Helena). It also said she had 2 children by 1st mar to unk. spouce Sex may or may not have been boy and a girl.
The two children of Leonard Gladowski and Caroline were.
Lawrence b 31 Jul 1957 at St John's Hospital which is said to have been in Helena Mt. if the Hospital was there in 1957.
They left there after 1957 but before Oct 1958 as 2nd son , Jeffery Gladowski was born In Portland Or on 28 Oct 1958.
Sometime between Oct 1958 just before or after but before 5th Apr 1962 the Leonard and Caroline divorced and Caroline had married to a ______ Clarke. by the time boys placed in Oregon State Care. before Apr 1962.
On 2 Apr 1962 these two Gladowski ( Glodowski) boys were formaly and permanently committed to the Oregon State Public Welfare Commission by the assigned to the same by the Ciruit Court of Oregon State for the County of Multnomah, on 5th Apr. 1962. By virtue of same order the Oregon State Public Welfare Commission was on 5th Apr 1962 authorized to place the Lawrence and brother Jeffery Gladowski up for adoption.
They were later petitioned for adoption on 22 Jul 1963 by the same family who were granted the adoption on 12 Oct 1963 in LaGrand, Or by Honorable Judge C I Graham, Judge of Union Co Or.
By the time of 2 Apr 1962 ,of the commiting of these two boys it was said that their mother Caroline ______ Gladowski, Clarke had given birth to two more children. and was living somewhere near the Oregon/ Washington border on north side of Columbia River west of Portland and Vancouver Wa.
Unk abt truth of this statemnet.
I am trying to help these two adoptee's find one or both of their birth parents. and half siblings. They may be in the age bracket of the 60's to late 60's if living. Siblings in 40's.
Also would like look up's in the following newspapers for birth notices of Lawrence in Hellena Mt area b d 31 jul 1957, and for Jeffrey in Portland Or on b d 28 Oct 1958 given here.
Also Divorce notice for Leonard Gladowski and Caroline Gladowsi in or after 1958/9. in Portland Ore.
Also Marriage of Caroline Gladowski to a Clarke after divorce from Leonard Gladowski.
These two boys were in Foster homes in believe Portland Ore area between 1959 as the Jeffery abt 11 months, and Lawrence abt 2 yrs and 2/3 months old and remember's a chubby man of the last home they were in at Chritmas time in 1962. Since being adopted in Jul 1963 they would have been removed from the Foster home at abt that time.
If there is anyone out there who may have been foster parents to these ch as were in same homes together we believe please contact me.
Any other siblings out there who had a Caroline Clarke ,( abt 1960 + or - yr) name for mother please respond. I have access to pictures and they would like a reunion with their birth family if only even half siblings 4 known of., 2 with Clarke name and other 2 before surname's unkn. The adoptive mother is deceased and adoptive fa. is infirmed at this time. They would also like to be able to complete their Genealogy.

Hello Glen,
Thanks for that, I'll file it just in case. Never know what
will come up when I finally get some records about George CLARKE.
Many thanks and best wishes,
Jill, Brisbane
Hi Jill,
I have a George Clark born some where in that time frame in the USA
as far as I know. His father was supposed to be named Alfred George
Clark with a twin named Albert. It sounds as though they may have
been from the same family anyway. George's mother was Elizabeth Mathews,
born to a opera singer in London. Her father brought her and her brother
to the USA after their mother died . They later ,lived in
Philadelphia, Pa, where George went to college. His father went away to
war and never returned.
I also have a John Clark that married one of George's daughters and I
believe come over from England as he was said to have a strong British
accent.
Have a nice day

My brick wall is my Nova Scotian Clarks/Clarkes who migrated about 1820 to
what was known as the Talbot Settlement in Ontario above Lake Erie. It is
now known as Dunwich Township, Elgin County, Ontario. My belief is that
they came from the Manudie (Cumberland County) area, due to early records
and that they migrated with many families that came from that area. There
is a possibility that they were UELs.
Anyone have Clarks/Clarkes of English descent from that area around that
time?
Would love to hear from you!!!
Melinda (Clark) Brasier
My oldest CLARKE is Alfred born about 1835 in England and he married
Henrietta. They had a son named Alfred John CLARKE born 1863 in England
and died 1913 near Ontario, Canada. Alfred married Christie YEAGER in
1891 and they had a son Charles Ralph CLARKE born 1909 Ontario, Canada and
died 1997 in Loveland, CO. Charles married Martha Violet BURKE in 1934.
If you know anything about this CLARKE family, I would be delighted to
correspond with you. I will be happy to send you any of the information
that is in my genealogical database.
Joe in Idaho, the Gem State, USA
Hi Bill,
We have a family roumour that some of my Clark ancestors emigrated to Canada/US, and also to South Africa.
The names I have are as follows:-
Abraham Clark, born about 1831 in Blaby, Worcestershire.
His wife Sarah Ann (Nee Widger) 1836 Plymouth, Devon
their children
Emily Ann 28.6.1857 Woolwich
Kate 1860 Shorecliffe, Kent
Lucy 1862 Portsmouth
Harry 1865 New Zealand
Arthur 1867 New Zealand
Charles Thomas 1868 Lowestoft
Sidney 1869 Fort Treganth, Cornwall
Samuel 1870 Plymouth
George Thomas 1871 Scarborough
William Jno 1875 Scarborough
Maud Isabel 1877 Scarborough
Whether it was one or more of the above, or one of their children that emigrated I do not know. It is a long shot, I know, but do any of these names ring a bell with you, or any other listers?
Regards

Hello,
This morning I have become curious about the ratio of CLARK or CLARKE
families living in MA or CT or RI as of the 1790 census .. compared to the
families living in the same states in the 1820 census.
What I mean is .. How many of the CLARK or CLARKE men and/or families living
in southern New England between 1800 and 1830 came from families which had
arrived in MA, RI, or CT in the 1600's or 1700's?
And, how many were just arriving .. post-1800?
The reason I am asking is that one of two "major brick walls" on the same
family tree is a James CLARKE or CLARK who was living in RI in about 1825,
possibly as a young man. We know absolutely ..nothing.. about him.
And, I wondered what the chances were that he had just arrived in the USA
from another country (Canada or England).
In 1829, in nearby Westport, MA, he married a widow. Mrs. Rhoda
(MANCHESTER) LAVARE had been born there in 1800. So, we "assume" James
CLARK/E had been born in the same timeframe.
In 1836, James and Rhoda had a daughter, Mary Anna CLARK, in Westport, MA.
Probably during the 1840's, James either died, or disappeared. He is not
shown in the "household" in 1850.
(One possibility is that he left on a Whaler in 1844, and did not return.)
After having been married for 30+ years, John and Mary (CLARK) DEXTER from
Killingly, CT, (strangely) moved to Boston, MA, around the same time that a
baby was born (1889). In 1892, they adopted that baby girl, and re-named
her to Mary Anna Clark DEXTER. That girl grew up to become my
grandmother.
Her situation is the second "brick wall" on that family tree. There is
some indication that she was somehow blood-related to her Adoptive mother,
and thus to either James CLARK or to his wife, the former Mrs. Rhoda LAVARE
(nee' Rhoda MANCHESTER). And, yet, there are no likely candidates for a
relative of the Adoptive mother to have been the birth-mother. (One
"distant cousin" believes that Mrs. DEXTER, herself, (Age 52 in 1888) was
the birth-mother - for whatever reason.)
(John and Mary DEXTER had only one child live to adulthood, and she was
married and had a 7-year-old son in Killingly, CT, when that baby was born)
Thank you for your time.
Betty (near Lowell, MA, USA)
P.S. No ..New England CLARK/E families are laying claim to this
James CLARK/E, probably born in 1790 to 1805 (where??).
FYI: Don't forget to check the Archives of the Mailing Lists and Message
Boards for your surnames and place-names. I found the above "distant
cousin" by responding to an old posting.
