First, I'm new to this list so hi there all you Clarke people. (I'm researching the family of my English maternal grandfather, Charles Sidney Clarke, born February 8, 1896, at 126, Queens Road, Aston, Birmingham, Warwickshire; died in Birkenhead, Cheshire on July 20, 1962.) Anyone else researching British Clarkes who may find this of interest please get it touch.
Second, I have a photocopy of the marriage certificate of another Birmingham-based Clarke who is not, I think, connected to "my" Clarkes. If anyone has an interest in this, please contact me. It is the 1898 certificate for Robert Hewlett Edwin Clarke, 28, bachelor and iron dresser, son of William Clarke, clerk, and Charlotte Ann Partridge, 23, spinster and tire worker, daughter of George Partridge, glass-blower in St.Mark's parish Birmingham.
Michael Gray
also researching British RUDDs, ROWEs and GRAYs.
Hello All,
Effective 16 April, 2003, I shall be en route to Nova Scotia, ETA 25 April.
For the summer I have a new EMAIL Address: bernied(a)ns.sympatico.ca
Within the next 10 days or so, I shall be "unsubscribing" from all lists
temporarily and thus, I am making one more inquiry now.
Does anyone have any information on Mary BOYD, b:Oct 1850, Paisley,
Renfrew, Scotland, daughter of: John BOYD, b:ca: 1815, ?Paisley and Mary
GUTHRIE, b:Oct 1829, Paisley. They emigrated from Scotland between 1868 and
1870, and appeared on the 1871 Census in Grantham, Lincoln County, Ontario,
Canada. They immigrated to Providence, Lincoln County, Rhode Island, (RI)
USA and appeared on the RI Census in 1880 with four children. Mary was NOT
one of them.
Mary Boyd, apparently married: "Alexander Clark",b:ca 1844, NO MARRIAGE
Record found in Ontario, Can. Archives. They had a daughter: "Little Mary
Clark", b: 10 Oct 1872, in Grantham, Lincoln County, Ontario, Canada. They
also reportedly had a son: My Grandfather: William Alexander Clark b:17 Feb
1877, Merritton, Lincoln County, Ontario, Canada. NO BIRTH Record found in
the Ontario, Can. Archives. Mary (?)Boyd(e)? and Alexander Clark(e) are
believed to have been found on the Massachusetts (MA), USA 1880 Census,
with three children in house hold and residing in Attleboro, Bristol
County, MA. 1: dau: Mary, age 7.; 2: son: William, age 4, (believed to be
my Grandfather); and 3: "Other": male..John, age 1 year. (Born in Canada of
Scottish Parentage.)..Exact relationship NOT Known.
Questions are: 1: Who are the Parents of "Alexander Clark?"
2: Was "little" Mary Clark's given name: Mary Elizabeth?, and was she
called: "LIZZIE.?" I found a "Lizzie" married to Everett LaBonte on the
1920 MA Census in Boston, Suffolk County, MA., who had a Father, "Alexander
Clark", living with them. He then was age 76 years, widower, "alien".
"Lizzie" and "Everett" were both born in Canada; Everett naturalized in
1882; and Lizzie in 1915..assume MA or RI.
3: Did "Lizzie" and "Everett LaBonte have children?
4: What happened to these people after the 1880 Census in MA. and RI??
5: What was the relationship between "John BOYD & Mary GUTHRIE and
"Archibald BOYD and wife: Margaret who were also on the 1880 RI Census in
the same area: Providence,Lincoln County, RI. Archibald Boyd & Margaret had
6 children on this Census. I have the names of all these children if
anyone is interested or think they may be connected.
Thank you for any replies.

Hello! I was wondering if anyone knows where I might fine information
regarding the colors of the Clark clan kilt. Also are there different
colors or patterns of the Clark plaid for different areas in Scotland? I am
also searching for information or relatives of my Great-great grandfather
John Clark born in Edinburgh , Scotland in 1830. He traveled to the U.S.
several times, but returned and died in Scotland in Jan. 1924. he also had a
son who remained in Scotland named Andrew. Two other sons; William Smith
Clark lived in Washington ,D.C. and James lived in Riverton N.J.. I know that
John , william and Andrew were Florists. Where might I start to find
information regarding John ? I have found both William and James in the
Census. Please any information would be greatly appreciated. Donna
Hi Friends,
I'm pleased to announce a new list called First Ships.
http://www.mdwsweb.com/genealogy-lists/firstshipslist.html
From the description at the list home page:
---
This list is for research and sharing of information on those
people who came to New England on the first ships, their lives, why
they came here, their ancestors and descendants wherever they may
be, as well as those who married into these families. The ships
include the Mayflower, the Fortune, the Anne and the Little James.
There are many mailing lists focusing on the individual surnames of
many of these people but this list brings them together so we can
study them as a group, as family units, and as individuals.
Feel free to create a database to share your information; use the
files area to upload your gedcom or other genealogical or
historical document; the photos area to display your ancestors
connected with these lines or artwork relating to early colonial
New England; and the links area to promote your favorite websites.
And of course I encourage all to participate in the daily discussions.
---
I'm very excited about the future of the FirstShips list and I
expect it will be a great success.
There are many discussion areas for Mayflower descendants and I
felt there was a need for a list to discuss all the people of that
group who first came to New England including those who came on The
Fortune, The Anne and The Little James. Thus this list was created.
Go to
http://www.mdwsweb.com/genealogy-lists/firstshipslist.html
