I have a John Clark, reportedly born in Virginia, who moved to Indiana
and
had among his children Jacob, Abraham, John, Isaac, and a daughter, but I
can't quite make out her name on the census. All those children were
born in Indiana. The family moved to Guthrie County, Iowa around the mid
1800s. John's wife was Susannah, born in Pennsylvania.
Abraham, my husband's direct ancestor, was one at least, who stayed in
Iowa.
Debby J.
*I do have 4 William Perry Clark's in my line. Also have several Joseph
Marion Clarks.
John Clark b VA, married Rebecca Nave b TN
The only child I know about is:
Benjamin Clark b 1777 VA or KY
" sons were:
Samuel b 1810 TN
William b 1811 TN
Joseph b 1813 TB
Walter
John
------------
Samuel b 1810- don't have his children listed so this is possible
William b 1811 had a son named William b 1846
Joseph b 1813 had a son named William b 1838
Walter- don't have his children listed
John- don't have his children listed
Check out Samuel, Walter and John Clark- maybe they had son named William
the right age.
Happy New Year!

No, I haven't checked those counties - one of my relatives mentionned that
Wm Clark had a farm in Greene co. so I assumed he was born in the area. He
did seem to move around alot so he could have been from another county.
Please check if you have a Wm in your family born in 1835. His middle
initial might have been H for Harvey or Henry.
Thanks

Nancy,
Are talking Knox Co., IN?
A cousin and I are looking for more relatives in that area? We are looking
for people who may have been
related to a Miles Clark, mutual grandparent.
Then my husband is also related to Clark's from Jackson Co, IN area. David
Clark was his grandfather.

We are from a line of Clarks from Erie County and were wondering if the book you speak of mentions any from Erie Co. Is it possible to obtain a copy of this book? Thank you,Barb
The "Seymour" post of pages 811-813 of this History relates the family history of Carey Clark from RI. One listed grandson of Carey Clark was an Orlando B. Clark. I am a grand daughter of an Orlando J. Clark, 1843 - 1926, son of John Thompson Clark, 1811 - 1885, of Madison CO, NY. J.T. Clark was born in 1811 and m. Elizabeth Blakeslee in Paris , Oneida CO, NY in 1835.
Anyone know of any connection between these two Orlandos? We do not have a father for John T. Clark although his mothers name is believed to be Sarah. My Clarks came from RI to Brookfield TWP, Madison, NY about 1810. Thanks for any ideas.

Dear Clarke listers,
The unfortunate happening of earlier today happened to many lists, not just
the CLARKE-L.
I ask your patience as RootsWeb figures this one out, as several list managers
are reporting the same incidence. The address was a phony and several of the
posts did not get through! I have forwarded full headers on to the folks at
RW so maybe they will be able to ban future posts.
I am truely sorry and in the three years I've been here as list manager nothing
like this has ever happened.
Yes, the person has be unsubbed and tyrell.net put on the reject list.
Please, stay with us,

'History of the Clark Family in Chautauqua County, New York and Warren County, Pennsylvania.'
By A. A. Clark
Rev. John Clark, of Rhode Island, was born in England October 8, 1609, and died in April 1676. He was well educated. He was a physician and a Baptist Minister, and had knowledge of Greek and Latin and Hebrew. With his first wife, he arrived in Boston, Mass., November 1637. His first winter was spent in New Hampshire. In the spring, he returned to Boston and associated himself with a colony which settled on Conanicut Island, in what is now Portsmouth, Rhode Island. He removed to Newport and in 1644, became pastor of the First Baptist Church in that place. In 1651, he went with Roger Williams to England on matters concerning the welfare of the Colony, and remained 12 years. They obtained from King Charles a Charter that was very liberal and which was the basis of the government of Rhode Island, giving them a Constitution which secured to every one his or her freedom of conscience in matters of religious concernment, and persecution for opinions sake was forbidden. In !
June, 1664 he returned to Rhode Island. He held many offices of trust in the Colony. He was married three times. His first wife was Elizabeth Harges, second, Jane Fletcher, third, Sarah Davis, no issue survived him.

Please. My comment is"far-fetched." My great-grandfather, cir.1840-1873, Thomas Clarke's sister, Elizabeth Clarke
It's a brick wall. married a James Farmer, Orange Irishman. James owned a livery stbale in New York City in the late 1900's. She brought up her niece, Catherine/Lillian Clarke after Thomas' death.
I think this Clarke family was in the United States by 1825.
It may be that some members of that family settled in Maryland.

My husband's birth mother (he was adopted at birth), was Annette Parker who married John Harrison Clarke. She gave birth to Judith in 1944 in New Jersey, I believe. She would be my deceased husband's half sister. My husband was born in Boston on Jan. 19, 1938 - parents (not married) were listed as Annette Parker and Ralph H. Myer. Annette later married John Clarke. Any info would be appreciated.
