My gr-gr-grandfather, Jacob Charles Clark, was born ca 1802/1806 (depending on
what record you're reading) in NC according to the 1850 Hamilton Co,IL census.
From there he and wife Kassey(probably Katharine) (unknown) were in TN
ca1828/1829 and then in Hamilton Co,IL 1836-fwd. Since the census doesn't
indicate which county in NC, I don't know where to start looking. Do these
names sound familiar. I would so like to find their ancestors. I have Jacob
and Kassey's children and right many of their descendants which I will be glad
to provide, if desired. Charlyne Hampton, nee Clark, Champ2to1(a)aol.com or

George W. Clark was born 2 Feb. 1806 in Virginia. He married "P.D." (name otherwise unknown), born 1810 in North Carolina. Based on an obituary of his daughter, Mary "Molly" L. Clark, George W. Clark moved with his family to Mississippi about 1844. He died 7 Dec. 1889 in Hinds Co., MS. In addition to Molly Clark, other known children are R.C. Clark, William Henry Clark, and "Mrs. R.A. Drummond." Any information on this family would be very much appreciated.

CHILDREN LISTED ON REAVES FAMILY TREE
The Percy my husbands mentions seems to be in his 60's if still alive. He seems to only know of those who lived in Detroit where he grew up and California. It seems that Dwelle somehow thru marriage is a big part of his family. Only other thing I know is that the family is of bi racial heritage. I'll ask him about the Percy you mentioned. And will get back withyou.
I thought to try posting my information again.
James Clarke b. 7 May 1798 d. 19 Oct 1868 Chillicothe, Ross Co, Ohio m. 4 Feb 1823 Ross Co, Oh to Sarah Quinn b. 25 Dec 1804 Fairfield Co, Oh d. 14 Dec 1873 Ross Co, Oh (daughter of Rev. James Quinn and Patience Teel/Teal). They had 9 children:
1- Mary Ellen
2- James m. Elizabeth
3- John G.
4- William m. Nannie M.
5- Patience T.
6- Susan R.
7- J. Greenwood
8- Adam H.
9- Matthew Hamilton b. 9 Dec 1840 Ross Co, Oh d. 10 April 1915 Chattanooga, Tenn m. 27 Feb 1862 Ross Co, Ohio to Clara Core (daughter of Daid Core and Mary Teeter McDonald).
I am not sure where James was born as his obituary (Scioto Gazette) states he was born on the Eastern shore of Maryland in 1798 and the 1850 census for Ross Co, Oh says he was born in Delaware. The obituary also says "When 18 months old he came with his parents to this county, his father dying a few months after his arrival here." James Clarke was bound as an apprentice to the business of a carpenter. Later in life, he was one of the first wholesale grocery merchants in Chillicothe, Oh.
Matthew Hamilton Clarke served in the Civil War. His wife, Clara Core, was the granddaughter of Col John McDonald noted author, pioneer, statesman, and soldier. Matthew and Clara had 5 children:
1-Theodore Russell m. Emma Allemang
2-David Elsworth
3-Lewis Greenwood
4-Allison (male)
5-Sarah Ella
Oral family history says one of the children moved to California but I do not know if they meant one of James's children or one of Matthew's. I have been searching for information on all of these people. Pam Dawson

Subject: George Lafayette Clark, born 1843, Winston Co. MS, Confederate Soldier, d. Fort Worth TX
From_: jeanrice(a)cet.com Mon Jul 30 01:27:56 2001
SERENDIPITY: There is a photo of Tracy and George Lafayette Clark, father and son, taken circa 1917-18, during WWI, on pg. 198 of the Jan-Feb 1990 issue of "The Genealogical Helper" magazine. The son is in a WWI uniform of a Major and the father is wearing his Confederate uniform. The father has a long white beard. Both men are "standing at attention."
George Lafayette Clark was born 09 June 1843, Winston Co. MS and died 1919 in Fort Worth, Texas. He was the son of James Green Clark and Frances Webb. No details on George's first wife, but his second wife was Mary L (Molly) Jenkins whom he married on 21 Aug 1883, Erath Co. TX. She was born 25 April 1857, died in childbirth 21 Nov 1889.
Their son, Tracy Macune Clark was born 25 Jan 1888. He married Nina Bartlett, 24 June 1919. He died 09 Oct 1959 and is buried in Waco, TX. He and his wife had no children.
The Fort Worth, TX submitter's connection (N. Dingmore) is that Tracy Clark's mother, Molly Jenkins Clark, was his grandmother's sister. His grandmother, Lavina Elizabeth Jenkins Lindsey, raised the infant daughter born in 1889, named Lillian.
Hopefully, this "snippet" will provide just the right clue to a researcher. Please reference that issue for more details.

My Clark family originated in Jura, the Hebrides Islands, Scotland.
John Clark came to the Cape Fear Region of N.C. His children were named Benjamin, William, Archibald, John, Jr., Lewis, Elizabeth, Daniel, Nathan, David, Penelope, and James Clark.
William Clark is said to have gone south and d. in Georgia.
David Clark m. Hannah Pollock and moved on to Kentucky.
Benjamin Clark m. Mary Ann McClendon. After serving in the Revolutionary War, he moved from N.C. to S.C. to Ky. to Tn. and then into Arkansas Territory. They ended up in Hempstead Co., Ar. near Old Washington. He was the first coroner there. Benjamin was a Methodist Preacher. After the death of Mary, he moved on with his sons James and Gilbert into Sevier Co., Ar. and finally to Tx. where James, along with the aide of his brother Gilbert, is given credit for settling Clarksville, Red River Co., Tx. Benjamin d. in Feb. 1838 while living with James and his wife in Clarksville, Tx. He is buried there with a Revolutionary War marker.
I do not have info on the other children.
Any info on this family would be greatly appreciated.

Is anyone out there looking for the Clark family who settled in Weymouth, Hingham, Scituate or Cohasset,MA.? I know I've asked before but I am so desperate! I am stuck on Robert W. Clark b.12/1811, m.Fannie T. Brown in Hingham, MA. They lived in Weymouth, had kids there. I know his mothers name was
Elizabeth Clark but don't know if that was her maiden name. It was on his d.cert. dated 12/1892.
Other names in the Clark line are Beal, Bates, Bartlett, Brown,Cushing, possibly
Palmers,Parkers & West. Please, if anyone can help me, I will be so grateful. Thanks !

Subject: Truman CLARK 1782 MA
From_: darlingfamilytree(a)yahoo.com Mon Jul 30 08:09:46 2001
Truman a/k/a Thomas CLARK was b. 1782 Grafton, MA d. 1844 Grafton, MA. Married Patty Willard WOOD 1804 Grafton, MA. His parents are listed as Truman CLARK and Anna BRAMAN in the Grafton VRs but there is no further information for them.
Does anyone know who Truman CLARK1 or his wife Anna BRAMAN are? Or where they may have come from? I was hoping the line was going to connect to;
Martha CLARKE b. 1694 Framingham, MA d. 1764 Grafton, MA. She's descended from Thaddeus CLARKE of Ireland and Portland, ME. Martha CLARKE is the Great-Grandmother of Martha Willard WOOD, the wife of Truman CLARK b. 1782 Grafton, MA.
I have information on the children of Truman2 and his wife Patty along with the CLARK/E VRs from Grafton if anyone's interested. Any help is very much appreciated!

From_: okiamo(a)worldnet.att.net Sun Jul 29 18:26:42 2001
There is a tombstone in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Harrison, Boone
County, Arkansas that shows 'Vinet A. Ruble 1889 - 1929'. I can't place him
in any family. Can someone help. Someone suggested that I try the Clark list.
Thanks,

One of my paternal great grandmother's was Harriet Clarke Greenhalgh. They lived in the Halifax area of Yorkshire in the 1881 census. Harriet is shown as 30 yrs of age and Sheffield as her place of birth. I would appreciate any help or information. Richard Greenhalgh was her husband and he was a stone mason.
Hi All,
It would really help if the subject line included more information, such as
state and approximate years. So many come to us labeled very cryptically,
such as "Clark Family" or "My Clarks" or "James Clark." I'm afraid to say
that I haven't got time to open that type, as I'm on three lists and receive
over 100 e-mails per day. On the other hand, if I see a subject line which is
very specific, I'll know right away whether or not it may pertain to the
family I'm researching.
I'm sure that I'm failing to read postings which may pertain to me, but see
no other option than to be selective in what I open and read.
I think we'd have a much greater response if we tried to include date and
location in the subject line, such as "Alexander Clark d 1777 in Monmouth
County, NJ." In this fashion, people who have no connection to that name,
location or time period can just delete the posting unread, thereby saving
time.

Seeking info on my gggg-grandmother: Granny Clark(e) ,possibly nee Mary Stewart/Steward, b ca 1779 Chesterfield Co., SC. d ca 1854 AL?. Possibly three marriages and a son (all Jrs) from each of these unions: Hiram Stewart (my gggg-grandfather), William Griffin, Samuel?? Clark(e). Mary Griffin was taken to trial, charges unknown, in 1807 and 1809 AL?, but was found "not guilty". Heresay is that Mr. Clark(e) was a jurist during these trials, and that is how they met and married??? Thusly she became known as Granny Clark(e). So just wondering if anyone has info on this lady. My CLARK line were supposed to come from VA, through the Carolinas and
finally settled in GA. One family story is that they were cattle herders
along the NC/SC border in the late 1700s. The first thing we know for sure
was that my ggg Grandfather John Clark was in Burke Co. GA in 1805 when he
qualified for the GA land lottery. We feel sure his brother Eli and probably
a brother Henry were with him there. John married Amelia (Emelia) Sikes
(Sykes) probably in Burke Co. Let me add they had sisters named Hester and
Mary. We have these lines on down pretty well documented. The exception to
that is Mary. John settled in Laurens County GA. His brother Eli settled in
Thomas/Colquitt area. John's sister Hester m. Thomas Lindsey and they were
among the first settlers of Montgomery Co. There is a Henry Clark in the
Montgomery/Laurens Co area that we feel sure was a sibling. Here are the
children for John. I have details if you think you might connect.

i am looking for alexander clark. it is said that he sent his son, alexander clark
jr, to pennsylvania, to escape slavery.. mid 1850's. afterwords, alexander clark jr
went to browns illinois, in edwards county, where he met up w/gusty burrass. he had
thomas clark, william r clark, and other children that i'll have to put in other
