Walter S CLARK (b. 1893) married Evelyn BUTLER (b.1902)

Does any body have an info on the following Moses Clarks? Or any other

Carla, I have a a John Burton Clarke born in June 1883 in Quinton, Old
Tavern Farm, New Kent County, Virginia. He had an earlier brother named
John B. Clarke, who was born in November 1878 and died in August 1880 at
the same location. Both were children of my grandfather, Robert
Dandridge Clarke and his first wife Laura Morgan. The surviving John
Burton Clarke married Mary Edna Keating, and I actually met "Uncle John"
once in the 1950s or 60s before he died. Now I realize the years are off
for "your" John B. Clarke, but their might be some connection that we
don't quite see due to the "Burton" element of the name. My grandfather,
Robert Dandridge Clarke was born Abt 1833-35, and actually fought in the
Civil War at least twice as recorded in Hardesty's Encyclopedia, Special
Virginia Edition for 1892. I don't know if this might be a clue for you
to go on, but figured it was worth responding just in case.

Hi Carol...
I do have this line in my data base with some slightly different dates &
places, but I don't have #1 (your message below) as the father of #2. I
don't have any father listed for #2 (Samuel, my #5068).
The Richard Clark & Elizabeth (my #733) appear to be the very large Clark
line who founded Elizabeth NJ and did have a son Samuel, however I have
Samuel's wife as Susanna and his death as cir 1715 in Elizabethtown, NJ.
And, I do not have a son William, listed for Samuel...
I'm reluctant to add any of the info to my data base because of the
uncertainty and no sources... Let me know if you find out any more or if
you would like to have the info I have on this line...

Dear listers,
I do hope no-one will be offended by this plea, as I am having trouble sometimes distinguishing whether some people are investigating English or American or elsewhere, as many of the towns/cities have the same name. Is there a way of either abbreviating or making it obvious which country you are investigating. Why not put ENGLAND or whatever country in capital letters in the subject line?
Thank you
Sarah
Recently I have been doing some research in Madison County, NC on CLARKs and
thought what I found might help someone else. First, for those of you who
may not know the early settlers (in fact the current settlers) of the Western
NC and Eastern TN areas moved back and forth a good bit. If you are
investigating a family in Buncombe, Haywood or Madison Counties in NC keep
that in mind.
CLARKS on the 1860 census Madison County, NC
AVERY CLARK 29 yo. In his home there are: Adaline 28 yo, Aaron 5 yo, Cassey
E. 3 yo, John A. 1 yo, Sentha 52 yo, and Cassey 81 yo. There is also a 12 yo
boy named Arthur.
WM. CLARK 30 yo with wife Margaret 36yo, Wm. N. either 1904 14 yo, Jesse 8
yo, Jane 11yo, Harriett 9yo, John 6yo, Clingham 5yo, and Jaems C. 1 yo.
ALLEN CLARK 28 yo born in TN with wife Marency(?) 28 yo and John W. 8 yo.
W. C. CLARK 38 yo b. TN with wife Caroline 35 yo, David 12 yo, Robbert 10 yo,
Caroline A. 7 yo, Jane A. 4yo, Wesley C. 5 yo, and Mary E. 5 months
old.Everyone born in TN except Wesley and Mary.
B. W. CLARK 27 yo with wife Delita 26yo, Martha J. 8 yo, Ora 6 yo, Thoms L. 4
yo, and Loretta 2 yo.
JACOB CLARK 21 yo b. GA and wife Nancy J. 16 yo married with in the year.
For the 1870 census I only have a list of those head of household who
appeared in the index: Avery CLARK is 41 yo, Benjamin W. is 37 yo, Catherine
is 45 yo., Jesse is 22 yo, John W. is 37 yo, Jonas is 25 yo, and Wm. N. is 25
yo. I did make a note of George Clarks and there was a 6yo George Clark
living with Benjamin W. CLARk and a 5 year old George Clark living with John
W. Clark.
I'll list 1880 etc. in the next posting. Sandy
Hi Listers,
I don't have access to the 1850 Cocke Co., TN Census but I would be most
interested in the George Clarks that Sandy listed.
George Clark of Haywood Co., NC, had a daughter Nancy M. Clark who m. Joseph
D. Justice; this is my family. George is listed on the 1820 Haywood Census
but I thought he may have gone to Buncombe Co., NC,since there are two deeds
registered there for him.
I believe he had a son George and a son Moses Clark (he went to Cocke Co.,
TN).
Please help us if you can.

If someone out there has access to TN census data, could you tell me who is
listed as family for the two George CLARKs listed on the 1850 census for
Cocke County, TN? Same applies to the 1891 Voter List for TN and COCKE
County. It would be most appreciated. Sandy slsamz(a)aol.com
I am looking for information on "Venie" (?spelling) Clark born abt 1898 in
Holmes Co., FL to John Anderson Clark and Catherine Sanders Newton Clark. He
is believed to have died within the past 5-10 years in or around Arcadia,
Desoto Co., FL.
Venie was a preacher and was well known for his Piano Playing. He preached in
Graceville, Jackson Co., FL around 1950-1960.
He had 2 children, a son (unknown name)but is believed to also be a preacher
and a daughter, Catherine Virginia Clark. She married Judge Willis Carl
Trawick 13 Nov 1954 in Graceville, FL.
According to what census records I can find and read John Anderson also had
Pearl Clark born Jul 1886 and Zenn L Clark born March 1896.

I am looking for information on Sarah Catherine Victoria (Vic) Clark born 20

Lennie.

It is believed that she died around 1940 in or around Tallasee, Elmore Co.,

Any and all information will be greatly appreciated.

+WARNER, Ann b: 12 April 1716
CLARK, John Jr. b: 14 June 1679
+ GOODWIN, Sarah b: 1 April 1683
CLARK, John, Sergeant B: 17 November 1651
+ WHITE, Elizabeth b: 7 March 1655
---------snip
I do have William & Katherine Bunce as the parents of : CLARK, John,
Sergeant B: 17 November 1651...

Regarding: CLARK, Ebenezer b: 12 July 1711

I have as his wife Abigail WHITMORE rather than: "WARNER, Ann b: 12 April

that lists "WARNER, Ann b: 12 April 1716" as his wife? That should be a
good starting point to verify the connection...
Thanks

I take it this is Ebenezer Clark's wives and families - Do you know what
gender Jerusha and Jerushe were?

is a great list and so very well documented.
