I'm trying to determine if this family fits in with mine. Does anyone
know them?
1860 Blue Pond (Third District) Cherokee Co., AL, 1860 Federal Census,
p. 116
Wm. Clark, 63, m, "Indian", no occupation, real estate 900, personal
estate, 3000 (wow!), b. SC
Nancy Clark, 33, F, Domestic, GA
Hester A. Clark, 18, F, Domestic, TN
George W. Clark, 11, M, TN
Sarah A. Clark, 5?, F, TN
John W. Clark, 1, M, GA
My ancestors are John D. Lawson b SC abt 1821 m. Harriet Ann Poole b.
1823 SC. They settled in Collinsville, Dekalb Co., AL, but also appear
in Cherokee Co. However, one of their children lists Harriet's maiden
name as CLARK, not Poole, and other findings pointed me to this William
Clark family.
Thanks for any help.

Do you have a George Washington Clark, born September 5, 1835 or George
Washington Clark, born February 2, 1888? They were both born in Perry County,
Illinois.

Hi
Can you give me any leads on how you researched the Clark name. My dead end was James A Clark, b around 1805 married Catherine Gaver in Perry County Ohio. He was supposed to come from North Carolina or Virginia (possibly the part that became W VA). There the trail ends. Any suggestions. I found that his mother lived with him and her name was Permelia A (don't know her maiden name).
I appreciate any ideas you have

I know these aren't the same people and the wrong dates, but I have looked for the father of my ggg grandfather James A Clark who moved to Ohio from either Virginia or North Carolina, and whose mother's name was Permelia A ______
for soooooo long. Clark is such a hard name to research, it is so common. James A's wife was Catherine Gaver. He was born about 1805. No reply is necessary unless you have info or just want to commiserate on trying to research the Clark line(s) of our families.

Audrey,
I am a CLARK/BOWNE connection. I descend from John Bowne + Hannah Feake down to Milton Lee Clark + Anna Catherine Birdsall, my great grandparents whom I never knew in Pine Village, Tippecanoe/Warren Co, IN. Do not know if this is the connection for which you are looking.

Hi Renee,
I have BRUESKE and REINKE surnames in my family tree. My MERTES AND SCHNEIDER in my family tree come to Fond du lac, WI in 1848. One of their desendants moved on to MN then to ND. This is where in the early 1900's their desendants married BRUESKE and REINKE.
Could this be part of you family tree?

I believe one of my ancestors in James Clark who was living in Westport, MA, in the 1830's. He and his (?) wife had a daughter born there in 1837.
I was wondering if anyone had a James Clark in their records from any of the New England states ... who would have lived from about 1800 to about 1850.
(Westport, MA, is near both Fall River and New Bedford, MA, and is not far from either the RI or CT border.)
(Their daughter, Mary Anna Clark, married John Dexter, who was born in Killingly, CT, in 1837.)

I am searching for any information at all about a CLARK family which was living in Westport, MA, in the 1830's. The husband's name was James Clark. The only child I know about is Mary Anna Clark, born there in 1837.
As Mrs. John Dexter, she passed away in the spring of 1899 in Melrose, MA. On the Death Certificate, her parents were listed as: "James Clark" and "Lavair." ... I had made the assumption that Lavair was the given name, and thus the wife's name was Mrs. Lavair Clark. ... But, I've never seen this given name before. .... This morning I did a search at www.google.com and discovered that LAVAIR is a surname. So, now I am wondering if I should be looking for a CLARK / LAVAIR marriage around 1800 to 1810 in New England.
In the 1850 Census, the only Clark's mentioned were: Mary Anna Clark and Rhoda Clark ... so a guess is that Mr. & Mrs. James Clark ... died during the 1840's.
