Greetings from a new 'lister'. I wonder if anyone has any info. on my
gt. gt. grandparents, Samuel (born abt. 1762) and Anne Clarke (born
abt. 1772). Their children, William 1794, Anne 1796, Matilda abt.
1798 and Samuel 1802 were all baptised at Epping, Essex, England.
However, I have not been able to find a marriage or Samuel's baptism
at Epping, and I don't know where else to start looking. As I don't
know Anne's maiden surname, I don't know where to look for her baptism
either.
I have a similar problem with their son. Samuel, my gt. grandfather,
as I haven't been able to find his marriage to Mary Ann Gould, who
was, according to the census, born in Fransham, Norfolk. Some of
their children were born post-1837 registration, hence I was able to
find out her maiden name.
Information on my family or any links with it would be much
appreciated.

HAPPY EASTER!
From: Paul & Nancy
Subject: Easter Greetings
>This weekend commemorates the most astonishing three days in the long saga
of
>humanity. "Good Friday" ironically memorializes the blackest day of the
>human race. It marks the incredibly cruel execution of a traveling rabbi
>from the mountain village of Nazareth. In the worst of all miscarriages of
>justice he was viewed by the authorities as a threat to the social and
civic
>order. So they destroyed him. Or so they thought!
>
>Easter Sunday, however, recalls an astounding reversal of affairs, the most
>important event in human history. At dawn the crucified one broke the
bonds
>of death and walked triumphant from his tomb. Women were the first to
>realize what was happening. They alerted his confused, dispirited
disciples.
> Things began to happen fast! The long-awaited Messiah, the Christos, had
>finally arrived and was in their midst. The possibilities for the abundant
>life, the good and noble life, were forever changed.
>
>Now in the early days of the 21st Christian century, faith continues to
link
>us to the power of his resurrection, the power that spins the universe. In
>the long sweep of salvation history the living Christ offers hope for all
or
>our tomorrows. We live in the knowledge that an Easter lily blooms beside
>every believer's grave. Beside ever disciple's tomb there sits an angel.
>The hope which died on Calvary's hill and was buried with Jesus in the
garden
>tomb sprang to new imperishable life on the morning of his resurrection.
>That is the hope which points the way ahead for each of us on this
>magnificent occasion, Easter weekend, in this year of our Lord, 2000 AD.
>
>Grace, love, peace and joy be with you and yours!

Hi Clark Cousins...
Looking for anybody who has an Andrew Clark(e), b 1775-1785, of
Providence Twp, Bedford Co., PA. in their lineage.
Since Andrew is not too common a name, perhaps you have one in that time
frame but not sure of the birth location that might fit....
Andrew's father's name was also Andrew.... Maybe you have him?

Hello:
Does anyone on here have any information on Mettie L. Rogers. She was
married to Augustus Jenson Clark on January 09,1876 in Laurens, Ga. She was
born in Laurens, Ga. about 1855 and is buried in Clark Cemetery Laurens, Ga.
This is my gggrandmother and I'm trying to find information on her parents
and siblings. I know that she is part Cherokee.

I have a book on Jonathon Clark's line [SNIP] "John Clark, son of
Jonathan and Elizabeth (Wilson) Clark was born 9 OCT. 1725 in King and

his brother Benjamin in Albemarle Co.VA. [SNIP]
Hope it helps someone.

Marilyn and list,
Thanks for your post. The more I think about it, the more I think that
my CLARKS were contemporaries of George R. CLARK and his siblings. I
estimate the birth year of my Hannah CLARK ELLIOTT to be between
1760-1765, putting her right in the same era as the children of John and
Ann ROGERS CLARK.
Your note mentions that John had a brother named Benjamin. I'm thinking
it might be well to check into HIS family and see what I come up with.
Anybody out there related to good ol' Benjamin? What about the other
children of Jonathan and Elizabeth WILSON CLARK?
Probably grasping at straws!

Thanks Kathy, I had never had any indication that my Clark bros were related
to the explorer. In fact I think they are related to Henderson Clark friend
of Davey Crockett. Many men from Tenn came to Texas with Davey Crockett in
1835 and there seems to be another great migration in the early 1850's. If
anyone had any info on Isaac J Clark b 14 Feb 1818 or his brother M C
(Micajah?) Clark b 1820 I would like to hear from you.
Thanks again for checking,

Cousins,
I have a book on Jonathon Clark's line and have found no mention of a David
Clark. This is a book of excerpts taken from "The Filson Club History
Quarterly".
"John Clark, son of Jonathan and Elizabeth (Wilson) Clark was born 9 OCT.
1725 in King and Queen Co.VA. and died in August, 1799."
John Clark married ca 1749 to Ann Rogers, d/o John and Rachel (Eastham)
Rogers.
He shared 820 acres with his brother Benjamin in Albemarle Co.VA.
"Ann Rogers Clark was born 21 Oct. 1728 in King and Queen Co.Va. and died 24
Dec. 1798 at "Mulberry Hill," where she and her husband are buried in
unmarked graves."
Children of John and Ann Rogers Clark:
Jonathon b. 12 Aug.1750
George Rogers Clark, b. 19 Nov. 1752 d. 13 Feb. 1818
Ann b. 14 Ju. 1755 d. 3 Oct. 1822 m. 20 Oct.1773, Owen Gwathmey.
John b. 15 Sep.1757 d. 29 Oct. 1783
Richard b. 6 Jul.1760 d. Mar. 1783
Edmund b. 25 Sep. 1762 d. 11 Mar. 1815
Lucy b. 15 Sep.1765 d. Apr.1838 m. 17 Jul.1789 William Croghan
Elizabeth b. 11 Feb. 1768 d. 15 Jan. 1795 m. 24 Nov. 1787 Richard Clough
Anderson.
William b. 1 Aug.1770 d. 1 Sep. 1838 m. 1st 5 Jan. 1808 Julia Hancock and
2nd. 28 Nov. 1821 Mrs. Harrier Pollard.
Frances Eleanor b. 20 Jan. 1773 d. 19 June 1825 m. 3 times.
Hope it helps someone.

The book 'From Sea to Shining Sea' by Alex Thom is a good source of info for
the Rogers/Clark family. It is a historical novel and very interesting
reading. Has a family tree chart inside the cover. All though William had
brothers, not all lived to marry and have families.
