My gr-gr-gr grandmother was Elizabeth CLARK, b. March 31, 1792 Beaver
County, PA. She first married a WATSON, then after Mr. Watson's death, she
married James TRUESDALE on June 6, 1809 in Beaver County, PA. They moved to
Fredericksburg, Wayne County, OH around 1817. They were some of the first
members of the Old Associate Seceder Church in Fredericksburg, OH. She died
November 24, 1876 in Fredericksburg, OH
According to a book in the DAR library, "Descendants of John Truesdale of
Cumberland County, PA" by Karl Truesdell, this is the rest of Elizabeth
CLARK TRUESDALE's family:
David CLARK born about 1762 in County Antrim, Ireland and died 1832 in
Beaver County, PA married Tamar JEFFERS about 1782. They had the following
children:
i. David CLARK, born about 1786, died before 1827. He was deceased in
his father's will and had a son David.
ii. Allen CLARK
iii. John CLARK, born January 19, 1788, Beaver Falls, PA, died January
10, 1860. He married 1) Mary TRUESDALE in 1808. She died in childbirth. He
married 2) Sarah FOSTER.
iv. Margaret CLARK born about 1790, died before 1827. She was married
and had children.
v. Elizabeth CLARK
I would appreciate any additional information.

Hello List Members,
I attempted to post the following message on 29 March, 2000, but it was
returned to me, so I'm trying again:
I am searching for info on William D. Clarke (my great grandfather) and
his family who lived in Lancaster and/or Northumberland Counties, VA.
I have located this family on the 1870 Northumberland Co. census as
follows: William D. - age 59, Elizabeth, wife - age 44, siblings -
Louemma, John W. D. Lilia A., and Bettie C. I have Louemma's marriage
record and death certificate and know that her 2nd husband was Thomas
Lawson. I have been told that Bettie's husband was Frank Fisher (no
other info), and that Lilia married William H. Tapscott (no other
info). John W. D. was my grandfather married to Savannah Carter. I
have no knowledge of William D. Clarke's parents, etc. or any
information prior to or after the 1870 census. Any help will be
appreciated.

Hi, Joe! Thank you so much for your help.
No, no Elisha. The children of Jacob and Elizabeth Clark Sherwood were Jane
Charlotte, Justus, Mary, Jacob, William, Elizabeth, Susanna, Joe Alexander,
Sarah,
Rachel, Deborah, John Walter, and Charles Miles. They were all born between
1806 and 1835.
The children of John and Elizabeth Clark Wetmore (that I know of) were
Thomas and Clark.
Where do you suggest I go for information about the descendants of the
brothers of
the Elizabeth Clark you found (Willam L., Benjamin, James G., George,
Elisha and Isaac)? I am hoping that one of them had a son named Ezra S.
Clark who married Sophia and is buried in Dover, ME.
Thanks so much for your help, I am going to look into this line. I have a
feeling you have me on the right track!

Hello list members,
I am looking for information about the ancestors, siblings and
descendants of Elizabeth Clark , 6/11/1787- 10/16/1852, who in 1805
married Jacob Sherwood ( 3/23/1779- 2/2/1838). They lived in New
Brunswick, Canada, which was originally part of Nova Scotia.
For Sherwood researchers, Jacob's line is Thomas (1), Stephen (2),
Joseph (3), Joseph(4) Justus (5) Jacob (6).
I am wondering if the same Elizabeth Clark may have also been the second
wife of John Wetmore, who was born on the 7th of July in 1755, in Rye,
Westchester County, New York and who died the 4th of May in 1848, in
Beaver River, Yarmouth or Digby County, Nova Scotia.
For Wetmore researchers, his line is Thomas (1) Izrahiah (2) James (3)
James (4) John (5).
If anyone has any information about the family of Elizabeth Clark
1787-1852, or any information linking her to Elizabeth Clark, 2nd wife
of John Wetmore, or refuting such a link (such as dates of Elizabeth,
wife of John Wetmore), or information about the family of Elizabeth,
wife of John Wetmore, I would love to hear from you.

Hello list members,
I am researching the line of Ezra S. Clark, 1817-1852, who is buried in
the Dover-Foxcroft cemetery Old Yard, along with his wife and children.
His wife was Sophia. His children were Nancy, 1844-1862, Bethia (?)
1847-1859, Marcia, 1852-1857, and MAry W., 1852-1857. An Abigail Kidder,
1799-1865 is also buried in the same plot with the family.
Does anyone have any information about the ancestors of this line, or
any information as to the identity of Abigail Kidder? She was living
with the John Wetmore Sherwood family in 1850 in Dover, and is buried
next to him in the cemetery. Some records indicate she may have been his
wife, bit I ma not convinced.
Any information about this line of Clarks would be truly appreciated!
Thanks!
Celia
One of my ggg grandfathers was named Jonathan G. Clark, b in Spanish W. Florida, d 1819 in Spanish W. Fla. Wife was Catherine Garnhart, d abt 1811 in Spanish W. Fla. They had two children: Henry (d 1819) and Elizabeth Ann (b abt 1800 in Spanish W. Fla, d abt 1835 in Mississippi.
I am descended from Elizabeth and have much from there on down the totem pole. Have been unable to get anything before Jonathan. Does this ring any bells?
Thanks,

Hi Jan, I hope that I'm not sending information that you already have.
There is a Bible/family record of Eleazer's family at the Rhode Island
Historical Society Library. The copy of the image is inverted (background is
black, writing is white) making it difficult to read in places. Some of the
entries are as follows.
Sibbel Clarks book
after my deceas this book goes to my son Erastus Clark
[in a different hand]After my death give this book to my son Horace Clark
[same hand as above] presented to Rhoda Clark Brown by her father Horace Clark
Eleazer Clark was born December the 23 1750
Sibble Clark the wife of Eleazer Clark was born November 27 1759
Jacob Clark was born March the 14 1785
Eleazer Clark was born October the 5 1787
Amos Clark was born May the 4 1789
Polly Clark was born December the 30 1790
Erastus Clark was born August the 5 1793
Roswell was born June the 5 1798
Prudence Clark was born December the 17 1802
Roswell Clark deceast February the 8 1820
Sibil Clark deceast May the 19 1839 the wife of Eleasor Clark
Eleaser Clark deceast June 27 1842
There are a few more entries for later generations which take some
deciphering. I'll send these also if you would like.
..................................................................
These entries are found in the vital records of Gloucester.
Died June 14 1867- Amos Clark- 78 yrs., 1 mo.- married [at time of death]-
Farmer- born, Gloucester- parents Eleazer & Sybil Clark-cause, heart disease
Died June 17 1867-Nancy Clark-74 yrs.-widow-housekeeper-born, Thompson, CT-
parents, Ebenezer & Melissa Greene-cause, heart disease
The published vital records of CT, the Barbour Collection, do not contain a
birth or marriage for Nancy Greene at Thompson.
....................................................................
I checked the Gloucester, RI probate records and found a few entries for
Clarks. Since there were so few of the surname in the area I wouldn't be
surprised if they were somehow connected.
.....................................................................
Eleazer's Rev War pension material is not helpful, as you perhaps know. He
places himself in Cranston, RI at the beginning of his military service. The
1774 census of RI lists only one Clarke family in Cranston, that of John
Clarke, as follows:2 males above 16, 1 male under 16, 1 female above 16 and 2
females under 16. The family is at the right place and the head of the house
is named John. Although Eleazer resided in Gloucester after the war perhaps
the Cranston records are worth a look.
........................................................................
The family of Cornelius Clarke, to the best of my knowledge, has no
connection to the Eleazer family. I suspect that Eleazer's ancestors are one
on the many CT or MA Clarke families. I might mention that the ancestry of
Cornelius' wife, Patience Carter, is a well plowed field and nothing has been
found, to my knowledge.
..........................................................................
I have Morrison's book and find no entry for the marriage of John Clarke and
Mary Black. Nor do I find any entry in the IGI for the marriage in RI or CT.
I would appreciate if you would send me your source for the marriage. With
more to go on I may be able to help. Also, what is your source for Sybil's
maiden name, Reynolds?
Yours, Tom Clarke
Dear List,
Is there someone who owns a copy of the CLARKS of RI by Morrison who
would be so kind as to check for John Clarke married Mary Black?
One of their children was Eleaser Clarke, a Revolutionary soldier, born
1 Jun 1757 died 21 Jun 1842 in Glocester, Prov., RI. Therefore, John
Clarke must be of the era to be born about 1737 or earlier.
I am interested to know the names and locations of other children of
John Clarke and Mary Black.
Thank you kindly for your time and effort. Janice Gould Johnson
Good Afternoon Everyone,
Am seeking information on the following family:
Samuel L. Clark
b. abt 1814 in Ohio or NY -- depends on census you look at
d. aft 1880 - probably in Jack Co., Texas
married 1835 in Coles Co., Ill to
Isabel NEELY Clark - daug. of Charles NEELY & Jane MARTIN
b. abt 1806 in Logan Co., Ky.
children:
Emma - 1837 - md. Nelson H. MARTIN
Naomi - 1839
John Thomas - 1840 - md. Charity Ann HIGHTOWER
Charles - 1844
Sarah A. - 1847 - md R. J. DOYLE
Daniel James Edwin - 1849 - md. Mary Lucinda MILLER
and possibly another child.
Notes:
Samuel Lee Clark - was the son of John CLARK and Anar GIBBS. At least that
is the theory right now and it seems to be working out....
He married his brother's widow Isabel NEELY Clark. He is in the 1840 census
of Shelby Co., Ill, the 1850 census of Dallas Co., Texas, and the 1880 census
of Jack Co., Texas. And appears in tax rolls in Denton Co., Texas, Dallas
Co., Texas, and Parker Co., Texas. He is listed as one of the early Baptist
Ministers performing marriages in Dallas Co. Texas and Ellis Co., Texas. And
is listed in the History of the Primitive Baptists in Texas as starting
churches in the area.
Isabel NEELY Clark married first Orange Clark, brother of John Thomas Clark.
Isabel and Orange Clark has one daughter Jane who was then raised by John
Thomas Clark and Isabel after they married.
This family lives in New York, Ohio, Illinois, and Texas and descendants then
moved to New Mexico, Arizona, and Oklahoma.
Would love any assistance, corrections on this family and would love to share
with any new "cousins" -- Thanks so much -- Emma
Good Afternoon Everyone,
I am seeking information on the following family:
John Thomas Clark - son of Samuel L. CLARK & Isabel NEELY
b. 1840 in Moultrie Co., Illinois
d. 1922 in New Mexico
married - July 1866 Texas
Charity Ann HIGHTOWER - daug. of Joshua HIGHTOWER & Martha WATKINS
b. 1849 in Izard Co., Arkansas
d. Jan. 1931 New Mexico
children:
Martha Isabel - 1867
Mary Jane - 1869
James Neely - 1871
twins - died as infants - 1874
John Edwin - 1875
Sarah Luann - 1877
Charles Franklin - 1879
twins - died as infants - 1881
Richmond Owen - 1883
Lillian Mae - 1885
Chariety Ellen - 1887
William Harvey - 1889
Notes:
John Thomas CLARK and Charity Ann HIGHTOWER were probably married in Parker
Co., Texas. But since a fire destroyed records there I have not been able to
find that information.
John Thomas CLARK is in the 1850 census of Dallas Co., Texas, the 1860 census
of Parker Co., Texas, the 1870 tax roll of Hood Co., Texas, the 1880 census
of Coleman Co., Texas, the 1900 census of Sierra Co., New Mexico, and the
1910 census of Grant Co., New Mexico. He was a carpenter, a sheriff, and an
ordained Baptist Minister and as you can tell -- the family moved a lot.
Charity Ann Hightower is in the 1850 census of Izard Co., Arkansas, the 1860
census of Johnson Co., Texas, the 1880 census of Coleman Co., Texas, the 1900
census of Sierra Co., New Mexico, and the 1910 census of Grant Co., New
Mexico.
Members of this family lived in Illinois, Arkansas, Texas, New Mexico, &
Arizona.
Any assistance, corrections, etc greatly appreciated -- Would love to share
information with "cousins" -- thanks -- Emma
Hi Janice... Do you have any more kids (dates & spouses) of Eleazer? I
would like to add them to my data base.
Maybe I have some of them in my data base and can make some
