Searching for info regarding my g-granddad, George Rust CLARK
Born: 18 January 1862, Edinbourough, Midlothian, Scotland
Immigrated through New York City in 1881
Was naturalized as US Citizen, Watertown, NY on 19 October 1891
died: 1933 at Clayton, NY
Married: Emma Alveretta GARNSEY date Unk
Emma data: born 22Dec1864 at Gananoque, Ontario, Canada
Died: 13Dec1949 at Chittenango, Madison Cnty, NY
Issue of the marriage: Floyd B. Clark, b: 30Jan1888 (m: Mary Robinson)
Kathleen Bertha Clark, b: 10Apr1897 (m: Joseph Lloyd
Graves) (my grandmother)
Christine Clark b: Unk (Aunt "Teen")(m: Archibald
Barnhart)
George and family lived at Clayton, NY. I believe he initially worked as a
farmer with Hubbard Garnsey on Grindstone Island. Later he worked as a
stonecutter in Carthage remaining there during the workweek and returning
home on the weekends. Emma took very ill after the death of George and went
to live with daughter, Kathleen Graves in Chittenango, NY
I have descendant data from Kathleen. I have no further data on George,
Christine, or Floyd -- any help would be appreciated.
My data has been gleaned my mother's family bible, my babybook, and the
Dillenbeck Library in Watertown.
I am looking for HENRY C. CLARK, my ggrandfather who married SARAH
CATHERINE CLOSSON WILSON (one of four marriages for her-Wilson, Clark,
Peters, and Stutzman) on April 27, 1887, in Cassopolis, Michigan.. The
marriage record shows that he was an engineer and was born in Indiana
and was 27 years old. My grandmothers (Lula Clark Bowers) birth
certificate shows that he was born in Kentucky. That's all the
information I have. One medical feature-- My grandmother had
Huntington's disease. also an aunt and uncle. Fortunately my mother did
not. We strongly suspect that it passed down through Henry Clark. (St.
Vitus dance?) It is a dominant gene and if you have the gene you get the
disease. Any family records with this branch?
Thanks so much.

Elizabeth Clarke (or Clark) was born ca 1785 in Keene, Cheshire, New
Hampshire. On 1 Sept 1806 she married Asa Dickinson in Keene. They
moved to Swanzey, Cheshire county by 1815. Who were Elizabeth's
parents and siblings? When did she die and where?
Janet King Bower
We have an embroidered map of Ireland in our family that was done by Jane
Clark(e) while she was attending Miss Raines Boarding School. We believe Jane
to be a relative as my great-aunt (deceased) had told us. It was done in
1803. Our family names include--Ordway (Vermont-New Hampshire), Pawling
(Pennsylvania), Hayburn (Pennsylvania), Crook (New Hampshire-Vermont)--does
this Jane Clarke appear to have any links to these names other than
Pennsylvania!?

If you are related to this Clark family line and have any information please
advise JAMES D. CLARK, fruit grower and farmer in Gilpin township, Armstrong
county, was born in Kiskiminetas township, this county, April 20, 1868, a son
of Jacob W. Clark and a grandson of Henry Clark.
Henry Clark son of John Clark was for many years a farmer in Kiskiminetas
township, Armstrong county, and died there when aged seventy years. He
married Magdelena Knepshield, and they had the following children: Susanna,
George W. , Jacob W., John K., Martha, Mary, Nancy, Margaret, Ida and Henry.
Jacob W. Clark, son of Henry was born Aug. 21, 1847, on the old farm of his
parent’s, where he grew to manhood. He has engaged in farming all his life,
and resides on his valuable estate of ninety acres, which is situated in
Parks township. He is a well known and respected man, and is at present
serving as supervisor of his township. He married Catherine A. Shutt,
daughter of Michael Shutt of Spring Church, Armstrong county, and they have
five sons: James D., Harry M., Grover C., Allen C., and William J.
James D. Clark was reared on the home farm and attended the country schools
until he was sixteen years of age, when he went to Parsons Kan., remaining
there one year and returning to the homestead after this glimpse of western
life. When twenty-one years old he began farming for himself and remained
twelve years in Burrell township, moving from there to his native township,
in which he lived for seven years. In 16 he bought the Capt. Henry Truby farm
in Gilpin township, containing 104 acres, and has developed into one of the
foremost fruit growers in western Pennsylvania. He has orchards of choice
varieties covering twenty-three and a half acres of his valuable farm, and to
this industry he gives constant personal attention. His success along this
line has made him well known, and he is looked upon as an authority in
everything considering the raising of fruit. During the harvest seasons he
gives employment to quite an army of men and boys and during the blossoming
seasons, his fruit farm, just one mile east of Leechburg, is a scene of
beauty that attracts many admiring visitors.
Mr. Clark married Anna Remaly, a daughter of W. R. Remaly, and they have six
children: Charles J., Howard E., Ada E., Robert H., James E. and Lawrence D.
Mr. Clark and family are members of the Hebron Lutheran Church at Leechburg.
He casts his vote with the Democratic party, but takes no part other than a
good citizen’s interest in political matters.

Looking for GEORGE CLARK/CLARKE who was in Frederick Co., VA in 1781. His
dau Elizabeth was born Feb 4 1781 near Winchester.
New info says his first wife and Elizabeth's mother was Decima _____ .
Older info says George's wife was Jane Mercer, dau of Edw. Mercer. This is
wrong, Edw's dau Jane never married. Have found nothing to support a Jane
Mercer as wife.
I guesstimate George born 1735 to 1760. Don't know if Elizabeth 1st child or
last child.
Does anyone have any info George or Clark/Clarke families in Frederick Co,
VA in 1780's? Any info greatly appreciated.
George Simmons
Myrna,
I don't know if this inquiry about Cyrus Clarke being a family name was
intended for me or for Cyrus Henry Clarke. My great-great-grandfather Cyrus
H. Clarke (the H. may have been for Higgins as that was his mother's maiden
name) was, as far as I can tell, the only Cyrus in the bunch. The family
names that repeat most often in our lines are Archibald (very occasionally
spelled Archibold in some records), Thomas, Samuel, William, and Elizabeth.
They probably left Ireland, went to VA (now WV), and then to Coshocton
Co.,OH. Some stayed in OH, some went to IN. From IN, some went to
Clarksville, Iowa, some to southeastern Kansas. From Iowa some went on to
Washington and some returned to Iowa from Washington. Even with these
distances, it was not uncommon to find a member of one group visiting and/or
writing members of other groups. If that sounds like your line, let me know.

Subject: [CLARKE] Thanksgiving greetings!
> Greetings Cousins and Clark(e)s,
>
> This is a note to wish you and yours a sweet and beautiful day. I am so
grateful to know my family keeps the traditions which make America a place
where the spirit of liberty lives, grows and thrives.
>
> My wife and daughters today, out of honor and love, will raise our glasses
to our ancestors for giving us this tremendous gift. We pray our future
generations will live in a world where universal thanksgiving and peace is
the order of each day. And we wish all of you health, happiness, and peace.

Happy Day After Thanksgiving:
I'm still looking for the origins of a Mr. and Mrs. James Clark, living in
Westport, MA, during the 1830's.
James and Lavair Clark had a daughter, Mary A. Clark, who was born
in Westport, MA, in 1837. (She married John Dexter of CT.)
Westport, MA, is near New Bedford and Fall River, MA.
Thanks, Betty
(near Lowell, MA)
