Joe, I am no longer subscribed to the Clark mailing list, but I wanted to
let
you know that Linda Porto, Louisiana Clark researcher from Texas, died
last
Wednesday. I read the obituary in the paper this morning, and was shocked
because I didn't know she was ill. She was only 44.
If you would like me to share the entire obituary with you, let me know.
I
hope you'll tell the other Clark researchers. I can also send her address
for
those that wish to send cards to the family. She was a terrific person,
and
she and I had met to do research and were planning to get together again.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Janice, and all on this wonderful List,
I don't know for sure about the copyright. As I noted, the book is by
George MacKenzie, and it was published by Genealogical Publishing
Company of Baltimore in 1966. My notes don't show whether it was a
reprint of some earlier work. The framework of the information from
MacKenzie was supplemented by information from the Cunningham family
Bible, information from the copybook and writings of NANCY ANN CLARK (my
great-great-grandmother) various Census records, and "The Clark
Genealogy" compiled by Emma Lee Walton, published by Frank Allaben
Genealogical Company, Forty-second Street Building, New York, 1913,
as well as various email communications.
I'm sorry if I should have noted all the sources more completely, and
if this is customary, I will try to be more conscious of that. Thank
you all again,
Regards,
Carolyn Carter Johnson (email to: rhunterg(a)ix.netcom.com)

My thanks to each and all of you who so kindly responded to my inquiry
about the descendants of DANIEL CLARK. I just now loaded a new program
so I could send Descendant Charts, so thought I would forward this.
PLEASE, PLEASE let me know any corrections, etc. This is almost
entirely from "Colonial Families of the United States of America" by
George MacKenzie. Thank you all again.

of the consignees of tea destroyed in the Boston Tea Party; he went to
London, arriving 24 Dec. 1775, and remained there until his death.

Richard Clarke (1711-1795) Loyalist merchant. After graduating from
Harvard in 1729, Clarke became a merchant in his native Boston. His firm
propered and by the 1770's was one of the leading mercantile companies of
the city. In 1773, Clarke was one of the East Indian Company consignees
for the tea dumped by a patriot mob during the Boston Tea Party. He was
personally attacked by the Sons of Liberty for refusing to resign as
agent for the East India Company. Having enough of rebellious agitation,
Clarke went to England in 1775 and became one of the founders of the

I am searching for information on a Tom, Etta and possible Mattie(Madie) Clark
that would have been from Arkansas. Etta I know moved to Ms. and married first
a Kendall then a Chaney. Mattie I heard married a Franklin . All of these
would have been half siblings to my Grandfather Christopher Fisk born in
1881. I don't know who parents were and this would help my search. Thanks if
you are able to help.
