I am currently searching for the correct parents of
Sarah Clark(e) who married John Eaton. The line as I have outlined it

had a daughter, Sarah in 1739, I have been unable to prove that she is
the one who married my John Eaton. However many indicators point to that
conclusion. If anyone has any information which can bolster or disprove
this theory, please drop me a line. Thanks. Regards, Ginny (Virginia

`````I mentioned George Clark in the cemeteries of Lavaca, here is a note on
him from the Mier Expedition:
CLARK. George Wilson Clark was the son of John Alexander Clark whose land
holdings included part of current St. Louis, Missouri. The family comprised of
John Clark's second wife, Mary Margaret Kerr (sister of Major James Kerr), two
small children and three of nine children by a first wife came by boat via New
Orleans arriving at Lavaca Bay in 1838. Wilson was part of the latter children
and arrived with the family by oxcart from the bay on the Ashby tract on the
Lavaca River which John Clark purchased. Essentially residents of the Zumwalt
Settlement, the
family built a two room cabin and improved the land for farming and ranching.
Wilson Clark was a member of Capt. Adam Zumwalt's minuteman company of Lavaca
River settlers in numerous encounters with Indians and served in the Vasquez
and Woll campaigns of 1842 as part of Capt. Zumwalt's company. He participated
in the Sommerville Expedition in Capt. Isaac Mitchell's unit. He participated
in the Mier Expedition in Capt. Reeses Company where he was
captured, imprisoned and released Sep 1844. The John Clark family is listed in
the 1850 census of LavacaCo: CLARK: Jno. 56, m KY; Margaret 34, f KY; WILLSON:
Geo. (Insane) 31, m MO; John A. 15, m MO; Thomas 13, m MO; Franklin 7, m TX;
Richard J. 5m; WILLSON: Margaret E. 3, f TX; Stephen A. 1, m TX. It is thought
that household members listed as "Willson" may be those of George Wilson
Clark.
**note: Stephen might be a son of Aaron CLARK + Elisabeth BARTLETT. They
had a son Stephen (b. 6/4/1747), who died young. Another Stephen may have
been born after that.
OKAY! Let's see if this works. Split into two halves.
Descendents of William + Sarah CLARK, who settled in Northampton, MA in the
mid-1600's, as they appear in the Vital Records for that town. Names,
dates, etc. lying within brackets [] are NOT from the VRs, but from various
online sources. I needed some information to fill in gaps. I have omitted
some of the extra people I included in my own chart originally, but never
appear in the VRs. Keeping those people in the chart would rather defeat
the purpose of this sort of thing. A "?" means that either the information
is not in the VRs, or that there is no further mention of that individual
in the records. It may also indicate questionable dates or relationships
(IMO), if it follows a date or name. { }'s around a date or place mean
that that information is inferred (wedding date: by first birth of child -
birth date: by death date and age at death) or is something from my own
records outside of VRs (only a few cases of that). I have put as place
name for any record in the Northampton Vitals as "NH" for Northampton.
This does NOT necessarily mean that the event took place there.
Occasionally (especially for marriages), if someone *connected* to
Northampton is involved, it was written in the VRs.
Spellings of names and places (except for Northampton) are as they appear
in the records, mistakes and all.
I made notes to myself after some entries, such as "check this." If anyone
can confirm or disprove information I wasn't certain about, please let me
know.
Important: Northampton broke up during the 1700's into Northampton,
Westhampton, Easthampton, and possibly a few other towns. I haven't looked
much yet into the history of the towns. Anyway, many families simply drop
in and out of the records if they lived in one of those areas. I hope to
someday have time to go through the other town's records to create an even
more complete outline.
If anyone has any questions, comments, suggestions, complaints, etc., feel
free to email me. I'll also look up other names for people. I only have
birth records until the very early 1800's (and those are scarce), and death
+ marriage records until the 1840's.
Hope this chart isn't too messy! Those who emailed me asking for a copy of
the Word document: if you still want it, I'll send it if you request again.
E.W. Clark, a member of the firm of Reed & Clark, livery, feed, and sale
stable, Belton, Texas, dates his birth in South Carolina, August 8, 1847.
His parents,
John and Nancy (Isom) Clark, were also natives of South Carolina. Both his
paternal and maternal grandsires were planters and old settlers of South
Carolina, and both served in the war for independence. The father of our
subject died in 1857, and the mother in 1861. Eight children were born to
them, whose names were as follows: Tilman, John, William and Fletcher,
deceased; Nancy P., deceased, wife of W.D. Mason; Sarah L., wife of M. L.
McDonald, Mollie E., widow of J.P. McDonald, and E. W., whose name appears
above.
Mr. Clark was educated in the common schools of Homer, Banks County, Georgia,
to which place his father had moved some time before his death. At the age of
sixteen he took upon himself the responsibilities of conducting the home farm.
He was thus occupied until 1871, when he left Georgia, and came to Texas,
settling in Bell County. One year he worked in a sawmill, and for seven
years was employed as clerk in James Fletcher's country store on Little River.
In 1879, he went to Hamilton Cty., and was engaged in the cattle business for
one year. Returning to Bell Cty., in December, 1880, he was at that time
married, and at once located on a farm on Knob Creek, this county. He
continued farming and stock raising until November, 1890. In March, 1891, he
bought an interest in the livery business in company with C.C. Hartly. This
partnership continued until June first of that year, when Mr. Reed purchased
the interest of Mr. Hartly, and the firm became Reed & Clark. They conduct
the largest livery establishment in the county. Mr. Clark also has other
business interests. He is proprietor of one of the best small stores of its
kind in Belton. It is fitted up on Austin street and does an extensive
business in the way of feeding the hungry on short notice, and in this
establishment three or four men are employed. Mr. Clark has a farm of 221
acres, 135 of which are under cultivation. This property is well improved,
with good buildings, etc., and on it are to be found some fine stock.
Especially are his Holstein cattle worthy of notice.
Mrs. Clark was before her marriage, Miss Louisa L. Marshall. Her father,
Louis Marshall, is referred to in the sketch of J.T. Reed. Their union has
been blessed by the birth of four children, Louis L., Thomas C., Hubly W.,
and Preble.
Mr. Clark is a member of the A.F. and A.M., Temple Lodge, No. 410.
Silas J. Clark, a farmer of Bell Cty., was born in Lincoln Cty., Tennessee,
February 12, 1846, a son of Benjamin F. Clark, a native of Georgia. The
latter subsequently removed to Tennesse, where he served as Justice of the
Peace and Probate Judge for thirty years, and was a prominent and influential
man. He died in that state May 15, 1866. He married Mary Mitchell, a
daughter of John Mitchell, a native of South Carolina. He removed to Alabama
in an early day, and later to Mississippi, where he afterward died. The
parents reared a family of either children, of whom our subject was the
youngest child. Two of his brothers died in Virginia during their service in
the army, and only one brother and two sisters are now living. The sisters
are Mariah, of Texas, and Amacy, the widow of Mr. Flint.
Silas J. Clark was reared to farm life, and at the age of nineteen years he
entered the Confederate Army, as an escort of N.B. Forrest, and remained until
the close of the war. He surrendered at Gainesville, Alabama, after which he
returned to his home in middle Tennessee. In 1870 he came to Bell Cty.,
Texas, wehre his brother had located in 1854 and bought 320 acres of raw land,
which he afterward improved.
His brother, John W. Clark, served through the war in teh Seventeenth Texas
Infantry, and died April 4, 1889. Mr. Clark bought 900 acres of raw land in
this county, of which he now has 100 acres under cultivation, a good
commodious house, and all necessary farm buildings. He has 500 head of
sheep, 125 goats, twenty mules and is now preparing to cultivate more land.
Mr. Clark was married in 1871, to Mrs. C.A. Mitchell, widow of R.J. Mitchell
who died in service at Camden, Arkansas, in 1863. She is a daughter of
William and Lucy Gent, natives of Tennessee. The parents came to Texas in
1852, where the father died in April, 1860, and the mother now resides in
McLennan Cty. Mr. and
Mrs. Clark have had seven children, namely: Rufus R., born November 11,
1871, died March 8, 1880; James W., born March 4, 1874, is at home; Lucy
E., born March 29, 1877,; John W., born November 16, 1879; Lester F., born
November 22, 1882,: Edna M., born April 8, 1885, ; Lizzie I., born March 24,
1888.
Politically, Mr. Clark affiliates with the Democratic Party, socially he is a
member of the Masonic order; and religiously, both he and his wife are members
of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
>From old records in Bell County, the following biographies of misc. Clarks..
this one is for John A. Clark.
```````````````````````````````````````````````````````
John A. Clark, a farmer of Bell County, was born in Lincoln County, Tennessee
September 17, 1837, a son of Silas S. Clark, a native of South Carolina. The
latter came to Texas in 1854, settling in Bell County, but later removed to
Hopkins County, where he died in 1888. He married Miss Orpha, a daughter of
Amos Ayers, a native of Georgia and of German descent. The parents reared a
family of
eight children, vis.: Elizabeth A., deceased, was the wife of J.S. McCarver;
William, who died at the age of nine years; Sarah, deceased at the age of
fifteen years; Moses A., a farmer of Coryell County; Caroline, deceased,
was the wife of A. Woodard; John A., our subject; Nancy, deceased, was the
wife of John J. Ramsey; and Silas G., who died in services in the late war.
The mother died in May, 1860.
John A. Clark came to Texas in the spring of 1854, locating in Bell Cty. where
he began raising cattle. He bought 135 acres of land for stock purposes, but
the country afterward became fenced and he was obliged either to abandon the
business or go West. He chose the former, however, sold his ranch and stock,
and in 1870 purchased his present farm of 640 acres. He still owns 500 acres
of this tract, 100 acres of which is under a fine state of cultivation. In
1862 Mr. Clark enlisted in Company C, E.J. Gurley's regiment and served
principally in the Indian Nation. He participated in many skirmishes, and at
the close of the war was honorably discharged in Robertson Cty. and returned
home.
Our subject was married in 1857, to Miss Caroline E. Crawford, who was born
September 22, 1839, a daughter of Marshall Crawford, a native of North
Carolina. The latter removed to Hopkins Cty. Texas, in 1840, and twelve years
later he came to Bell Cty., where he died in 1877. His wife survived him
three years, dying in 1879. They were the parents of eight children, all of
whom reside in Texas. Mr. and Mrs. John A. Clark have had three children:
William S., born September 19, 1858, was a farmer by occupation, and was
married in 1877, and died April 4, 1891, leaving a wife and two children;
Emma G., born May 4, 1862, is the wife of John Bowley, a farmer of Brown Cty.;
Hellena, who married Mr. Johnson, September 25, 1892. Mr. Clark is a
Democrat in his political views, and both he and his wife are members of the
Methodist Episcopal Church.

Again, just some misc. records on Clarks- these are from misc. cemeteries in
Lavaca Cty. If the cemetary name is known, it is shown. I've no idea what
most of the letters mean, and some are self-explanatory.
