I recently started an EARLY CLARK project list to try to get as
much
info out to people on the early emigrants to USA. (I also have a selfish
reason since I'm trying to identify my own George CLARK in the
Lumberland,
Sullivan County NY area in the early 1800s).
I consider myself a compiler rather than a researcher on these
various
Early CLARK lines. I do not have any link (yet) to any of these lines.
It's certainly easier for me to cut and paste information that others
have
researched rather than doing the research myself. I have borrowed
extensively from others, but have listed these in my notes so you can
contact the individuals or WWW sites for more info.
CAUTION...SOME OF THIS DATA IS UNVERIFIED...USE AT YOUR OWN RISK...
THE DATA IMPROVES AS YOU TELL ME HOW TO CORRECT IT...
I try to identify each branch with a contact so that others
researching the same branch can make contact and exchange data directly.
Ideally, I would like to have 4 to 6 generations before 1800 with all the
names, dates, & places identified so other researchers can have a
reference point. I am not trying to have a complete Clark lineage beyond
1800, (with the possible exception of NY for selfish reasons!).
With that said, can you supply any more data on your Clark line
(or
any CLARK line), before 1800 that I can incorporate into my write-up
using
the cut and paste method of research? 8-)
Attached is one of my Early CLARK files....Enjoy....Please
furnish any
additions, corrections, deletions, etc. to the undersigned for
incorporation into the next revision...

I have most of the VRs from Northampton, MA, and am willing to do a lookup
for names. Please try to have an idea of the date though, to make it
easier to find. The VRs I have contain birth, marriage, and death dates
from early Northampton to around 1830.
What I plan to do is piece together all of the CLARK families in
Northampton during this time, and then, when done, post it to the list for
further clarifications/corrections/etc. The VRs don't say everything and
aren't always reliable, but are certainly a good tool. Unfortunately,
there is a gap in the marriage VRs in the mid 1700's, so if you're looking
for a marriage during that time, I probably won't find it.

Hello, Virginia:
The only information I can give you on the Allines is as follows:
1) Deacon Henry Alline (founder of the "New Light Movement") died in
Boston, 1695,
he married Mrs. Ann Taft
2) Henry Alline m. Elizabeth Hughes (descended from Isaac Allerton
of MF)
3) William Alline m. Rebecca Clark (daughter of Josiah &
Priscilla)
4) Abigail Alline 1760-1728 m. Jacob Porter 1759-1837
(my ggg grprts).
My best guess is that the two Henrys were from the Bay Colony; William &
Rebecca could have been either N.E. or N.S.; Abigail & Jacob were
Falmouth,N.S.
Don't know further back, but there are documented Allyns, Allens, etc.
I am interested in this line, but to date, have not researched it.

Subject: WILDER/CLARK/MA-1700's
Hi, Rooters,
Desperately Seeking:
In the "Book of Wilder" by the Rev. Wilder, are to be found
many written notes in the margins. One of these is for
the wife of my Aaron WILDER, Priscilla CLARK, dau. of
Joseph and (this next is hard to read) Sarah (?). =
Does anyone have any information re the identity of
this "Priscilla"? Since Aaron was b. 25 Aug. 1723, =
Lancaster, MA, she was probably born around the
same time. Aaron's brother, Jerahaleel, m.
a "Sarah CLARK", "of Worcester. I can find
neither Priscilla nor Sarah in Worcester V.R.
TIA for any help!

Still hunting for any information on Catherine Ann CLARK b. 1826 d. 15 Apr
1904.
On 01 Mar 1845 she married Henry Franklin CADY b. 1818 d. 1905. Henry's
family was from Stafford, CT.
Catherine's death certificate states she was born in CT - it may have been
Stafford. The death certificate also states that her father was an Alpheus
or Alfosus Clark. She lived her adult life in Lockport, Niagara County, NY
where her husband was an employee of the U.S. Post Office.
They had at least one child - Catherine Antoninette CADY who married
Francis Phelps WEAVER.
Any leads appreciated! Thanks. Bob.

Hello, Clark Seekers:
CLARK is a branch of my family tree that I have not attempted to
research -- 'till now.
My ggg grandfather was Jacob PORTER, b. 1759, d. 1837 prob. in Hants
Co., N.S. Jacob married Abigail ALLINE, born 1760, d. 1820, of
Falmouth, N.S. From there, it looks like this:
1) Jacob & Abigail
2) William ALLINE
m. Rebecca CLARK
3) Josiah CLARK
m. Priscilla
Est. Rebecca's Birthdate 1778-1800; and Josiah's 1735-1758.
Sorry, that's all I have on the CLARKS (but suspect Pilgrim ties).
Any clues or guidance will be very much appreciated.

Vickie -- if they left England in 1630 it must have been a slow boat.
Robert Charles Anderson, in "The Great Migration Begins", purports to list
all immigrants to New England through the year 1633, and Lt. William is not
included. He does have interesting discussions of the various Clarks who
did arrive by then, and comments on the many errors and contradictions in
the published accounts. The only one he lists whom I can "relate to" is
Nicholas -- and he is an ancestor of two of my grandchildren, through their
father (my son-in-law) so not directly mine. If you locate anything,
please let me know.

I don't know either; your "info" and conclusion could be correct. I am
interested in your sources. If the same Lt. William Clark did marry two
people named Sarah [the first whose surname is unknown but sometimes given
as ?Holton, and the second being the Sarah, possible daughter of George
Slye--widow of Cooper] (which, of course is possible), then we have the
interesting situation where Deacon John Clark's father married Deacon John
Clark's mother-in-law (the mother of his first wife, Rebecca Cooper).
Actually I know a couple couples today whose parents have done that.

First I want to thank those who posted the data, part of which is repeated
below. I do have a couple of comments:
1. I want again to encourage including sources so we can see where the
information came from.
2. With respect to Thomas 1, he had only two wives -- (1) Susannah Ring,
and (2) Alice Hallett -- daughter of Richard Hallett and widow of Mordecai
Nichols. Elizabeth Crow was the 2nd wife of Thomas 3 Clark [James 2,
Thomas 1], the grandson of Thomas 1. See "Thomas Clark(e) of Plymouth and
Boston" by Donald Lines Jacobus, TAG 47:3 (1971), and "Thomaas Clarke--Some
