I've "rescued" an old photograph of Arthur BELKNAPP which was taken at the
Hawkes Studio in West Union, Iowa. The photograph appears to have been taken
in the 1880's with Arthur appearing to be about 4-5 years old at the time
the photograph was taken. Based on limited research I was able to gather the
following information regarding Arthur and his family:
Arthur Aldrich BELKNAP was b. 16 Mar 1883 in Auburn, IA to parents Edward
Eastman BELKNAP (1851-1939) and Betsy Lordorski or Leadorska CLARK
(1850-1929) who were married 10 Dec 1875 in Fayette County, IA. Arthur was
one of 5 children born to this couple including, Clark Hiram; Ray Herman;
Arthur Aldrich; Allen Edward; and Ruel Kendall or Kendal BELKNAP, all born
between 1876 and 1889. Arthur married Sadie Rubena or Rebecca FINCH
(1883-1957) on 31 Aug 1908 in Alpha, IA and together they had two sons,
Amos A. BELKNAP (1913-1939) and Ramos R. BELKANP (1914-1939). Arthur died 6
Feb 1972 in Sumner or Tripoli, IA and he was buried in the Bethel Cemetery
in Hawkeye, IA.
I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that this photograph can
be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of this family, or
you know someone who might be, please contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley
