Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

Hi James,
FTM--Family Tree Maker--does not do DNA testing, however FTDNA--Family Tree DNA-- does, and they are not owned by Ancestry. You should be able to download your raw data from Ancestry and upload it to FTDNA for $69 and/or to GEDmatch for FREE. I have been researching since 1980 and manage multiple DNA kits. I'll be glad to help you in any way I can. Email my directly at gmcflc(a)gmail.com.

I have not received any markers from ancestry and I understand that is what I need to compare different families. I would get another DNA done by a different company but do not know what company would be the best. I have been told FTM is good but I think ancestry own that company also.

I also recommend uploading the raw data to GEDmatch.com. The tools there are more intensive and allow for comparing smaller segments. Mike's Kit # on GEDmatch is F9434.
