Pound Ridge is in Westchester County, just east of Bedford, NY. It also borders Stamford, Ridgefield and New Canaan CT and South Salem NY. Many of my ancestors moved up from Ct into NY. My Clarks are still a mystery. James Allen Clark is my 3rd great grandfather and brick wall.

Have you checked with the churches in the area? Unfortunately NY didn't start keeping records until the 1880's? or so. They can be very hard to come by even when they do exist. I have the same problem with my NY Clark's who were from Poundridge.

I have a dilemma. I am researching a Council Clark, son of Joseph Clark and Mary Swilley, born 1807, possibly in Jones County, North Carolina. My research has him in Dooley, Georgia marrying Sarah Powell in 1836 then moving to Sumter County. I have him serving in the Confederate States Army, Company A of the 12 Georgia Infantry, but he was discharged in Jan 1862 for being overage. My dilemma is that I have two places of death. The family trees I have seen show him dying in Twiggs County, Georgia in Jun of 1864, but there is also a Council Clark dying in the Alton, IL POW camp in Feb of 1864. I'm trying to resolve this and would appreciate any information available.

I'm stumped!! My great great great grandmother, Esther Ann Clark/Clarke was born about 1827 in NY (Kinderhook?) and in 1847 in the town of Nassau, NY, she married Jonas Rockefeller. They had for children including Spencer and Ardella (Della). I have tried the county clerk's office and town clerk's office for a marriage record, but neither have a copy dating that far back. Can anyone advise where else to look?

The last information I had about Charles Frederick was his divorce in 1956 from his wife of 7 years, Jessie Eleanor Duncan, nee Romanes, who was born in 1919, in Duns, Berwickshire. There appear to be no records of children of this marriage, and I believe Jessie remarried at least once more. Charles Frederick was not named on her death certificate, as whoever recorded her death didn't seem to know his name.
His father, Charles Inglis Clark was born about 1888, became a captain in the Army Service Corps, and was killed in action in Mesopotamia in 1918. His wife was Mary Margaret Matthews Frederick 1894-1940
Charles Frederick Inglis Clark was born in 1917, just a year before his father was killed in WW1.
Would anyone know anything about Charles Frederick? It is possible he could still be alive as I cannot find any death records in Scotland or England. Maybe he emigrated? Anyone in US, Canada, Australia, or NZ know the name? He had cousins Robert Clark Jeffrey and Ian Jeffrey in Scotland.

I have been searching in vain for the parents of my great-grandfather, Joseph S. Clark, born in Philadelphia 1880. He had two brothers, George (1882) and Andrew (1886) also born in Philadelphia. Their mother was Mary Josephine Clark who later remarried Alvin D. Brandt of Philadelphia. However, there is no information of what her maiden name was or who the father was to these boys.
My great-grandfather was a stock broker with Townsend Biddle in Philadelphi and was on the Board of Trustees at Gerard College.
