The Asbury information that you sent confirmed what I already knew. Thanks. My original answer to your Jeptha Clark inquiry was that I didn't know where my Jemima Clark came from. I still don't, except that I already knew she was Robinson's wife and Henry Asbury's mother-in-law.

Thanks, for the Asbury lineage. It showed me that I had made a mistake when I answered you off the top of my head without looking at my files. Jane Jemima Clark was married to John Robinson. She was the mother of Rev. Henry Asbury's WIFE, Susannah Elizabeth.
That is a lesson for everyone: One shouldn't answer a genealogy question from that far back without checking your records. - Julie

I am looking to break down a wall and find something out about my grandfathers people please read this little story and if it rings a bell please tell me about it.
This is a story told to me by my Aunt Mary. the story is about Michael John Devlin b1901. Michael John devlin was born in Scotland in Motherwell. His father John Devlin son of Thomas devlin and Rose Lohair married Catherine Clark daughter of Thomas Clark and Catherine Higgins . When he was about four he was put into a children's home and we have no record of what became of his parents. some family members believe John Devlin went back to Ireland and died. Some time later he was taken out of the home by an aunt who may have been named Murray. he liked living with her and helped her on a farm. When he was older he and a friend held parties where he played music and his friend served food. The two were making money to get to America. Later Michael worked in a steel mill as a puddler.

Hey Kelly:
Good to hear from you. I have not had a chance to do much research on the Javan Tubal Fallaw line. But here is what I have.
Javan was born 14 Sep 1831 in the Lexington District of South Carolina. His father's name was Richard Fallaw (you can find him in the 1850 Census of SC as Richard Falaw). He was born about 1808 in SC. Javan's mother is not known. It is believed that she died before 1850. Javan had a younger brother,Japheth Togarman Fallaw born 8 Dec 1833. It is believe he may have also died before 1850. Richard re-married to Martha Ann Williams around 1838 - she and children are listed in the 1850 Census also (she is incorrectly listed as 4 years old rather than 40). Javan is the last one listed in the household - as being 19 years old.
Richard and family left SC in the 1850's and moved to Alabama. There were a number of family members from SC that had already moved there. They spent some time in Georgia around Macon - it is believd. One of their children died on the trip to Alabama - per a letter from Martha to her father.
Apparently, Javan married in Macon and they had two children. Her name is unknown. The children where Charlton Javan Fallaw born in 1855 and Laurn Fallaw born in 1859. Javan and children are found in the 1860 Census of Alabama. That is the last information I have on Javan Tubal Fallaw.
Richard Fallaw's father was Henry Fallaw (circa 1765-1853). And his father was Lewis Fallw (circa 1740 - 2 Sep 1782).
Any updates to the above information would be appreciated.
Here is some information that I have on Charlton Javan Fallaw's family.
Her married Florida Clark. She was born in Georgia and died in Memphis and is buried at Forest Hills Cemetery. I have dates, death certificate, etc. Don't have much on the Clark family.
Charlton Javan Fallaw owned a saloon and grocery store in Memphis in early 1900's. I have his death certificate, burial information.
Their children:
I have same information you have on John who died in 1895.
I have Edna married to William G. Lanham. Have her death certificate. They had three children: Edna Dorothy (born 1901), Floy (born 1903) and William G. Jr. (born 19 Sep 1922). He died 29 Jan 2006 in Memphis. Would like to know his children's name - could be a good source of information.
Don't have any information yet on Mabel.
Have same information on Beulah that you have.
Have information on Charlton Glisson - but would appreciate any updates.
Have exchanged emails with the daughter of Wanda Edna Fallaw.
Have not been able to locate much on Glison Neal Fallaw - would appreciate any updates. Know that he had two sons - Mike and Patrick - assume they are your father/uncle.
All for now,
Chuck Fallaw

Hatteras Island DNA Projects
Hatteras Island is a very unique place with an incredibly interesting history and geography as well.
. Hatteras Island is the location where the Lost Colonists indicated that they went, to join their friends, the Croatoan Indians.
. Hatteras Island has a long history of shipwrecks, with many families carrying the oral history that they descend from shipwreck victims.
. Hatteras Island has an equally long oral history that many of the current residents descend from the original residents, the Croatoan (later the Hatteras) Indians.
. Early records confirm his history in various ways. For example, by 1710, the Farrows, O'Neals, Hoopers and Wahabs were reported to be "half Indian and half English".
. The isolated geography of Hatteras Island served to discourage a lot of movement to the island after the initial land grants were awarded and free/cheap land was no longer available.
. The isolated geography prevented or discouraged intermarriage with people not island residents, creating a rather closed community, allowing us the unique opportunity to reconstruct the original island residents from their descendants today.
I have compiled a list of early island surnames from deeds, wills, tax lists, militia and other documents. These surnames represent the early island residents up through about 1800. We would like to be able to reconstruct the ethnicity of the earliest island families, especially the wives whose surnames have been lost to time. Using DNA, we will be able to reconstruct those families and help people who cannot identify their ancestors' families to reconnect.
