Looking for information about Joseph C. Clark on 1870 Census, San Luis Obispo Co., CA. listed as a Whaler. He is in the family of John White, whaler also of the Western Isles. Joseph is listed as worth $ 1600; of foreign born parents and unable to read or write (I assume English as he seems to have been born in the Azores and probably was Portuguese). In 1880 census, he is in same county in San Simeon Township, staying at a hotel as a "mariner". Great Register of county shows a Joseph Clark in 1871, 1882, 1888, 1890 but not after that.

Hello Clark Families! My name is Michele and let me start off by saying I am not related to the Clark families in any way. I have a hobby of purchasing old photos and vintage "papers" that used to belong to different families and then try to locate "kin" to send them home again.
Well this time I have come across something that I don't even know what it is. It's a card about the size of an index card. These were probably something that was used before my time. So bare with me.
The top of the card says KCG 3757. There is a b&w cartoon-type drawing of a bird and a butterfly. It says UNIT 216 and UNIT 217. Also under the "Jaybird" it says Texas Jay Bird Lonestar 3001. Under the butterfly it says Lay Butterfly Lonestar 2503. IN the middle is a hand drawn "Flower"? with "P" on one petal, "D" on another, "2" on another, and "L" on the last. It has two lines drawn the left side where in the corner is a hand drawn "radio"? It has 6:40 on it's window and the word ROYCE on it. In the bottom right hand corner it says :
"JAY & NANCY CLARK
P.O. BOX 16985
LUBBOCK, TEXAS 79490
On the back is hand written: Pass on 3 + 8 Jay
I have NO idea what this might be but I thought it might be interesting for someone who might be related. I do not sell the items I find. I give them away to the family that is related. So if you think you might be or would just like to see the card, please send your request to: frozenglue(a)yahoo.com
As soon as I post this I will be unsubscribing to the Clark family group.
Thanks so much and I hope someone out there knows something about this!

I'm looking for information for the following family:
William Clark, b. January 24, 1792 in Washington Co., NY, died November 18, 1871 in Chautauqua Co., NY.
Parents: William Clark (dates unknown) and Janett (b. 1762 in Galway, Scotland, died July 07, 1848 in Chautauqua Co., NY)
Married: Anne Martin, b. 1798 in Windham Co., CT and died November 22, 1862 in Chautauqua Co., NY.
I am trying to research various Clark families that passed through Washington county just after the Revolutionary War to about 1818. My line of Clark's lived in the Kingsbury/Hartford areas of Washington county in 1800-1810 according to census records. William and his wife and mother are buried in the same cemetery (Levant) as one of my Clark's, (Oramel/Ormel Clark) It may be a coincidence, but I'm checking anyway.

I am searching for my G(3)Grandparents, John & Sarah Butler Clark. The earliest I can identify them is the issuance of a marriage license in Allen County, Indiana on 3 Nov 1838.
I believe they were from Ohio, and "family lore" has them married in Sandusky Co., Ohio.
Does anyone out there have any info on them?
They were both born about 1818. They had a child born in Ohio, one in Henry Co, Iowa, one in JoDaviess, Co, Illinois and 2 in Sibley Co, Minnesota. He died there in 1857.
