1880 Madison Cty Ala
197214 Clark, Winie, 55, Ala/Tenn/Tenn
Amanda 18, dau, Ala/Ala/Ala
the 1870 Madison cenus is very faded and almost impossible to read. It looks like Winny 42, George 17 and a 7 year old female are living next door to an Upton family that includes James and Jane.
There are some probate records for a George W Maples listed as being available in Madison County. It might be worth your while to look for them.
I found this: Manuel Clarke married Winney H Maples May 19, 1849 in Madison County.

Message Board Post:
I am searching for the father of my great grandfather Joseph F. Clark. Joseph was born in 1862 in Texas. All subsequent census records list both of his parents as being born in England.
His father died between 1862 and 1864, presumably in Texas. His mother Mary C. Clark remarried Ezekiel Blanton in Harrison, Tx in 1864. She died about 1870 in Texas or Missouri.
Joseph was raised by Ezekiel Blanton in and around Texas and Howell counties in MO. He married Sarah Ellen Ledsinger in Benton, Howell, MO in 1886.
So far I have not found any immigration records for his father or Mary but I have been told that they immigrated through Texas. There are also two pictures in the family that have "in the vaccinity or Waco TX" printed on the back. One is of a gentleman who could either be Joseph's father or Ezekiel and the other of a young Joseph and his mother.
I would appreciate any help!

I found this Albert Clark in the Cresco Twp, Kossuth Co. 1880 census near his Uncle Christian Hackman married to William G. Clark's sister, Elizabeth. I believe he married my great great grandmother, (El)Dora Curtis in the same area (she was in Algona in the same census). He must have died about 1884 according to my great grandfather's information in that area. Dora is a Clarke in the 1885 census in Kossuth Co. at Lott's Creek with her parents but no husband. I don't know yet if he was buried there or back near his parents.

Is there an error with your dates? If 1825 is the birth year of their first
son, it would have made the mother only 12y old when he was born. No date
for the next John, but the 3rd born in 1833. Dates don't make sense.
Mother would have been only 20y old in 1833.

Hello. I'd just like to offer an FYI.
I have a "concrete-block wall" in the name of James CLARK/E who was born in the 1790 to 1800 timeframe - somewhere !
He "appears" in Rhode Island ~1827 and married in nearby Westport, MA, in 1829. He fathers a child in 1836, and "disappears" during the 1840's.*
I found out last month there was a James CLARK in Montreal or Quebec City around 1824, but I have no way of knowing if it was the same man.
I don't think the CLARK's in N.S. or N.B. are mentioned on the Lists and Boards too often.
Betty (near Lowell, MA)
* He could have been the James CLARK who got on a ship in New Bedford, MA, in 1844 which was heading out to a 4-year voyage to the Indian Ocean. He "deserted" in Australia in 1845. So, my James could have been "a travelin' man."

son of Ebenezer Clark(e) of Yarmouth NS & St John NB.
He worked at the Carleton (NB) Waterworks at one point but emigrated to the US. He was born (probably) between 1810-1820. I found 2 listings in the 1880 US census but don't know which one might be right.
Any information greatly appreciated.
