Hattie Waters born 1860 in Pennsylvania. Waters probably would be her married name. Had at least once child, a daughter whose name was either Cecel, Cecil, Celia, or Cecelia. Daughter married a man named Clark, first name not known. They had two daughters: Eva born in 1906 and Maud (my grandmother) born in 1902, both in New York. Maud married William Hinkley and gave birth to my mother, Eva May Hinkley. Would appreciate any information on the Waters and Clark line. Rumor has it that Maud's father might have been full blooded Native American, but can't verify that. Appreciate the help.

Born, November 1, 1904, to Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Clark a fine boy. J. R. was so excited that we could not learn last week what gave life such a rosy color. But we guess "J. R., Jr." has been giving him if not a piece of his mind at least some evidence of his feelings, and has brought him around.

There is a family tree posted with the children of Jotham Clark and Eunice Rockwood (married 1814 in Medway, MA) including Amy Walker Clark, Louise Elizabeth Bancroft and Israel Putnam Richardson (later, Putnam Richardson Clark) and the submitter has stated that all three children appear to have been adopted.
Does anyone have more information on this family, and can you confirm that all 3 were, in fact, adopted?
I'm related to Israel/Putnam, through his natural parents, Oliver Richardson and Mary Stedman Fairbanks.
It appears that Jotham Clark was a cousin to Oliver Richardson. There are Walkers from that era who are also cousins to Clark/Clarke families, as well.

David A. Clark and I learned that we are exact matches at the 25 marker level DNA testing. For years, I've received notices of matches such as this, but never found so much as one common ancestor, or even someone with my Richardson surname!
Until yesterday.
Dave and I had communicated in the past, as we discovered that we share some Allen ancestors. In the process, I found that he is a descendant of Putnam Richardson Clark, who was adopted by the Clark family in Medway/Millis, MA. Putnam was born Israel Putnam Richardson to Oliver Richardson and Mary Stedman Fairbanks.
Our most recent common ancestors are John Richardson and Esther Breck of Medfield and Sherborn, MA. John's mother was Rebecca Clark, daughter of Joseph Clarke of England. Despite the fact that Putnam Clark was adopted by the Clarks, they were also cousins, and Dave and I do share Clark/Clarke ancestors, as well as Fairbanks, Allen, Stedman, Partridge, Kingsbury and more.
The two families (Richardson and Clark/Clarke) share these common ancestors over a period of nearly 300 years, in and around Medfield, MA. Anyone familiar with "The Richardson Memorial" by John A Vinton will recognize John Richardson of Medfield as one of the major lines that he delineates. That would be John Richardson, who married Rebecca Clark. John's father, also John Richardson, came from England to MA and Wells, Maine.
I'm interested in finding more descendants of Israel Richardson/Putnam Clark. It appears that Putnam and Mary Perrigo had at least 6 children, from 1853 to 1869 in what was then East Medway, now Millis, MA. The name Richardson is used quite often as a middle name, for these Clarks, in recognition of Israel's birth parents, no doubt.
It could be that you're not aware of your Richardson ancestry, if you are one of those descendants.
I'd say the DNA test results confirm what we thought to be true.
Gary Allen Richardson

An Ancestry account is work having. If contact me via direct mail then I will send you the pages:
david_bate(a)yahoo.com
The 71 census indicates that Matthew was away on the night of the census, the text is not too clear, but the person named 'Mrs.' Clark was still married. Perhaps he was working elsewhere at that time. The ages are a little off on the grandmother but that often happens, but Harry's age stays remains constant, giving 1857 as DOB.

So do you think with this information. That Harrys father Matthews may have passed away when or about he was 14 years of age? Since it showed his father Matthews in the last census you sent?
I will be subscribing to Ancestry.com after summer is over. Probably sometime in September. But if you have the census and have the time I would appreciate them.
Thank you
