It's available on Ancestry.com. When you go to the main search page there
should be a tab on the top of the search page for maps. click that then
select the country (United States) in the Country box. Then the state in
the state box which appears and then click the search button. You should
get a list of resources with the # of atlas & maps for the state. Pick the
US County Land Ownership Atlases c. 1864-1918 and select one for the county
you want. This will pull up the book and you can page through the book
until you find what you want. You may have to look at the index for a
township you're interested in and then skip around to find to find what
image # matches the page you want.

For the life of me, I could not find this link either. The best list of

Saw earlier on line and wanted to share. Maybe it will help you with some of your ancestors -
U.S. County Atlases & Landowner Maps 1865-1914
at ancestry.com
These are the kind that are a book of township maps and you can tell where your ancestors' property was. There are lots of maps from a bunch of different states and the maps are searchable. And you can enlarge them on the screen which is really good for my old eyes.
I think they still offer the free trial no credit card thing (not sure).
Here's where I saw the link to the maps:

Was back looking for more of my camera-shy ancestors.

Message Board Post:
Since my message of July '06, I have discovered Isaac Clark was married to a Mary Horsley. They were b. in Greenup Co., KY in the early 1800s. Isaac's father was John Clark b. abt 1760, prob in either Orange or Culpeper, VA. Mary Horsley's parents were James Taylor Horsley and Johanna Dudley, from Culpeper Co., VA. They lived in Greenup County in the early 1800s.
John Clark (and perhaps his wife) apparently died in Greenup Co. in the mid 1820s. I do not know the name of his wife (Isaac's mother) nor the all the names of Isaac's siblings. He had one brother named William and another named John and a sister named Jane who married a Moses Jones and moved to Scioto County, OH in the 1820s.
John Jr. married Sarha Duncan. They move to Lewis Co., KY. He died in the 1820s and she in the 1830s. It is possible that they died of consumption, as did Isaac and Mary (Horsley) Clark and three or four of their children.
Any info about this family would be of extreme value.

Note by Sarah Gaffney:
NC Library when we stopped by there. We could not stay long enough to search any more, but we
found a small note that said John W. Clark was to serve time for "his conduct", and we assumed "his conduct" meant adultery or his treatment of Sarah. If this took place in 1879, maybe he was in jail in some other county I have not checked. Or maybe he just "hid out" for a period of time.

She is married but no husband around. Next door to Marion H. Clark who is likely her stepson.
She evidently divorced her husband for having an affair with Susan Green, who may have been her sister. In 1860, she and Augustus live next door to Alexander Green 48 NC farmer 3K 4K and his wife, Rhoda. They have a daughter named Susan who is 17 (born about 1842-1843), Could it be the Susan he left Sarah for was her sister in law rather than sister?
Notes for SUSAN GREEN:

I am in hope that someday someone may know about my gg-grandfather, James
Clark.
James Clark
b. 1805 or 1809 SC
d. c. 1878 GA
married: Elva, Elvina, Elvira b. 1811 SC d. c. 1866-67 GA
There were 2 female children under 5 listed on the 1830 census. Nothing
else known about these two. I don't know if they were James and Elva's or
children of someone else.
Second marriage:
Mahala Richardson b. 1833 GA
Children of James and Mahala:
James b. 1868 GA d. c. 1888 GA no issue
Susan b. 1869 GA no issue
Ely b. 1872 GA
Ely is my line.
JAMES CLARK
I do not know:
where he was born in SC
who his parents were
who his siblings were
when he came to GA
where he lived before he settled in Marion Co. GA c. 1827-30.
anything about the 2 children in his household on the 1830 census
the surname of Elva
where Elva was born in SC
where James, James jr, Elva or James' mother-in-law, Elizabeth Catherine
Richardson, are buried in Marion Co. GA.
There is nothing in the courthouse in Marion Co. concerning James Clark.
He is only listed as a "first pioneer" of Marion Co. in a Marion Co. history
book. The family of James Clark was in Marion Co. from the time he settled
there c. 1830 to the mid 1890s when Ely, his mother and sister, moved to
Mitchell Co. GA.

Hi! I wouldn't mind corresponding with you on your genealogy. From what I can gather, you think William is the son of Thomas and Rose (Kerrige/Kerrich) Clarke from Westhorpe, Suffolk, England. However, you say he was born in Plymouth, England. I question this as all the other childen were born in Westhorpe or thereabouts. Can you give me your sources or any information that you might have?
The spelling of the name to Clark or Clarke has gone on for centuries.
Look forward to your reply.
Til Later,
Arlene Clarke Haddock
