I have been working on my various family lines and discovered a folder of information on my Grandfather Clark.
He was born in IL but his line goes back to Clarksburg MA, Cumberland MD and England
Most of the material was gathered around 1977 and some was earlier when a descendant was assembling a DAR application from Samuel Clark.

Hello,
I haven't posted about my grandmother, nee' Daisy WATROUS, adopted name,
Mary Anna Clark DEXTER, in a while. It's a very long story which I've
told before (see archives). For this morning, I'd just like to mention
one part of the story.
In 1911 when my grandmother married in Malden, MA, she listed her adoptive
parents as John and Mary (CLARK) DEXTER, but she listed her birth-father
as -- William CLARK. (From memory, I think she didn't mention a
birth-mother.)
We have no idea who this William CLARK is.
The background is that that Mrs. Mary DEXTER grew up in Westport, MA, with
parents, James CLARK and Mrs. Rhoda (MANCHESTER) LAVARE. James
"disappeared" around 1845, abandoning his wife and 10-year-old daughter
(and step-children).
James is one of my "concrete-block walls" and I know nothing about him.
And, because of that, I do not know about his family or his -- uncles,
aunts, and cousins, etc. So, I don't know if he was directly related
to -- William CLARK.
I just have a "suspicion" that Mrs. Mary DEXTER knew her CLARK relatives and
might have visited with them.
John DEXTER had grown up in Killingly, CT, and most of his family was there,
and that is where he and his wife lived after they married in 1850's.
It was around 1885 they left Killingly and moved to Melrose, MA. In 1892,
as an older couple, they adopted a 3-year-old girl -- my grandmother.
But, my grandmother was re-orphaned at Age 10 when Mrs. DEXTER died.
Betty (near Lowell, MA)
P.S. My grandmother lived in "homes" from Age 10 to Age 20, all in
Downtown Boston. Both she, my mother, and myself -- have searched and
there is "NO" birth certificate - anywhere - for her ! My "suspicion"
is that John DEXTER made the 2 birth certificates for his adopted
daughter - disappear !
(I believe that the little girl was his granddaughter - perhaps a child of
an unwanted pregnancy of his married daughter in CT. Only my "vivid
imagination" can come up with "who" might have been the birth-father.)
(Perhaps my grandmother found out "who" fathered her, and she either
forgot - or chose not to tell her children !) (Perhaps William CLARK?)

Hello, Bill. I just checked this website for my divorce in 1987 and it is not listed, so this is not complete. I was divorced Oct. 14, 1987 and I'm not sure of the county because my ex-husband took care of all that and he was living in Longview, Texas at the time.
Thank you. Anne Godfrey

(I'm searching for the parents )of my 3rd Great Grandparents - Thomas Clark and Sarah Unknown)
Descendants of Thomas Clark (My 3rd Great Grandfather)***
Thomas Clark was born about 1800 in NC, and married Sarah Unknown (My 3rd great grandparents)
who was born about 1800 in KY. Thomas died before 1860 in Independence Co., AR.
Notes for Thomas Clark:
It is believed that Thomas was b. in NC and moved to Kentucky at an early age. He moved from KY.,
to Lawrence Co. AL abt 1820. Then moved to Lincoln Co. TN bef 1823. He moved to Independence Co. ,
Arkansas abt 1840.
Some suggest that Thomas descends from the Clark family that was in Albemarle Co. VA in the 1700's.
Family members of Henry "Peck" Clark remember family lore that four brothers and one cousin came
to Independence Co., Arkansas abt 1840. Four of the five settled south of White river and one settled
north of the river. Records support this pattern but it is not known which one was the cousin.
Notes for Sarah:
She is listed in 1850 Census in Independence Co. AR. She was not found in 1860.
Children:
