I am searching for the family of a soldier who was killed in the Korea War. When he entered service he gave Davidson County, Tennessee as his home of record. His remains were never recovered.
Soldier: MEACHEM WAYNE CLARK
Born: July 24, 1926, Caucasian
Date of loss: July 20, 1950, MIA
When the Korean War ended the enemy never returned or accounted for over 8,000 of our servicemen. They died in their hands. That was over 50 years ago. Since that time DNA has been perfected and also they are recovering remains in North Korea. Our government is obligated to return those remains to the proper family. DNA samples have been obtained from most of the families of these missing soldiers. For various reasons some families have not been located. The Ckark family is one of those missing.
When the remains are recovered and identified they will be returned to the family for proper burial. I am just an old (76 years) Combat Veteran out of the Korean War and thankful that I did return. I consider this a very noble cause and I hope that you can help in some way to find this family. For more information on the project you may go to http://www.jpac.pacom.mil/. My part in the program is to match up the lost families with the proper agency.
I will be grateful for any assistance in locating this family.

That sounds close. My James' wife died here in Sumner Co, in 1878, near Bransford, Tn. Her name was Mary Ann Wray. I will check on this, and see if there could be a connection. Linda

My Clark's were from VA then Smith Co., TN. My Henry B. Clark's parets were
supposedly Richard Clark and Mary Simmons. They had 7 sons. Their youngest
was Joel Simmons Clark. I don't know the other 6 or if my Henry was one of
them. Per the Biographical Souvenier of Texas, Richard went to Fannin Co
Texas and stayed 1 year, then went somewhere in Arkansas where he died in
1851. My Morris Brown Clark (son of Henry) also migrated to Fannin Co Texas
with all of his children and son in law. Could they be from the same family?
I do know that the Anderson/Clark union (possibly Richard's sister) ended up
in Sumner Co TN.

Hello,
For several reasons, I haven't done any research in 6 months, but did a
look-up for someone this morning. When I looked in my "History of
Cambridge," * I accidentally came across a secton on CLARK.
There are almost 2 pages, so I will just offer the first paragraphy:
"Dr. A. P. Clarke
Clarke, Dr. AugustusP., who was one of the leading physicians of the
University City, was born in Pawtucket, R.I., September 24, 1833, being the
son of Seth Darling and Fanny (Peck) Clarke, both lineal descendants of the
earlies Puritans who were among the most influential settlers of Plymouth,
Boston, Dorchester, Hingham, Roxbury, Denham and Mendon in Massachusetts,
and Providence, Newport, Portsmouth and Warchick, in Rhode Island. He
was father of the eighth generation in descent from Joseph Clarke, who with,
who with his wife, Alice, came with the settlers comprising the first
Dorchester company, that embarked at Plymouth, England, March 20, 1630, in
the ship, Mary and John. He was the ancestor of the late eminent
Professor, Edward H. Clarke of the Harvard Medical School. .........."
There is also a section on:
"Edward E. Clark
Clark, Edward E., was born in Cambridge, Mass., November 4, 1870. He was
the son of Martin, V. B., and Sarah M. (Rollins) Clark, both native of New
Hampshire. ........."
That's all I can offer today. I hope this helps someone.
Betty (near Lowell, MA)
*
"A History of Cambridge, Masssachusdetts (1630-1913) by Samuel Atkins
Eliot, together with biographies of Cambridge people," Cambridge 1913.
There are 2 other "histories" that I know of, the one which is better is
the one by Paige - so I'm told.

Is anyone related to a Theresa Clark (also know as
'Tessie')who married Joseph W. Duffy in New Jersey?
They had one child together; Francis H. Duffy, born in 1900. They lived in Newark during the 1900 census. By 1910, I believe Theresa was deceased.
Sound familiar to anyone? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
How much does it cost for a years subscription to Ancestry?? I want to be
able to look things up, but have been afraid of the cost. I could spend my
Christmas money on this for a change. At least I'd have something to show for it,
huh?
