Hello Fellow Listers.
I am having a dilemma.
1850 found Margaret Hunt in Saratoga County, NY age 16 born in Columbia Co,
NY living with a family. She was born 1833.
1855 found Margaret Hunt living in Saratoga County, NY with Hiram CLARK and
wife Betsey born in Columbia Co. and two children, Orrin Clark and William
Clark and a girl, Harriet E/C HUNT age 3. It is stated that Margaret Hunt
is a daughter. I cannot remember where CLARK was born
1860 Margaret is married to DEVOE of Saratoga Co, NY and Harriet is living
with the CLARKS.
I am not sure if Margaret was a CLARK and married HUNT or HUNT and had a
child. Not that it matters, but I have been looking for her father HUNT for
years and maybe I should be looking for CLARK family instead.
Can anyone help me?
Thank you
Sharon
Is Jemima Clark the wife of Benjamin Dumas, Jr. in Louisa Co., Va.?
Thanks,
John Philip Adams

Hi all, Here's more information. Hope I'm not a nusiance but I hope to
connect with others researching these Clarke lines. Remember that old Anson
contained some of modern SC.
1. Anson County, NC Deed Abstracts, Volume I: 1749 - 1757
The earliest Clark seems to be John Clark, he sells land to and brings in
Benjamin Dumas of Louisa County, VA, which is the county in VA which is the
origin of some, if not most or all, of these Clarks also.
From the Index of this book:
Benjamin Clark
Christopher Clark
Francis Clark
Isaac Clark
John Clark
Joseph Clark
John Clark was by far the most active land buyer and seller.
2. Anson County, NC, Deed Abstracts , Volume II: 1757 - 1766, plus the
1763 tax list.
Land features were, Clarks Mill Creek, Clarks Creek, Clarks River
From the Index:
Benjamin Clark
Christopher Clark
Elijah Clark
Ely S. Clark
Francis Clark
Isaac Clark
Jeremiah Clark
John Clark (very active but Francis more active.)
Joseph Clark
Martha Clark
Thomas Clark
William Clark
And all these guys by 1766.
I have a Wallace line who used the name Clark which they passed on to a
Wright line who lived in Biscoe, NC by the 1900s. These Wallaces were in Anson
also but came from Augusta Co., VA in the wake of Braddocks defeat about 1754.
The Benjamin Dumas family of Louisa County, VA lived adjacent to John Clark,
and had a daughter to marry Edmund Lilly, this in Anson County, NC.
Christopher and Benjamin Clark lived on the county line between Albemarle county, VA and
Louisa Co., VA according to the, Cavaliers and Pioneers. Bolling Clark lived
there also. Anyone working these lines?
Iam (hard at it)
I am looking for parents of DAVID Clark, born Aug. 31, 1815, resided 1850,
1860 census Anson. Children of David are Laura, Emily, George, Clara J.,
John H., David Elmer, Martha E., Henrietta Ellen, Alabama M., Josephine
Cordelia, Owen H.
Any connection?
