Hello to All, I had a pleasant surprise from Nancy D. Jones last month that she had information that possibly tied my Delilah Clark Petty who was born on January 15, 1819 in Hillsbourough, Orange or Chatham co. NC. and married John Petty in Chatham co. NC. on June 13, 1834 to Vatchel and Olive Clark of Orange and Chatham county through possibly their son William Clark. Vatchel Clark was born around 1725 in England possibly Scotland and married Olive maiden name unknown. They had other children besides William Clark who was born around 1770 in Orange co. NC. and married Rebecca Pearson who was born in Orange co. NC. around 1776. Nancy stressed there could be mistakes in this information. One of William Clarks brothers was Silas Clark who married a Henderson. Another brother was John Clark. I would like to hear from anyone who has information on this Clark family and the other Clark families in the Orange, Chatham and Randolph co. area of North Carolina. Any information on the!
Petty families of this area I would like to hear from also. Thank you. Duane McKenzie. mailto:dmckenze@hutchtel.net

I am interested in the ancestry of Dr. Abraham A. Clark, born 1789 probably in VA, died 1850, Raymond, Hinds Co., MS. His wife, Nancy, was born 1793 in GA. He first appears of record in Monroe Co., AL in 1817. In 1820 he was enumerated in Conecuh Co., AL and served as the postmaster of Belleville, AL in 1823.
Sometime in the early 1830s he removed with his family to Raymond, Hinds Co., MS. There he owned a home in town, as well as a store. He was called "Doctor" and in 1840 it was stated that he was of a "learned profession or engineer." This indicates that he was likely college educated.
After his death in 1850, his family settled into a neighborhood of Hinds County populated by families from the Old Dominion. Among these were the Dabney, Birdsong, Chappell, Wyche and others. His daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Clark, married as her second husband, Anselm Lynch, who may have been a kinsman. He was a native of Virginia and a descendent of Christopher Clark and Penelope Johnson.
Any help great appreciated.
