Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Looking for information on Philetus Clark who resided
in Western New York (Onondaga Co.) in the 1850 census.
The census showed a number of Davis family members
residing with him. What is the connection?
Any help appreciated.

If anyone has a Utica phone book I would appreciate a copy of the page with
the name of Clark on it.

Hello,
I am looking for information on parents of John Howard Clark. I am also
interested in any siblings. John was born Sept. 1913, and died July 1969. He
married Edith Allen in Pennsylvania,1938.
Thank you,
Tricia
Hello,
I'm new to the list, and this is my first post. I'm looking for information
on my gr gr grandmother, Rebecca Clark, and gr gr grandfather, John Smith.
They were to have gotten married in Washington Co., VA, but I have found no
record of them yet. I have found an entry for my gr grandmother, their
daughter Alice, and my gr grandfather, James Donelone. They were married in
Wise Co., VA in 1907. The problem with that entry is that everything fits,
except that they have her listed as Alice Clark, and her parents and Rebecca
Clark and John Clark. I know that my gr grandfather was from Italy and didn't
speak very good English, so he could have been giving the clerk the
information wrong, or he may have been the one filling out the paperwork.
Does anyone happen to have Clarks from that area, or have these folks listed
in any of their family trees? Any help would be greatly apreciated. I was so
excited about finding the record of my gr grandparents. I know they couldn't
have been beamed down from space or something! My last name is Donelow, and
I kept hearing that my gr. grandfathers' original last name was something
like Donelon, but no one knew what., so this cleared up that mistery. But his
three brothers that he came over with also changed their last names. Is this
common? Have anyone on this list come across the same thing? I have not been
able to find him, or his brothers on any of the ships lists, and at least one
of his brothers was supposed to have gone west, and changed his name to
something like Donetti, or Donateli or something like that. I wish they would
have just kept what they had! I hope I can find a link from my Clarks to all
of you, then I will have found some new cousins. I hope everyone has a great
rest of the weekend, and I look forward to reading more from you all.
Marilynn,
Do you have any dates for Michael Clark that might help narrow this down?
Fay Clark

The first of the family that I have info on is Michael Clark who came from Ireland with wife Mary Loftus from Co. Mayo Ireland.

This is NOT a virus. It is a hoax. It is the Microsoft Debugger Registrar for Java. Not a good idea to delete.

Hello,
I'd like to repost my interest in learning anything at all about a couple ..
James and Lavair (?) CLARK .. which probably lived in Westport, MA, from
about 1830 to about 1850.
James and Lavair had a daughter, Mary Ann Clark, born in Westport in 1837.
But, around 1850, Mary, Age 13, was living with Rhoda Clark in Westport ..
and there was no mention of James and Lavair.
(Westport is a suburb of Fall River, MA, and very close to the RI border.)
On my grandmother's marriage certificate in 1911 in Malden, MA, she listed
her father as William Clark .. I'll summarize her birth story in a
minute .. but I tend to think William was an uncle ....
Does anyone have a James CLARK (and wife, Lavair ____) marrying around 1830
in MA, RI, or CT ... ?
FYI: My grandmother was born in MA in Feb. 1889 and was a "foundling" on
the streets of Boston. At the hospital in Boston she was given the name,
Daisy WATROUS. In Mar. 1892, John and Mary DEXTER adopted her. They
changed the baby's name to Mary Anna Clark DEXTER. Mrs. Mary Dexter was
the former Mary Anna CLARK (b1837 MA).
In Apr. 1899, Mrs. Dexter died. Probably later that year, Mr. Dexter sold
their house in Melrose, MA, and left the area .. We have no idea where he
went ... I found out this summer that this couple was probably living in
John Dexter's hometown of Killingly, CT, until the late 1880's ... and that
is where Mary Dexter was buried. I still don't know where John was
buried.
Probably in 1899, my grandmother was taken to "The Temporary Home" on
Tremont Street in Boston, and she remained living there until around Age 18
(from Age 11).
I have had her Adoption Records opened in Cambridge, MA, and it is my
opinion (based on many things) .. that John and Mary Dexter were her
maternal .. grandparents ... I still know ... no more .. about a possible
son and daughter of John and Mary. But, the daughter seems to have been
an unwed mother .. and she died within a year of childbirth.
If my assumptions are correct, then James and Lavair CLARK would have been
the great-grandparents of my grandmother ... and thus .. my ancestors ..
My maternal grandmother's birth-parents would have been .. Miss _____ DEXTER
.. and Mr. ______ WATROUS .. both probably born around 1870 in MA, RI, or
CT ...
Thank you for your time.
Betty (near Lowell, MA)
P.S. Another assumption I am making is that James and Lavair Clark had
both died before the 1850? Census was taken ...
Hello! I'm new to the list. I'm looking for anyone who might have information about John Clark (b May 7, 1812 in Herkimer County, NY; d Dec 31, 1887 in Delta, NY.) and/or his parents/siblings. I've been able to trace my geneology back to John and his wife, Mary Cornelia Lince (1820-1879). Both are buried in Evergreen Cemetery in the Town of Lee, Oneida County, NY.
Thanks!
PJ
. .
New to the list. Looking for anyone researching this Clark family of N.J.
Have Charlotte Clark/Clarke born 1-14-1785 in N.J. Married William P. Pullen
(b. 1-11-1785), Monmouth Co., N.J.
Elizabeth Hall born 1865 probably Letcher Co KY, md J M Clark, this is all
we know about this couple
Would any of you good folks have a J M Clark in your file?????
Elizabeth was D/O Andrew J and Eleva "Levy" Stepp Hall
Barb in OK
