I came across a Charles Columbus Clark in asking my grandfather about his family. He told me that Charles was his grandfather and he was born in 1860 in Stockton, CA. He ran away from home in 1875 to be a cowboy in Texas, as it was popular to do at that time and ended up on a ranch owned possibly by the name of Fallis. He was there at the time his wife was born in 1880, her name was Lydia May (Mae?) Fallis, and he married her in 1896. They, in turn moved to Gainsville, TX and finally homesteaded in Tombstone, AZ. They had atleast two boys, one being named Samuel Robert, who is my great grandfather. Any information would be helpful. Thanks.

My most problematic dead end comes, of course, in the line from which I get my last name...the Clarks.
Family notes (source unknown) have James Francis Clark living from 1837 to 1878. He was married to Olive Almea Rendals/Reynolds.
US Census for 1880 in Shelby Co MO has Olive there has head of household with four children (John, Orland, James & Ida). That supports her husband's passing prior to 1880. The census shows her birthplace as Michigan but, for the kids, it shows mother's birthplace as Canada and father's as Michigan. My guess is that was transposed and James Clark was the one originally from Canada.
Marriage license for son James (circa. 1910) lists his father's name as "James W. Clark" contrary to the notes I have which indicate it was "James F. Clark." The young James had a middle name of William and never actually knew his father - maybe he just assumed it was James W.
As you can see, I have a whole lot of nothing. At this point, my interest is any leads for a James F. or James W. Clark that may have migrated from Canada to Missouri with his Michigan-born wife Olive and four kids.
Thank you.

Glad to see your reply! But not sure of a connection because this person's e-mail doesn't doesn't go through, and searching for any connection to the Lewis and Lucinda Clark, and she mentioned a Mr and Mrs Lewis Clark in her posting in July 2000. You never know so if I can give you anything to go on let me know. Do you know any of this Nellie's sisters? (I'm hoping that is a nick name for Matilda) The ones I have are Matilda, Martha, Nancy Elizabeth(gggrmother) and Rose. Brothers-John, Charley, and George. The only dates I have are for Nancy so it makes it hard to find anyone. Thanks again- E-mail me!
