It may very well be, Harry, but the Michigan census in which I found Rowland's name indicates birth in NY, 1794. Quite a coincidence, though. Maybe there was a well-known novel in 1790's with the first name Rowland? Or maybe a public figure? Does any of our great historians on this board know the answer to that?
Bill

Hello,
I recently had someone do a lookup for me for my gggrandfather, David Fenton Clark. She was able to provide me with information on the Clark family from Braintree, Orange, VT with Charles A. Clark as head of the household, Chloe as his wife, Charles L., David F., Rasaltha, Orlando B. & Edward B. I think I'm on the right track because I did a search for Charles A. Clark with his wife Chloe's given name on www.familysearch.com and found a Charles married to a Chloe in Braintree, VT in 1837, 2 years before my gggrandfather was born. I am finding quite a bit more on Chloe's side of the family (Flint) but nothing further on Charles.
If anyone sees a connection to any of their Clarks please let me know. Thanks.
Ken Webb, Edmonds, WA

Hi Martha,
Yes, Robert Dandridge Clarke was indeed my grandfather, we have several birth dates for him, and he was born c. 1834-6. I have his bible for his second family where he recorded my father’s name. My dad is the very last of all his children being born in 1908 when my grandfather was in his seventies. My grandmother was much younger then he. She was twenty years old and he was in his fifties when they married and I also have the original newspaper article announcing their marriage, and we also have letters he wrote to her and her wedding dress is now in a museum in Oklahoma for wedding dresses and dresses of the 1800's. His first wife’s name was Laura Morgan and his second wife’s name was Charlotte (Lottie) Belle Watkins. I am 50 years old. My dad was nearly 40 when he started his family. John Burton Clarke was a half brother to my dad Wilfred Luke Watkins Clarke. Tell me more about your grandfather. It sounds like we may be cousins. If we are I w!
ill shout for joy!!!!!! Grandpa lived in new Kent County and is buried on the old farm now owned by Mary Fisher Bryant, whose grandfather bought the old farm for granddad. I sure wish the family owned the farm it is indeed beautiful. My mom and Dad and sister and I cleared His grave as it was now longer marked and old Arthur Christian who had been born as one of grandfathers slaves and who helped to did his grave showed us where he was buried along with Laura and several of the children who died as children or infants. Mr. Fisher ran pig farms and the pigs were rutting around on the graves so we put a fence around it to keep them out. We also got a veterans head stone to mark his grave so if ever any others ever decided to visit his grave then they could find it. Old "uncle "Arthur died in the later 1960's If not for him and our family now one would know where they all were buried. Oh please tell me we are cousins, tell me anything you know.
Most sincerely,
Deborah Clarke -Waddell

Hi tell me about it. I was going nowhere fast until a lady, unknown to me,was also researching the same Thomas Clark as I was. She saw that my Thomas Clark I thought was father to my James Clark, and she emailed me that she had found out that Thomas Clark and his wife unknown not only was father to my great grandfather James Clark who m. Elizabeth Ladd, but also to six other siblings. She gave me all the names of Thomas Clark's children, and the spouses, and some of the children's children. She was related through one of Thomas Clarki's daughters, Mary Polly Clark who married a Thomas Foley. So keep on trying, someone is going to be looking for the same names and they will see your posting. Good luck. Bye.

I am descended from: ggrandparents Elijah and Mary Clark to grandparents Jacob O. Clark b. 2/26/1894 and Ora Godsey Clark b.? to parents James C. Clark b. 12/1919 and Dora Marie Davis Clark. My Clarks lived in Missouri and southeastern Indiana. I have not been able to locate any of them but I do have a death certificate for my grandfather, Jacob O. Clark and it gives me my ggrandparents' names. Boy, this Clark line is soooo hard to trace.

I am interested in your Clark(e) line. I have my line researched back to Virginia (1730) in Henrico or New Kent. My ggggggrandfather was John Clarke m. to Elizabeth Ellis. Are you in that line. Perhaps my John is related to your Robert. He was born around 1730, married in 1755 and died in 1798 in Shelby Co. KY. They had about 11 children; 8 are confirmed. Then in 1825 my Benjamin Ellis Clarke married Martha Dodson Kelly and they had12 children. The Clark Dodson name caught my eye; although I know there were many Clark (e) lines in Kentucky in 1800's. Any information will be appreciated. sb
