I recently was told by a great uncle that William's name is William Jessee Clark. He was from Virginia and he had about 5 brothers. They had a falling out over the civil war, and some brothers fought for the North while others fought for the South. The day the war ended, William Jessee was in Tishomingo County, Mississippi. He immediately got out of his blue uniform and went and got a Mississippi girl whom he was in love with to marry him. Her name was Susan. I am unable to locate a marriage record for him so far. Still looking for that.

Thank you very much for the reply. I don't think we have a connection. Several days ago I made it to Madison, WI and did a little searching. It is amazing what you can find on some marriage certificates. John B. Clark's parents were Harmon W. Clark (born 1828)and Martha Briggs (b. 1834). I also discovered that John had a number of siblings - Kate M (married William Wilkinson), Olive Jane (married Eugene Palmer), Frank W. (married Lucinda Strong), Carrie Frances (married John Enner), Viola May (married John James Rockwell). If anyone else has information or wants to share I would be happy to do so.

This may be a blind lead, but I have information about a John W. Clark (b. 11/5/1844) married to Sarah L. Boyd on Nov. 8, 1868. They lived near Fennimore, WI. I have no information about their children, but the dates seemed about right to be the possible parents to your John B. Clark of Patch Grove. However, my data does not point to New York.
