I am looking for James A Clark born around 1805 in either North Carolina or Virginia. Married Catherine Gaver in Perry County Ohio in 1839. Could they be in some way related?
I cannot find who my James Clark's father was. His mother's first name was Permelia. Could they be related?

Hi
Can you give me any leads on how you researched the Clark name. My dead end was James A Clark, b around 1805 married Catherine Gaver in Perry County Ohio. He was supposed to come from North Carolina or Virginia (possibly the part that became W VA). There the trail ends. Any suggestions. I found that his mother lived with him and her name was Permelia A (don't know her maiden name).
I appreciate any ideas you have

I know these aren't the same people and the wrong dates, but I have looked for the father of my ggg grandfather James A Clark who moved to Ohio from either Virginia or North Carolina, and whose mother's name was Permelia A ______
for soooooo long. Clark is such a hard name to research, it is so common. James A's wife was Catherine Gaver. He was born about 1805. No reply is necessary unless you have info or just want to commiserate on trying to research the Clark line(s) of our families.

I have BRUESKE and REINKE surnames in my family tree. My MERTES AND SCHNEIDER in my family tree come to Fond du lac, WI in 1848. One of their desendants moved on to MN then to ND. This is where in the early 1900's their desendants married BRUESKE and REINKE.
Could this be part of you family tree?

I believe one of my ancestors in James Clark who was living in Westport, MA, in the 1830's. He and his (?) wife had a daughter born there in 1837.
I was wondering if anyone had a James Clark in their records from any of the New England states ... who would have lived from about 1800 to about 1850.
(Westport, MA, is near both Fall River and New Bedford, MA, and is not far from either the RI or CT border.)
(Their daughter, Mary Anna Clark, married John Dexter, who was born in Killingly, CT, in 1837.)

I am searching for any information at all about a CLARK family which was living in Westport, MA, in the 1830's. The husband's name was James Clark. The only child I know about is Mary Anna Clark, born there in 1837.
As Mrs. John Dexter, she passed away in the spring of 1899 in Melrose, MA. On the Death Certificate, her parents were listed as: "James Clark" and "Lavair." ... I had made the assumption that Lavair was the given name, and thus the wife's name was Mrs. Lavair Clark. ... But, I've never seen this given name before. .... This morning I did a search at www.google.com and discovered that LAVAIR is a surname. So, now I am wondering if I should be looking for a CLARK / LAVAIR marriage around 1800 to 1810 in New England.
In the 1850 Census, the only Clark's mentioned were: Mary Anna Clark and Rhoda Clark ... so a guess is that Mr. & Mrs. James Clark ... died during the 1840's.

Hi All,
My grandmother, Louisa Rose, married Thomas Clark b. ~1884, on 11 Apr 1909 at St. Mark Parish Church, Victoria Park, Essex (near to West Ham).
Thomas was a labourer and the son of William Thomas Clark also a labourer.
Unfortunately, Thomas didn't live long after his marriage and died of sarcoma of the lung on 17 Dec 1909. Louisa went on to remarry twice but the family never knew of her first husband, Thomas.
I have not yet researched the Clark family in any depth but I am interested to find out more about Thomas and see whether he appears in any of your researches.
Best Wishes
Andy

Hello everyone,
I am searching for the family of my ggggrandmother Johanna or Joanna Clark. Somewhere along the line, John was picked as her father's name but have not been able to prove or disprove this at this point.
She was born about 1808 in Pennsylvania and married 26 Nov 1829 in Perry County, Ohio [Marriages - Perry County, Ohio 1818-1878 Book Us/Can 977.159 V25s] to John Sales although the record has his name listed as John Saler.
John and Joanna are listed on the 1830 census for Pike Township, Perry County, Ohio
In 1838, John and Joanna appear on a deed transferring land inherited from John's father to John's brother Jacob and Catherine Allen Sales. This same tract of land was later sold by Jacob to Alexander Burgoon.
In 1840 they are listed in Bearfield Township, Perry County, Ohio. with three sons and two daughters.
In 1850 they are listed in the Oxford Township, Delaware County, Ohio census.
1860 - Ashley, Oxford Township, Delaware County, Ohio
1870 - Linn Grove, Hartford Township, Adams County, Indiana
John Sales was born in Huntingdon County, PA as were all of his siblings. They moved from there to Perry County, Ohio sometime between 1816 and 1820 as they first appear on the 1820 census there.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thank you,
Nancy
