Salley,
This John is a little late for the Barbados immigrations, they generally
took place circa 1670. Have you examined all the clark(e) / Clerke court
records, wills, etc. for Henrico at that time? Also check the personal
property tax records for all of the above in the county. Many times the tax
collector added male children's names as they came of age (16) onto their
father's tax roll. Since you know his birthdate just move up 15 or so years
and start searching for a Clark (etc.) who started paying for an added
family member.
Have you checked the Parish registers in and around Henrico? St. John's
Parish of Henrico has a register from 1730 to 1887. FHC has a film of that.
Also check New Kent, Hanover, Goochland and vicinity counties, could have
been born anywhere there-abouts. Also check the court records for Amherst
... maybe there was a fuss over a will or property within his family. Since
he died at age 65, his dad probably died about 20 years prior ... most
likely in Amherst County. Look for a will, court stuff, etc.
Wish I could be of more help.
A fellow searcher,
Dick Clark

Hi Georgia,
The name Meeks caught my eye because I remember reading about a Meeks
murder in Sullivan County, MO. Is this the same murder?? I have a
Clark line that originated in Tuscarawas County, Ohio and I am checking
to see if they moved on the Sullivan County, MO. Of course it is so
hard sorting out all the Clarks and trying to figure out which families
belong together.

Hi Jerry
Just where were your Mary and Hannah Clark located?I know you said you have
no dates for them but i have a Mary and Hannah Clark located in Ind. I have
no idea who Hannah married. They would have married after 1859 as they were
teenagers at that time.
Lois in CA.
I intended to post this message last week, but can't remember if I did post
to this list or not (I post to so many!) If this is a repeat, I'm sorry!
I am looking for an ALBERT NEWELL CLARK. He married MAMIE COLLOPY in
September of 1883 in Portland, Oregon. They had three children, FRANK
NEWELL CLARK - 1884, EARL ALBERT CLARK -1886, and a daughter, NOAN (CLARK)
UPSHAW -1888. Albert divorced Mamie in 1900 in Portland, Oregon. The 1920
census shows FRANK Newell Clark listing his father, Albert, being born in
California, and his mother, Mamie Collopy, in Kentucky. I have no other
information; just the marriage of Albert and Mamie, and the divorce
1900...nothing before or after!
Any information out there on this family?? Thanks so much!
Leah

One of my John Clarks is my great grandfather, John Enious Clark. He was born
1850 in Collins, Erie, NY, died 1926 in Chokio, Stevens, MN.
Perhaps some of you may be able to link to him. You can access his data from my
web site or the URL below. It is a little long, so cut and paste may be needed
for some.
http://worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=rckl...
I have John, his parents and two older siblings from the Collins, Erie, NY
census of 1850. Also two younger siblings from his obituary. Plus a Sara Fuller
who was in the household. Likely a relative of his mother, Caroline D. Fuller.
This is my dead end except that we have quite a few of his descendants.
I have linked his father to another family but explain that I have no proof of
this. It is sheer speculation but too good a possibility not to follow up. A few
years have gone by and I haven't been able to prove it. Now I am doubtful that
it is correct even though I have not been able to prove otherwise.
Any help would be much appreciated.
And, I hope this may help others.
Best wishes to everyone on the list.

Who were the parents of John CLARKE??
John CLARK:
Born 27 February 1764 in Henrico County, Virginia; was living in Amherst
County, Virginia when enlisted in the Continental Army during the
Revolutionary War.
Moved to Kentucky, where he married Ann Whitten in Lincoln County on 19
May 1791. Died on 25 January 1839.
His known children were:
1- Eliza Clarke
2- James Clarke, b. 26 September 1797, Lincoln County, Kentucky
3- David Clarke, b. 28 September 1799, Washingotn County, Kentucky
4- Sally Clarke
I have searched the internet, his military pension records, old
microfilmed land patent records at the Family History Center, genealogy
magazines, CD's, etc. and I am just about desperate enough to hire a
professional genealogist. Someone suggested to me that I should check
Barbados, because alot of people emigrated to Virginia from Brittain through
Barbados. That's my next step.
Open to all suggestions and info!

Subject: [CLARK] Clark(e)'s In Indiana
Does anyone have a Absalom ( Absolom) in their line of ancestral 's that
lived in Washington Co., Indiana in 1820 that was about 21 yrs of age,
possbile that could had a child born in Oct 1820/22 and name William Clark?
According to the pattern the way the children were named, could be possible
that Absalom is the father or an uncle to my William Clark. I have 3
unsual
names in my line.
Absalom, Galen and Basil. I'm still trying to find the birth parents of my
William Clark that was born in Indiana on 22-Oct-1820 or 1822. According to
the census William has his father born in VA and the mother born in KY. I
have purchase alot of books and material on the surname of Clark and still
can't get pass my brick wall. If anyone has a clue or can help I could
greatly appreciate it.
Thanks and have a good day

ANITA JO
In Ashville, NC. William Clark on census married to Rebecca. Rebecca
died in the 1900's, Wm was still alive. The reason I was interested was
I am looking for Rebecca Clark who was married to Tom Clark. He was on
the 1880 census in Buncombe co. NC. Only one time. Rebecca was on until
the last was in 1920. Children of Tom and Rebecca were Maggie V., Otto,
Monroe, Fred, Elsa, Ellen (Elenor?) and maybe Duskie. There were 7
children born to Rebecca. My grandmother was Mamie or Jemima Jane. She
was not Toms child that we know of. The result of a rape. Rebecca was
part indian. They were in Cherokee area but came from Fairfield, SC.
Her mother was Sarah (Salla, Sally) CArlile. I haven't put this on for
awhile but thought the William might be helpful to someone. Margaret
looking for above person who married Gracie Ann Smallie. they had 4
children--Martha Lucille, Edith Lorraine, Frederick Lee, and Louis Leon.
Merritt may have had bro. Eugene and Elmer(may have been sheriff in Mo). the
family is from Mo.mostly St. Louis area.
Merritt's parents may have been John Clark (of all the names), and Emma
Carpenter?. John may have had bro. Moss, Rosco and Chisum.
Most of this is not proven . I am only sure about Merritt being married to
Grace Smallie. I have alot on the smallie family , I am stuck with these
clarks. They are my husbands family. I don't get any help from them.
Thanks so much for any help

I have two John CLARKs in Knox Twp., Guernsey Co., OH in the 1800's. John
and Jane CLARK and family arrived in Knox Twp. about 1825 and John and Martha
CLARK and family arrived about ten years later. I would like to exchange
information with anyone researching either of these families.
In reference to your John Clark's son William, who was born in Ky.,...
Do you have the name of spouse, or birthdate???
My William Clark was born in Ky. in or about 1832, and that is where
my stumbling block comes in. We have been unable to find out who his
parents were or where he was born. Our Wm. married Rachel Jane
Taulbee. Thanks in advance.
