If you have a Leo CLARK in your line & can not find his parents link, I
might have a solution ! It seems Leo took off for parts unknown & left
his family in Worcester MA area in early 1900s. His two sons Norman
Clark17 & Albert Clark 13 were living with their Grandfather John Porter
in Grafton 1920 census. Leo's wife & girls ( one was Vera Clark ) were
likely in Worcester MA. Next time at Nat Archives I will find them in
1920 census ! Leo was one of my grandfather's brothers. I just got this
missing info as hear say from family member, but fits data. Now, where
did Leo go ? Ancesters.Com has one in Colorado & one in KY to look at.
Leo A. CLARK was born in 1877. There is no SSDI listing for him. Likely
a census search on Ancesters.Com will trace him.
A look at 1910 census will likely narrow down time frame. So, if you are
looking for Leo also, I have much info for you.

Hi Bruce,
Since Reed is such a common name we may not have a connection, but-
my husband's ancestor Andrew REED was born in northern Ireland
(Cloghan, Balteagh Parish, County Londenderry, Ireland) in 1733. He
married Esther MCBRYRE in Lancaster co., Pennsylvania and lived
in Cumberland (later Franklin) co., Pennsylvania. I do not have the names
of all of Andrew's siblings and do not know of a Nancy, but another sister,
Mary, married James SAY, Jr. they had a son David SAY and eventually
lived in Venavgo co., PA. Andrew Reed's son, David "changed the spelling
of the family name back to REID" if this looks like your Nancy REED could
be related to my Andrew, Mary ( there is another brother, John that I know
of)
let me know.

My Clark connection is slim and my information is very limited. Jeff [could
be Jeffrey, Geoffrey??] Clark was married to Eliza [aka Lizzie] Weston
in Iowa. When? I don't know. She was born in Vermont in 1855 and moved
three years later to Iowa with her family. They lived in or around Cresco
Iowa. Jeff Clark and Eliza produced two sons: Harry and Charles. Both Jeff
and Eliza were deceased by 1895 and their sons were being raised by her
brother Charles Weston in Walnut Lake, Minnesota. I would be most grateful
for any information anyone might have regarding Jeff and Eliza Clark or
their sons, Harry and Charles. Thank you and Happy New Year!

My g-grandmother, Olive (Ollie) Matilda CLARK was the daughter of George
Wesley CLARK and Edith (Edie) Matilda Stoneking. I know Ollie was born in IL,
but in the 1900 census it is stated that her parents were born in Ohio. Does
anyone have a connection to any of these people?

Margaret, I also have a Thomas A. Clark but have little information about
him. My Thomas A. Clark is one generation older than your, so it "could"
be the father. My Thomas A. was actually born in Havana, Cuba to Thomas
Clark of Arnold (county of Nottingham) England and Maria del Pilar on Feb.
9, 1801. Thomas A's grandparents were John Clark and Countess Catherine
Winfield. My Thomas A. seems to drop off the face of the earth after his
birth. I find no records of his marriage, death, etc. in Cuba or England.

I am interested in your Thomas A. Clark.
Mine married Rebeca C. Carlil in Asheville, NC in Jan. 1877. He was on
the 1880 census as husband and father, living with Rebecas mother. He was
17 when they married.
Could this be yours? I have never found a Thomas A. The census said he
was born NC. I will be waiting for a reply and hoping we can connect. I
don't know anymore about him. He just disappeared. Rebeca was on the census
until 1910 but he was never listed again. She had 7 children and always
went by Clark. Don't know when or where she died either. Any help will
be appreciated. Margaret

James CLARK, b. ca 1735 in Northern Ireland, came to America about 1755. He
married a Nancy REED, b. 1739. They married in Lancaster Co., PA, then later
moved to Mercersburg, Franklin Co., PA and then to Washington Co., PA. They
had the following children: David, Thomas, John, Rebecca, Mary, James, and
Nancy. Is anyone researching this family and do you know the names of the
parents of James CLARK and Nancy REED?
Hi.... I have all of the Clark people mentioned, in my data base, but no
definite connections regarding parents. I have Joseph with son Henry,
but no son John. I do have John of Hartford/Saybrook and also Nicholas
who was said to be a brother of John and also William of Haddam. However
if Henry is father of Nicholas, the all those previous relationships
break down...
Do we have some source that links John to his father, Joseph? That might
be a good starting point... and we can continue from there.

Dear Lisa,
I do not find any connection to the Clark's listed, but then i can not find
much info on my husband's Clark's.
HOWEVER, my husband's grandmother was a Maxson and if my memory serves me
correctly her mother was Elenora Albers Maxson.
I have a whole list of these Albers from West Virginia.
Let me know if we should look for a connection. Maybe, the Albers connection
would shed some light on my brick wall of Clark's.
Have a safe and peaceful holiday,

Dear Group ,
I have been trying for ages to find info. on James Jordon Clark who m. 7 Aug 1837 , Elizabeth Brewer , in Rutherford Co. Tn. I don,t have parents or sibblings for either one of them .On his marriage record he is listed as just Jordon Clark, so may have gone by middle name early in life .
He was in Civil War , enlisted in Hamilton Co. Illinois 1861 , records say he was age 40 so he was b. 1821 NC.
They settled in Franklin Co.Illinois , they had at least 4 of there 10 children in Tn. . There first ch. was named Sterling V. Clark . I have found the name of Sterling among some of the Brewer line records but no connection yet to Elizabeth . My line was named Marinda which is a different name , assumed it was for some of there line .
Any information sure would be appreciated .
Catherine
Hi Patricia, I'm sorry but those names aren"t any of the names I have, I'm going to hang on to those names though, with all the Clark research I'm doing maybe I might run into them. Thanks for your responce Bob Clark

Robert, I wonder if you can tie my few Clarks into your family of
Clarks? The only information I have is that my great great great grandfather
Almon(d) Clark was born in CT in 1802. He married Laura West who
might have been born in VA in 1805, their first son Dejoinville was gron
in 1842 in MO and second son Almon(d) was born in 1844 in IL, possibly
Knox Co. Have you run into any Almon(d) Clarks in your research? Have
you ever run into the name Dejoinville Clark?
Thanks in advance.

My 11th great grand father Joseph Clarke's son Henry was born in 1606 in England in 1632 my 10th great grand father John (Henry's) brother came to America and settled in Hartford, CT. and was a founder of Hartford, CT. I don't know if this is the Henry your looking for or not, I have plenty of information on John, and his Ancestors and decendants but not much on Henry. John Clarke (my Henrys brother) came from Great Muden Hertfordshire, England and settled in Newtown in 1632. He removed with Hookers company to Hartford, CT. in1636 after he left Hartford he settled in Saybrook, Middlesex, Connecticut. Let me know if this ties in to your Henry. Thanks Bob Clark, New Hope, Minnesota reclark(a)usa.com

Subject: [CLARK] Clarke/Lingwood/Loomis of Hartford CT and Essex
Robert Charles Anderson, The Great Migration Begins (Boston,
1995) I, pp. 373-375, gives a sketch of Nicholas Clarke of Essex,
Cambridge MA, and Hartford CT. He arrived in Massachusetts
aboard the Lion in 1632; settled in Cambridge MA; removed
1635 to Hartford CT where he died 2 July 1680 Hartford CT; his
will dated 28 January 1679/0, was proven 2 December 1680
Hartford CT. He was a member of the First Congregational
Church of Hartford.
John S. Goodwin, "Goodwin families in America" (1897,
reprinted 1969), p. 41, printed a letter from William Lingwood of
Braintree, Essex, to his Cousin Clarke, generally thought to be
Nicholas Clarke of Hartford, dated 20 March 1651/2. (The letter
as transcribed is printed below.) Therein he tells Clarke that he
mediated in some way between Clarke and Clarke's brother
Richard in the neighborhood of Little Waltham, Essex, and he
asks Clarke to convey his greetings to his cousin Loomis and
cousin Cullivick [Cullick], most probably Joseph Loomis who
emigrated from Braintree, Essex, to Windsor CT in 1638 and
John Cullick, Secretary of the Colony of Connecticut 1648-
1658..
The will of John Lingwood, dated 6 April 1597, proven 3 May
1597 [Essex Record Office BW 24/2; transcribed in Emmison,
"Essex Wills"]; may explain some of these connections: 1) his
will names his son-in-law John Loomis, who married Agnes
Lingwood; their son Joseph Loomis emigrated to CT 2) his will
also names his son-in-law Henry Clarke who married Susan
Lingwood and might possibly be the father of [Nicholas] and
Richard Clarke.
Can anyone amplify or fortify or deepen any of these
relationships? The records of Braintree are lost for this period,
and printed Essex wills go little past the end of the sixteenth
century. Has anyone examined any of these families into C17
Essex?
Many thanks for your help, and best wishes to you.
