Surname: Clark, Redfern
-------------------------
Hi,
I am looking for any information on Theodore Clark, who married Lottie
Lula Redfern in R.I. and moved to California
Lottie was born in 1885 and married in the early 1900's.
Any information would be appreciated.

> Are you aware of the John B. Clark who married Rhoda Hammrick October 17, 1817 in Pittsylvania Co., VA? If I remember correctly, Henry Co. split off from Pittsylvania Co. and then later Patrick Co. split off from Henry Co.

Greetings Group:
I am new to the group and hope someone can offer me ideas concerning
Elizabeth Clark
There seems to be some confusion re/ one who md Alexander Beard from
Buncombe county NC and went to Lincoln Co. Tenn. This one md .Alexander 26
Sept. 1805 bn. in Sc.
1788 according to the 1850 census and Alexander bn. NC 1777. They had 11
children.
Then the Elizabeth CLark in Barren Co. Ky. md Alexander 30 Mar.
1809,consent from her father Wison Clark Sur; Richard Clark.
I think this Elizabeth remained in Barren ,Ky. area for some time.
Have these Elizabeths been mixed up?
Can some one enlighten me ?
Help
Thanks in advance.

This is my latest post on my Clarks, hopeing some new people have joined and may have information. Looking for information on Oliver P. Clark 1850/1860 DeKalb County Alabama census. Born 1812 KY. Married to Claracy???? Casey??? Children----
John 1840 / Nancy 1842 / Mary E. 1844 / Benjamin Franklin 1846 / Sarah J. 1849 /
William Cobb / 1850 / Margaret Ann 1853 (Married a Formby) / Shade Alexander 1856 / James Elisha 1860 / Tabitha 1863 / Clara??? was probably the second wife for Oliver Perry, Oliver Perry served in the Confederacy during the war of the States. Oliver was in TENN. in 1830 ? and probably arrived in AL> in 1840. Two brothers with him Shadrack and Elisha Franklin. Elisha married a Tabitha White and fathered several children, Shadrack married a Affie Barnes and fathered several Children. Oliver is listed on the census as a Cabinet Maker, Elisha is listed as a distiller the rest are Farmers.
I desperately need Oliver's wife's name and verification on his Father whom I believe to be John Clark (1786 NC) found living with Elisha Franklin Clark on the 1850/1860 DeKalb census. Any one out there ever heard of these Clarks?????

Hello,
The #GenealogyForum chatroom on Afternet IRC would like to invite you and all your friends to a Brainstorming Session.
We will be in channel at 9pm EDT on Saturday, December 2, 2000.
We invite you to bring along the names of those pesky ancestors who refuse to be found. We will be trying techniques such as various ways to spell those names (maybe someone else will dream up one we missed).
Sometimes we all benefit from a fresh point of view.
For those of you who are not regulars in the chat room you will find us to be a group of amateur genealogists who run a clean chat room and we welcome all who would like to visit.
If you are unfamiliar with using IRC (Internet Relay Chat) please visit our website at http://home.flash.net/~gen4m for full information on how to join us.
Also visit our NickMap site to find out where we live and some of our websites. http://www1.50megs.com/gfhistory/nickmap
Hoping to meet some new cousins.

Died: 10 Feb 1961 2:40 a.m. age: 61 at 16th and West Avenue. Deset Hot Springs, CA
Buried: Desert Memorial Park Cemetery on 2/13/1966 Lived in CA 21 years.
His wife was Helen BLISS Clark.
No Children:
Parents of Bruce's were Thomas Elwood Clark born Pennsylvania. and Lucy RIDINGER Hunt Clark. born Indiana.
Thomas died 1912 and Lucy 1913. Both burried in a Cemetery at Eureka Springs, AR
Thomas had been married before, but no children. He was also a Civil War Veteran
I hope this helps someone. It took me about three years to find Bruce as there are no
records in AR to show where he moved. I found him in CA as he was the informant of an
Aunt Elizabeth Colon, a sister to Bruce's Grandmother, Sarah SMITH Ridinger who raised
Bruce from age 13 when she was given custody of him after the death of his parents.

I am also looking for a Mansfield connected to Clark. A Ruth Mansfield Clark
who was living at least during the years of 1932 and 33 in Virginia. Maybe
before and after. She was born in 1899 or 1900 as she stated she was 33 on a
hospital record in 1933.
Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Margaret E. Reynolds. That's strange that you would have a Mansfield
connected with Clark's. I don't have anything on the Mansfield but just the
stories told by my gr grandmother, Mary Elizabeth (Clark) Small. According
to the elder relatives, still alive (93 yrs & 94 yrs), they all state that
Mary Elizabeth wrote some information about her family on a piece of paper,
but like all papers, it has been lost.
So, I do not know any of her mother or father's family, which really makes
the research difficult. I do know that her father was Thomas F Clark. I am
sure the F. stands for Franklin, as his second marriage produced a son, named
Milton Franklin Clark.
Thomas F. Clark was born, I am pretty certain in TN in 1824.
He married Sarah (Sally) Mansfield, (b) about 1825 in TN, about 1845.
Thomas & Sarah had the following children:
Jemima Cathrine Clark (nicknamed Myme & J.C.), (b) 1847 in TN
William Clark, (b) 1849 in TN
Mary Elizabeth Clark, (b) 1853 in McMinnville, Warren Co, TN
Susan Clark, (b) 1855 in TN
Samuel Clark, (b) 1857 in MO
Thompson Clark, (b) 1862 in MO. ( The first name, I am not sure of, as the
census was so bad. According to finally members, Thomas & Sarah had a child
named Silas, perhaps, this Thompson was called Silas, as I did not find any
other children on the census. Also had a son called Pone, so I just don't
know for sure)
I have listed these names to see if any of them connect with your family
names.
The stories that I have heard and I know how stories go, only believe half of
it, but the other things that my gr grandmother said about the Small family
have been pretty true.
According to the story on the lost paper:
Mary' Elizabeth Clark's maiden name was Mansfield. Her family came from
North Carolina to Mansfield. (The family seems to feel it was Mansfield,
Missouri) Her grandfather owned the town of Mansfield. He manufactured
wagons. He owned the bank and many other businesses in the town. He also
owned the railroad through Missouri. ( I have checked who Mansfield, MO was
named after and it was a lawyer, which I find it hard to believe that this
could be my relative. Mary Elizabeth could not read or write when she was
17, but later learned. I cannot believe that she had such educated
relatives, when she did not have schooling)
Mary Elizabeth Clark was 1/4 indian.
Mary Elizabeth Clark's father, Thomas F. Clark built Mansfield wagon's and
that is how the town of Mansfield was named. The wagon business, which I am
sure belonged to Mary Elizabeth Clark's grandfather, Mr. Mansfield was sold
and the name changed.
Mary Elizabeth Clark's mother & father lived in Missouri. It was here that
her grandfather (Mr. Mansfield) wife died and he was a widower. He then
married a young Mexican girl that wanted to go to a dance one night and he
did not want to go. He tried to pull her down on his lap and she took a
knife and slit his throat, then she went to the dance. H was supposedly to
have had a lot of money. He had money (gold) hidden under his house, but
none was ever found. (sounds to me like it would make a good T.V. serial.
We all seem to have something interesting in our family)
Like I said, stories are stories, but I cannot pin point anything on this. I
have done some research, but not as much as I would like to have done. I am
currently doing a book on the "Small Family" and that keeps me busy.
If, I can be of any farther assistance, let me know or if you have anything,
I would like to hear from you. I will keep a copy of your correspondence for
reference and who knows, we may solve our questions some day.
Good luck on your research,
Delpha Andrews DelphaA(a)aol.com

This is re: Delpha in CA. You have mentioned many names that are in my
family. Thomas A. Clark was married to my g-grandmother Rebeca Carlile.
He was said to have been born in NC about 1860. Married Rebeca Jan 1877
in Asheville NC. The name Bill Mansfield was said to have been the
father of my grandmother Mamie. She was dau of Rebeca. She was said to
be the result of rape and all Buncombe Co was up in arms. They found
Rebeca tied up in a shed and Mansfield told another dau many years later
he had forced Rebeca. Rebeca was the dau of Sarah (Salla or Sally)
Carlile (Carslile or Carlyle) and William whom we have never found
anywhere. Sarah was born in SC as was Rebeca and was on the 1860 census
SC with R. C. 2 yrs and N.J. 12 yrs old. Then in 1880 in NC with T.A.
Clark, son in law and R.C.dau, M.4 yrs and M.V who I think is Maggie as 1
Yr. They were living in Sandy Mush, near Asheville from 1876 when my
grandmother was born til 1910 census, same area.
Anything will be of help to me. I have been researching them for over 20
years and finding nothing. Rebeca was always on the census alone with
children being born clear thru 1900 and saying she was married, not
widowed. Other children were Fred, Elsa, Otto, Elinor Ellen, Maggie V.
I can't even find anything on any of those children.
Can anyone help? Thank you, Margaret sunsethillcem(a)juno.com

BTW, Do you have the wives of Dennis in the correct order? He was 25 when
he married Jane who was 17, in 1803... Did he divorce his first wife?
She seems to have outlived Jane and was also 8 years younger than Jane,
so she must have been quite young when she married Dennis (ha!)..
Do you have the kid's names of Jane? Perhaps we can get her father &
mother's name from that list and I may be able to search my data base
since Jane was not that common a name.

--- Barbara Clark
--- b01clark(a)earthlink.net
--- EarthLink: It's your Internet.
Hi, I noticed the name John Clark married to a Mary that went to Arkansas on
the list posting. The name John and Mary Clark has appeared as witness to
various forms for both sides of my grandmother's family in Baxter & Izard
Counties in Arkansas. I have been trying to connect this John R. Clark to my
Clark's, but have not proven anything. The John Clark that I have was born
in Missouri on May 1859, which fits my Clark's time frame, but younger than
your John Clark.
On the 1900 Baxter Co, AR census, it lists John R. Clark (b) May 1859, MO,
wife, Mary L. (b) Jan 1863, AR. I have a feeling that this John R. Clark is
a son of my gr grandfather, Thomas F. Clark or some relative.
I guess why your listing interested me was that Thomas F. Clark, (b) 1824.
which I do not know his parents names, or any siblings, was born, according
to one census, Ala and the other TN. Thomas parent's were born: father: N.C
and mother TN. Thomas lived in 1850 Warren Co, Mc Minnville, TN. He was
married to a Sarah or Sally, which the family all state that her maiden name
was Mansfield, but I have not been able to prove this, as I do not know
anything about her family. Thomas and Sarah were the parents of my gr
grandmother, Mary Elizabeth (Clark) Small. On the 1870 Texas Co, MO census
lists Thomas & Sarah. It appears that Sarah died before 1888, as the next
time that I find Thomas was in Baxter Co, AR married again to Sarah Teague.
He died in 1902 in Baxter Co, AR. It appears all of his children moved from
TN to AR.
I have tried to connect this John R. Clark to my family, but have not been
able to. I did order Homestead papers on a John R. Clark, dated May 1894 and
he was 36 years old. It appears this John R. Clark lived in Wake, Izard Co,
AR, which is no longer a town.
I am grasping at straws, but one never knows when a connection will be made.
I would appreciate if you would see if any of this fits any of your Clark
family.
Thank you,
Delpha in California
Sorry,
George H. Clark was born in KY, but many of the Clarks of that family are
from northern IL and Wi.
